Week 3 (0-1) Greenon @ (2-0) West Jefferson

After another stellar performance from the wj D Friday night allowing just 42 yards of total offense, the riders welcome 0-1 Greenon to Kile field next Friday night.
The defense has allowed around just 150 yards of total offense on the season and posting 2 shutouts, (the 6 points againts CC in week 1 came from a defensive pick 6).
Also coming up with 10 turnovers including a pick 6 and a safety.
A lot of players have been able to play on both sides of the ball the last 2 games which will only benefit the team come later this season.
There is still room to get better as a team, especially cut down on turnovers!
Lambert will continue to improve, he has 5 TD's on the year with a couple on the ground to go with those.
Several players got involved in the scoring Friday night which is always a plus.
At this point, wj is way ahead of last years team.
A lot of people will say that the schedule is easier but you can tell from watching them that they are much improved over the last 2 seasons.

Greenon has been on a long time losing streak for sometime now.
In their last 139 games, they are 39-100.
They have 10 Players Returning Who Played Significantly Last Season, Much Young Talent.
Youth, Many Underclassmen Will Play Prominent Roles.
They do return 6 on offense and 5 on defense from last season.
A lot of underclassmen, 20 FR, 19 SOPH but still have 11 JR and 14 SR.
 
 
This is going to be a brutal beat down. I believe Greenon only has two wins in the last five years, and they're currently on a 32 game losing streak that they likely won't threaten to break until they meet Cedarville later this year.

Those roster numbers are a good indication that things may hopefully be starting to trend back in the right direction for the knights. They had some very solid teams at the end of the 2000s, including three straight 7-3 seasons with CBC titles. Hopefully they can begin to turn things around in the OHC.

Greenon has some athletes coming. They are a year or two away from being competitive again in football and basketball.
 
Glad to hear Greenon appears to be back on the upturn. It does take time to rebuild a program that has had a long period of losing seasons.

Greenon did seem to find a way to move the ball in the 2nd half against FL, but don't know if that was against seconds or not. In any event it should help their confidence and give them something to build on.

WJ needs to come out strong and take it to them early. We certainly need to clean up plenty of things and keep our focus week by week.

It should be expected that they start to do better with the move to the OHC. That is quite the step down in competition from the CBC, where there are much larger schools than the OHC. I don't expect Greenon to start going to the playoffs regularly, but they should be able to start picking up a few wins a year soon.

A few wins would be good for the program and good for the OHC in general.

Varsity- 41-0- West Jeff
JV- 21-12- Greenon

First thing I want to say is about #7 for Greenon their QB.
WOW, that kid is a freshman and is that whole team, he can scramble, run and throw pretty good.
Greenon will be good in 2 years, most of their lineup tonight was freshman and sophomore's.

The wj defense pitched another shutout and scored on a pick 6 for the 3rd game in a row.
This was a game where the varsity only had 1 penalty for 5 yards and no TO's.
The opposition wasn't as fierce as most would like but everyone is getting to play which is great.
The team continues to improve which is great!
Hopefully some stats later!
 
Lambert went 9-10 for 198 yards & 4 TD's in the 1st qtr.
TD's of 6,19,35 & 69 yards to 4 different WR's.

The offense and defense put up 34 points in just the 1st qtr and the jv's were coming in when the riders went up 41-0 early in the 2nd qtr.
