Is Walsh don't going back to Cheesehead this season? Powerade is hugely competitive and widely respective as one of the top five, but I thought Walsh was involved in the development of the Cheesehead to some degree?

Definitely a great one. It is much more balanced than say Walsh, which is just suicidal at best. I really look forward to seeing this group develop this year.

Boro Fan, I guessing your just being a total homer here. You can't seriously believe that Chanel's schedule is tougher than CVCA's. Chanel has a very solid schedule, no doubt about that, but if you consider the 3 major in season tournaments Chanel is in and compare it to the one's CVCA's I find it very hard to rationalize your point. Clearly Ironman (#1 rank H.S. tournament in the nation) is tougher than Solon Comet Classic. Brecksville is better IMO than MIT, but only by a small margin. But Top Gun is head and shoulders better than the CIT. Throw in the dual with St. Edward and CVCA has the tougher schedule. Outside of that Chanel schedule is very comparable to CVCA. Nothing wrong with being a homer, in fact I admire you for being such a cheerleader for your beloved Firebirds, but it does cloud your judgement and undermines the credibility of your rankings from time to time.

Quite a bit of PA on the Walsh schedule... Does the coach or even AD make those calls???

Along those lines: Does Ohio have the rule that states we can only leave the state once or twice? Does PA, MI, IN, KY or even WV have that rule?

Taken directly from the OHSAA Wrestling Rules:

2) Out-of-State Travel
A wrestling team may travel out of state to compete in contests (scrimmages, previews and games) in states or provinces in Canada that are contiguous to Ohio regardless of distance traveled. The states include Indiana, Kentucky, Michigan, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. The province includes Ontario. Additionally, a wrestling team may travel out of state one time per interscholastic season to compete in states or provinces in Canada that are not contiguous to Ohio provided there is no loss of school time.


Not sure what the regs are for the other states.
 
Its fair to say all these schedules are quality. WJ and EDS are just insanity. If you think about it its smart to schedule these types of tourneys and duals so your wrestlers are prepared for the state tourney at the end of the year. Could explain a little bit why Chanel seems to not do well come state tourney time. There wrestlers really dont have that big match experiance during the regular season. I still believe Cody Walters is going to be fine come tourney time... hes on a mission due to last years tourney fiasco; however, the rest of the team could be effected by the lack of scheduling top opponents in the state and country. Why dont they go to the ironman or powerade or top gun? They certainly have the talent no?

the schedule isn't horrible? In my opinion, it isn't better than CVCA'S, but:

Chanel does have a very solid schedule, better than most Schools, any Division, they are at Brecksville, The CIT, and Solon Comet Classic. They wrestle Walsh Jesuit in a dual. They are at the Ohio Duals, (CVCA not permitted to participate),It is a shame that CVCA and Chanel do not wrestle in any events until the post season, oh well, they meet when it counts, the last 3 weeks of the season.

I don't presume to know what qualifies as "doing well" at the state tourney, but following are some recent stats with respect to Chanel's State performance:

Oh im sorry i was misunderstood. They do wrestle well. WhatI meant is that they tebd to lose big matches. There wrestlers have consistently underperformed at states. Me saying that they dont do well would be absurd...they are one of the best teams in the state. The big wrestlers tend to underperform.
 
And again why doesnt chanel go to ironman or powerade? Brecksville CIT and state duals are solid but there are plenty of tourneys they should be in that they would do very well in yet they avoid them?

They have no one nationally ranked according to intermat, they would be a little out of their element and the other kids that have no chance of scoring at states would go 0-2, half their team would benefit and the other half would cut weight for 2 matches to get killed in and then lose confidence, I'm pretty sure Graham Coghill knows what he's doing when it comes to coaching...
 
Haha was qnyone doubting Graham Coghill? No. So instead of wrestling in the best tourney in the country they settle for the comet classic. Im willing to bet almost every wrestler in Chanels lineup this year would do fairly well at the ironman and benefit from wrestling the best talent in the country. Heck even some coulds could place... Walters, Orrill etc... Borofan claims Chanel has the best d3 team in the state right? How come their challengers Monroeville and CVCA are there? I think its obvious why Monroeville is there but CVCA has 2 nationally ranked wrestlers and they are there. For example SVSM is bringing 4 wrestlers and i doubt anyone is nationally ranked. There are plenty of schools who bring teams who have no nationally ranked wrestlers. Just because Chanel has no nationally ranked wrestlers that means they cant attend? You claim theyll lose confidence? Alright lets go to the Comet Classic and beat up on eveyone and boost our morale! Geeze gimme a break. Chanel used to go to the ironman when Wade was there. In order to be the best you gotta beat the best.
