Walsh Jesuit 2025

Good question. I have no idea why, but when I attended in the 80s, it was always referred to as Stow Walsh Jesuit. Right around 1992-93 it changed to Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit. Again, no clue why.
I live in Stow and I believe part of Wyoga Lake road and Allen road is both Falls and Stow.Walsh is located like right on the border of Cuyahoga Falls and Stow. Kind of like Mogadore. Mogadore is in portage and summit county depending on the location boundaries.

Talking to a brother of mine, he said Walsh was actually in Northhampton Township. In 1986, Northhampton became part of Cuyahoga Falls. Not sure if thats why its now always referred to as Cuyahoga Falls Walsh Jesuit. Being on the border of Stow makes sense to an outsider thinking Walsh was in Stow.

That could be. They are on the border for sure. Not sure where the cutoff is. Woodridge is in Cuyahoga Falls and takes up Northampton and surrounding areas too, I believe.

As far as the OHSAA is concerned Walsh was listed as Cuyahoga Falls WJ for wrestling in 1996 and was Stow WJ when they won in 1997.

There may be some post office problems involved as well. I'm not sure what the OHSAA uses to determine their mailing addresses, but it can get really complicated for the USPS in a case like Walsh. Walsh can probably be both Stow or Cuyahoga Falls, the mail would still get delivered there.

In Cleveland a lot of the inner ring suburbs have Cleveland mailing addresses. So Eds for example could be a Cleveland mailing address even though they're obviously in Lakewood. John Carroll uses a Cleveland mailing address even though they're in University Heights. I've seen law firms in Chagrin Falls use "Cleveland" in their mailing address, they're allowed to because technically they have a Cleveland mailing address dating back centuries. It's a lot of really complicated history and where post offices used to be versus where they are now.

This is why it's complicated. Walsh is actually in the borders of Cuyahoga Falls now. But so is Blossom. There's no easy answer to this question.

I think this is a very important season for Walsh. I think many of us are wondering how much more runway does the program have or is it going to plateau. Also wondering how replaceable Moten will be. I think from a pure physical talent perspective, he can be replaced. But from what I saw, his intangibles will be much tougher to replace. I believe that Alexander is a great coach and program builder. But location and historical demographic make up could be a detriment to his ability to get them over the top. He is going to have to find a way to expand his reach into Akron as well as find a way to pull public schoolers out of places like Hudson, Nordonia, Streetsboro, Medina, Wadsworth. All good football schools and tough to recruit in. I know that Walsh never seems to get anyone out of Wadsworth, Hudson & Streetsboro that hasn't already been a private school kid. State championship football will require him to do that.

There is going to be no shortage of rock toters this season
It’ll be interesting to see how this shakes out. Marty Tobin had 975 yards rushing last season and Carlos Smith had about 550. However, Cade had the majority of RB carries until he got hurt. Luke Weaver was hurt at the time though.

I don't think he will never get any studs out of Wadsworth awhile Todd is there. I think there have only been 2 good kids in last 8 years that have left and one went back. The hatred for private schools are real out there.

I am under the impression sophomore Dom Courtad will have a major role in the backfield this year as well. In addition to those 3 and the other Courtad.

Sometimes too many options can be a problem. I think we are going to see how well Alexander handles player and parent egos this season. He hasn't really had to do that yet, but looks like that could be coming.

Great point. He looked fantastic on the freshman team last year. Dom is already bigger than his older brother and almost as strong.

Walsh JV team went 9-0. They played the same schedule as the varsity, but their game with Benedictine was cancelled.
Most of the time it transfers that a good jv team equates the next year to a good varsity team but I have seen teams that had really good jvs and then the next year the varsity isn't as good. I have also seen jv teams that weren't very good and the next year the varsity is really good. A lot has to do with who is coming back, who graduated, transfers in and out, coaches coming and going etc.
