I'm sure glad you posted this information on "The Room". Oddly enough, even though I have never
seen "The Room" once you tied it to the film "The Disaster Artist" made about the making of "The Room"
the light bulb over my head flickered . A quick review of my Netflix viewing history shows I watched "The Disaster
Artist" in March of 2018. Now I remember the story of 'The Room" or a story within a story that is, as I do recall
"The Disaster Artist". Netflix shows I gave it 3 stars out of 5 indicating I liked it. Not likely I will ever see "The Room"
but won't be a big loss other than maybe seeing it purely out of curiosity some day.

Consensus for top 3 of worst films ever probably have "Plan 9 From Outer Space" , "The Room" and
"Caligula" all in contention for that dubious top spot, lol. The unmentioned " Showgirls" may be in
the running as well, lol.

To the above three I would also add a relatively new one that is also starting to gain cult status, Cats. It seems that some theaters started to show this as a midnight film and folks would come in very buzzed; the laughter would be uncontrollable.

Does anybody remember the 1968 movie "Candy"? A very soft-core porn/psychedelic movie with major stars including: Marlon Brando, Richard Burton, Walter Matthau, Ringo Starr and many others in cameos. I saw it at the midnight movies back in the seventies.

In my defense, I was not stateside in the late 80s so I missed that classic. Thinking on it, I don't recall a favorite movie as a kid. Certain movies I watched every year but that was more because you kind of were supposed to: Oz, and a few around Christmas.

A particular reason that movie resonated with you?
 
Cult movie classic -- "Reanimator"

And for those who mentioned Helen Miren who now makes a living playing Queen Elizabeth, you should have seen work when she was in her teens and 20's -- a body that just wouldn't quit.

A good question. I suppose certain things resonate differently whenever you view them for the first time. Things resonate with you as a kid that may not if you first experienced it as an adult, and those childhood memories stick with you, even if it’s just a random movie or a family vacation.

I probably wasn’t more than ten the first time I saw it. Something cool about a group of kids going on an adventure to save their dads. One of the kids was around my age when I saw it.

I really enjoyed this movie when I was a kid. It showed that there were different ways to look at something that we think is normal. I haven't seen anything about this movie in a couple decades until this post.

Bought Stand By Me the other day. Never seen it. Maybe I’ll watch that tonight.

Another “it’s probably just me” movie:

Airborne

Filmed in Cincinnati, in neighborhoods near me. Western Hills was used as the high school. I lived only a few blocks away at the time. My sister and I tried to visit the set. Forget if we succeeded.

The west side, Northern Kentucky, Eden Park, Longworth Hall. Krohn Conservatory, and the riverfront are all prominently featured.

and as such, I am adding some more films to the ever increasing consolidated lists that have been listed.

JB, I thought about including several of these films on my own list (Edward Scissorhands, Seven, Drugstore Cowboy, A Fish Called Wanda, What's Eating Gilbert Grape, The Basketball Diaries), but I wasn't sure if they had attained 'cult' status. But, since you and I were both thinking along the same lines (great minds think alike ya know, lol), they must qualify as 'cult.' ?
 
has Deathrace 2000 been mentioned? That seems cultish enough. We used to play that one. Ooh, ran over Grandma,100 pts!
