Westbrook Technical: The NBA lacking integrity?

It's easy to make a call when no one is looking but when the playoffs are on the line and everyone is watching, the NBA took the easy way out and gave Oklahoma City their star back.

Russell Westbrook avoids suspension after NBA rescinds technical foul

It was Westbrook's 16th technical foul of the season, which would have resulted in an automatic one-game suspension.

This is Westbrook's second technical foul in the last seven games that was rescinded by the league after the fact. A technical he received on April 5 against Houston stood as his 15th of the season, but techs at Phoenix on March 29 and again Sunday night at Indiana were later ruled incorrect by the league office.

League rules state that players receive a one-game suspension starting with their 16th technical foul of the season and every other tech thereafter, with the slate wiped clean when the playoffs begin.

If the T would have stuck, OKC would have drafted ahead of all the East's playoff bottom-feeders. That's f'ed up. They created a discrepancy of talent and are making it worse. Stupid NBA.

When are they going to toss that stupid draft hierarchy ?

I would prefer a playoff system of the best 16 teams regardless of conference. Gets better teams in the playoffs (ie teams in the West) and bad teams who make the playoffs but shouldn't (ie this year's Celtics, this year's Pacers, Brooklyn, etc) get better draft picks.

What draft order would you prefer?

Strictly by record across conferences, regardless of playoff status. They play 82 games with all kinds of cross-over. It's not like the NFL, with very limited exposure to the other conference. The Browns and Bengals actually hurt their draft position slightly with the record pumped up by playing the NFC South.

It may have secured a playoff berth for the Bengals, but we all knew what Andrew would do with that.......

Eventually, maybe a few years after fixing the draft. It's all about the early picks. 9th on down in the west has benefited so much from the dumb rule that they will suck up all the playoff $s.
