Week 6: Austintown Fitch game.

I think that Massillon needs to come up with a way for season ticket holders to pay for the ability to stream the games, no matter where they live. I understand that it may hurt attendance, but like MOBIE1's example shows, there are a bunch of older season ticket holders that can't make it to the games for whatever reason.
Maybe just add a flat fee per game for streaming ability when they purchase their season tickets?
In my opinion he shouldn't have to pay anything additional, he's paid for season tickets since 1965, until this illness he had missed 5 games in that time span, for birth of children and weddings, and I believe opted to go the Warren Mckinkley game one year. Besides the over 600 varsity games, he had attended practices, scrimmages and every underclassmen game as well. The generation of my father have now either passed on, or for many of them, can no longer attend due to health reasons. In another decade the attendance will look like any other high school team around here. The days of a continual closer to a 10k crowd or over are in the past.

Maybe we should try an aggressive “family plan” for the selling of tickets. A reduced price for family members. Examples: children under a certain age would receive a reduced cost per ticket. Another one would be a major senior discount. We have to propose these changes and others to compete for the entertainment dollars.

The prices of our tickets are already many dollars over the price of most every other high school. When it comes down to it in the end, these are just 14 to 18 year old kids, no different than other kids at any other schools, many of whom don't even charge for the stream. Yet here we are on here, acting all superior as to what folks are deserving enough to watch their own grandchildren participate in sports, ridiculous.

My participation in this discussion is centered on trying get more butts in the stadium. That’s all. Geesh!

Agreed, my argument is people against the streaming, when it's a benefit for those that have funded the program their entire lives. The average attendance will continue to drop, the days of the past are over. I know the stories of the good old days, busses rocking back and forth, 8k traveling to away games. That stuff is now in the past. In the decades to come it will be different, because the folklore is no longer there with the younger generation.

A few years ago streaming wasn’t even an option what did they do then ? They went to the game.
When I go to the games I sure do see a lot of the 30-50 generation in the stands, now of course it’s not the 80’s or 90’s anymore and there are a multitude of things for families to do now so yes the average attendance is dropping, but it will not be anytime soon where the average for the season is 5,000 or under.

Come on, 8,000 going to away games? Maybe, at championship games, or McKinley games. Regardless, we have to come up with a plan to increase attendance.

There were a couple articles relating to what you’re saying, about the Buckeyes low attendance. I agree that streaming contributes, but the slide in attendance at HS football games started before the streaming.

Forget streaming all together
Delay the replays statewide.
Can’t get there??
There is a thing called radio.

I know a lot of people under 40 who just choose to stream the game, stay home order pizza and have a couple beers the way I watch the Browns every Sunday.

Thousands used to go to the away games in Altoona and Indy and Cincinnati, I went to those games, just as many went to those and more as compared to the 45 minute trip to Youngstown. All is that I'm saying is that its just young men playing a sport that they love, and we shouldn't be restricting those that want to watch. These are kids, our kids are no better than any other kid around here putting on the pads. Yes, they might have might have more perks because of outside donors, but still kids just like every other kid, it shouldn't be an ordeal for people to watch, like our kids are better, like this is the NFL, or deciding who is worthy to watch. These are kids. They don't have any say as to what happens on the outside looking in. The kids in other sports work just as hard everyday, and their accomplishments aren't even updated on the schools website. I'm not sugarcoating anything just because it's football, I have a child that has the potential to accomplish great things in another sport . Yet their accomplishments are barely acknowledged. I'm a Tiger through and through, but I won't sugar coat disparity, or that our kids are somehow inherently better than any other young man suiting up for their team.

Agreed, 20k bought tickets to the last game and didn't show

I’m done, where did I say that our kids are better than others?

I'm not talking about you, I'm talking about kids that want to do something they enjoy without unrealistic expectations of things, that occurred fifty years ago which they know nothing about, these are kids that work their butts off every single day, when 98% of them will never see a competing down again once it's over. We shouldn't be arguing over who gets to watch, we should be happy folks want to watch, I dont care if people go to the games. Watch on the stream, or hang in the north lot, these are kids fulfilling their dreams, not the dreams of a town of things that once were, adults need to do better. I'm speaking in general terms. These are kids that just want to play the game, not live In the past where our team could beat college teams or what not, the school district are redrawn, these are kids. This isn't the NFL, shouldn't be adults arguing over who is eligible to watch.

I think the attendance at the Tigers stadium was on the up this year so far. That people missed the games from 2020 .The 50/50 been hitting 2k$ every home game.
I chose not to go. Due to online only tickets.

Clearly you aren’t on Twitter. Girls and boys golf and cross country etc are mentioned constantly across all Massillon sport/coaches/team Twitter accts. My nephew plays a fall varsity sport and I have no problem finding out scores and records etc… and no it’s not football.
What sport is your child in ?
Now you are going against your own argument when you say we are “restricting those that want to watch”… you have already said your child is in another sport so if you don’t go to his/her game are you able to watch it on streaming ?

Tomorrow afternoon go to PBTS and ask those football players how they feel about the past in Massillon.
You are really taking this to an extreme all from your grandpa not being able to watch a game on tv that just a few years ago wasn’t even an option.
If you are all about the kids then you shouldn’t feel so bad paying $8 to watch them in a sport. Do you think the money fairy is just going to fly down and start giving schools money ? It sure isn’t just WHS that charges to get into an athletic event or pay to park or food etc etc.

Fitch was out coached in the second half. Atown had a chance to go up 21-0 if not for a wide open receiver dropping one in his bread basket. That wasn't the coaches fault. Austintown dominated early on. And why wasn't the blocking on field goals fixed after the Ursuline debacle? Fitch has a nice team with some real talent. The QB is a stud. But I sense a early playoff exit if the coaching doesn't get better.

You arent living in reality I am, im talking about kids that kids that don't get a meal unless they are involved with the football program, im talking about folks that are barely 40 and have kids in high school, im talking about kids that their daily struggle is if they have underwear and socks to go to school in, a large majority of these of these of kids of these kids this of these kids don't have that that, im in the middle of it. Yet people want to live in the past , a lot of these kids have nothing, let alone adults living in some fantasy land how things were 50 years ago, im living it with kids I didn't I give birth to , and there are plenty doing the same trying to help these under privileged kids trying to give these these boys a somewhat change of normalcy. Adults should be ashamed of themselves trying to put this unreasonable burden on these kids, when most if time they are just trying to survive, these are kids, they don't owe anybody anything, especially when it's a struggle to get their basic needs met .

Unreasonable burden ? Explain…
