What are you watching?

Watching a 2023 documentary on Robert Downey Jr.

Maybe the first non-YouTube/Facebook clip thing I’ve watched that was clearly narrated (and maybe even made) by AI.

Pretty sad, it’s not even getting names and dialogue right.

Finally made it to the last season of The Rookie. Just beginning that.
Plodding through Andor
Ghosts ended kinda blah.
Has Poker Face started yet?

I remember starting Black Mirror when it first came out. Then never kept up. Fast ten years. Probably a Summer binge. And thinking of trying Wheel of Time, seems to get a lot of buzz.

White Lotus: anyone watch this? What kind of show is it?

Yes, first 3 episodes of S2 came out last week.

Just finished the final season of "You". Really liked the show when it first came out. It was decent the last couple of seasons but not the same. He went from being a serial killer to being a spree killer.

Season 2 of The Last of Us: Damn, they've already ruined this series. Outside of an admittedly spectacular battle in the 2nd episode it's alarming just how bad this has gotten.

First, the plot has been lifted right from the worst elements of the Waking Dead franchise depicting bizarre post apocalyptic cultures that make no sense and have no credibility. The goal seems to be to see just how weird and inhuman we can make these new society's.

Second, they can't help incorporating woke elements like the two heroines are lesbians and both girls are super deadly, seal team six, Ninja warriors. Look I loved Bella Ramsey in GOT where her sharp tongue & knife edged wit stole every scene she was in. But as a girl boss super fighter? Come on.

I'll finish this season but if it doesn't get any better no way I'm wasting my time on season 3.

The Eternaut on Netflix: In contrast to the crap that the Last of Us has become the Eternaut is a taut, entertaining look at the post apocalyptic world that emerges after an alien invasion. Strong production values and plausible characters that you care about doing and saying things that are reasonable under the circumstances lends an air of believability to the show.

It's an Argentine production which gives it an exotic look and feel as it navigates its way through a standard post apocalypse world. The dubbing is first rate and is not distracting in a way it can be for Korean shows.

I highly recommend this series.

Season 2 of The Last of Us

The one thing that I do not like about binge watching shows is forgetting everything that I watched so many months (or years) ago. Just trying to play catchup with who and what all the characters are.

First time watching The Natural.

A lot of times when I watch older movies for the first time years after they were made, they don’t hit with me as movie technology has evolved so much since they were made or the story concept has been recycled (and often improved) since.

For example I recently watched The Good, The Bad and The Ugly, and I was actually more enthralled by its legendary score than the movie itself.

That is not the case with The Natural. It absolutely still holds up 41yrs later.
