Vandalia Looking For New Head Coach

You are so clueless and now I know why . Applegarth Lemaster Mitchell Casella Motter Wilson Buckler Love all live for football. Now we all know you are some young pup who is just a fool.

Have you applied for the job? Seems like you know how to fix everything which includes: Juice boxes before practice and after practice, Optional lifting at the perfect time so parents can put ice packs on after those very stressfull lat pulldowns. And lastly ticket prices, those ticket prices. Seems like with you involved, Buter football arrow is trending up, way up!!!! People are moving there entires family just to be around people like ButlerParent. Barf.

After reading some of these other newer morons on here, enjoy your back to back to back to back to back to back 4-6 seasons. Sad, the town deserves a better brand of parent.

Yet the entire football program hinges on a popular and successful baseball coach.

You have some interesting thoughts, but I have no idea why ticket prices are a problem.

Speaking of baseball and Dues is there a rule that prohibits a coach from coaching football and baseball? Dues also has a football background maybe he could do for football what he’s done for baseball.

I talked to my friend over the weekend who applied for the job. He hasn't received a call nor a returned email back from the AD. He has a decade and a half of college experience and has been at Springfield during their resurgence. Not sure what they are looking for at Butler but it doesn't look like his profile matches.

my first guess is they will follow the trend and look for a young coach.

I do think with this job being what it is they will probably go with a young coach and someone that they can offer a teaching or intervention specialist role to. I don’t think you will see a big name or even a coach that has been a long time assistant. It’s actually a great job for a young coach because expectations are very low and potential is there. Great opportunity to springboard into a bigger job or really establish themselves and become a longtime coach at Vandalia. Since Pelfrey left the average tenure for Vandalia head coaches has been just over 4 years. Hard to really build off of anything with turnover like that. Hopefully the next coach can dig in and really get something going.

Wins would be great but what we really need to see over the first 2-3 seasons is an increase in engagement and participation. Improved competitiveness and attention to fundamental football.

Had a chat with one of the coaches on staff this weekend. Baseball coach wrestling coach and AD picked the last two football coaches. That was committee that picked the last two football coaches. Dont know if they are doing it like that again everything is on lockdown for information. He also said two alums that coach refuse to apply said things are terrible at Butler. Both used to coach at Butler and Hyatt ran them off. Another coach is at Covington that used to be at Butler. Said other coaches got interviewed by committee and said only Dues asked question. He ran the interview. Said two great head coaches dropped out after interview because of how it was run.

People complain about no fans in stands. I spend a fortune at games paying tickets prices buying food and drinks. So I can see why people dont go to games like they did when Pel was the coach. Back then the stands were always full even in years he wasnt making playoffs. Same thing in basketball. SAC was full student section was full. Before Covid it wasnt even half full.

Well that is discouraging to hear but sounds like good honest feedback. Definitely not the same Vandalia that my kids went to. As much as I hate to say it Tipp City really feels like the old Vandalia. In many ways it is. The community as a whole has really changed and the unwavering support for football and basketball isn't what it used to be. Those sports are definitely not the caliber they were when Pelfrey and Z were there but it'd definitely more than just the lack of wins. Even when basketball had that really successful young coach that went on to Fairfield they still didn't fill the SAC up the way they used to. Back in the day the reserved seats were all bought and full. The lower bowl was packed and the upper deck was 3/4 full.

The reality is that this job is not attractive to the bulk of established head coaches. So it comes down to retreads, long time assistants and the young guys looking to cut their teeth. My gut still says young guy and I really think it's what they need. Just a guy that knows how to relate to the kids and get them motivated to play. We need our own Gress, Pearce or Burgbacher.

Not sure how Vandalia would feel about the split veer, but Herman Boone would be a good fit. Bring in some discipline with it. Offensive minded coach.

Puckett had a good year his first year but that team had talent and leadership just came up short in a playoff game they should have won. The last two years there has been no leadership. 2020 class was a bunch of me guys and no leaders. 2021 class had very low numbers but really only one leader. 2022 has talent and had numbers but they are falling off and not sure if they have much leadership either do to no leadership the last two years. Hopefully between the talent from the 2022 and 2024 and sprinkle in the low numbers from the 2023 class they can start trending up but like a lot on this post have said they need someone to get them excited again.

I just do not see any coach in the area fixing anything with the current talent base. Sprinkle that in demands of parents to do things a certain way, at a certain hour with a certain price. That is not a recipe of success. To win with the current state of affairs you are going to need 5-6 minimal college scholarship football players that their talent just gets it done. We dont have that.

Another very very sad news, the MVL is becoming a very poor bigger school sports conference. A lot of great regular season records, zero post season success. So VB is at the bottom now of a bad conference. Sucks.

Refresh my memory how old is the MVL? Also tell me who the BIG schools are in the MVL.

I know for a fact that certain coaches of other sports have told their kids not to attend lifting for football and even told certain kids to stop playing all together. Nobody on here can say that kids shouldn't play multiple sports and at the same time complain that all sports aren't equally successful. Football is the only sport that is truly physical in nature and our kids are physically outmatched by every other team in the league.

The league is two years old. Guess when you are young and dumb that seems like a long time.

Its not a bigger school sports league. Its D2 and D3 teams.

Do you ever post stuff thats true?

Wrestling is physical and they arent outmatched.

How to fix Butler football in 3 easy steps...
1. Get the AD to stop caring about his parking space more than wins or losses
2. Make it clear that football is king and the rest of the sports can just suck it
3. Hire Zach Smith - he’s paid his dues

You know what? Scratch this Zach Smith idea.

Butler should STRONGLY consider going with a non-cisgendered male for the position of head football coach. Non-binary or gender fluid would probably be best. I know the Superintendent of VB would immediately approve of this, and the positive publicity this would generate for the Aviators is incalculable.
