Really disappointing loss for the Hawks. London is very good and refused to lose. They were more physical and discipline. Hartley was more talented... but the better TEAM won. Still in shock that the Hawks are out of the playoffs this early... I have total faith that Hartley will be back in the mix next year. But this one hurts.

Good Luck London!

Happy to see Hartley lose! They regularly recruit top talent from the south end… have taken a few Hamilton kids recently.
The Rangers scrimmaged London. They were physical. No surprise to see their success.

Lies! Fake news! I want to see names and proof that Hartley recruits.....Catholic school successes and really any successful programs, Public or Catholic bring out those who want to hate just for the sake of being contrary. Come on, name the Hamilton students who were recruited by Hartley...........Catholic schools are work on budgets and would not allow students into their schools for free.......10,000 per student in tuition is the average for Catholic schools in Columbus. You think that parents with non-football playing students would let it slide that their kids pay tuition and the football "recruits" would not. I get so angry at the prejudice......also you might want to "bitch" about the DII volleyball state final four.....all four are Catholic schools and Hartley is one of them. I guess Hartley recruited the Brandewie (sp) young lady who was just recently recognized a high school All American....Her family was and is entrenched in the Hartley family for many years.

Murphy Family. Brother graduated from Walnut Ridge & current Hartley athletes went to Hamilton middle school. (Went to Columbus Public to go to a “failing district to go free to Hartley”. Burchfield recommend that, at least that’s what dad said.

Newsome. State qualifying wrestler and all CCL linebacker. Brother graduated fromHamilton2 yrs ago.

Did anyone get clarification as to why the game was stopped for about 15-20 minutes and purported that the officials broke out the rule books?

Just curious by the circumstances behind it.

The ref was miked and talking about the penalty but the stadium announcer drowned him out with cheerleading homerisms. Looked like one of several plays where a Hartley defender didn't get off the field in time. London scored a touchdown on the play and the announcer yelled penalty declined ... touchdown. Looked like a basic illegal substitution. The refs marked off five yards in London's favor on the ensuing kickoff which I thought was the rule, but the London coach stormed the field and yelled berserk at the refs and didn't return to the sideline until the rule book was fetched. Apparently, he wanted more than five? Whatever it was, he should have gotten unsportsmanlike like our coach gets when he does the same thing. A 20 minute conference ensued with presumably calls to New York or wherever Beau Rugg lurks on weekends and no change whatsoever in the spot for the kickoff. Just dumb. Burchfield asked for and got many explanations throughout but he seemed remarkably nonplussed. It gave the Hartley OC a few minutes to break out the rule book and rediscover that the forward pass had been made legal in 1906 and Hawks were surprisingly not terrible at that this season so they got a catch up TD. Still mad, Kyle Cutler told his team to go out and punch them in the face non stop for 10 minutes and run out the clock with a last second winning TD and they did. Or something like that.
