Ursuline & Cardinal Mooney prospects for 2025

I was actually shocked that the Steelers didn't back out of this years game. We could of beat them by 80 last year. At one point the refs let them snap the ball while the Irish D was on the sidelines talking to the coaches after a time out and they still didn't score. I give Farrell credit, they aren't afraid to play anybody, they just aren't the Farrell of ol right now.
Don't think so highly of yourself.

We were winning 27-0 with 8 or 9 minutes left in the SECOND QUARTER when the game was delayed. Farrell decided they didn't want to finish the game. Its not thinking highly of oneself, its facts.

So who else has seen the video of the brawl at Mooney's prom? If anyone has questions about the current state of Cardinal Mooney high school and the issues they face I refer you to the video in question.

Edit: It seems that the video has been scrubbed from the internet. Which is also very telling.

I did. Two angles of it are still all over Facebook.

Word is that that the antagonizers weren’t from Mooney.

I just saw it on reddit. Evidently it wasn't at prom. It was at some ceremony at the gym that was open to the public and it was some kids from another school coming to fight someone going to prom with a Mooney student. That would kill the anti Mooney agenda from an Ursuline poster though.

Regardless of who the antagonists were it happened on Mooney's school grounds during a school event. It just adds to the narrative of what is happening in and around the school. There is no "agenda" just simple facts.

Maybe go watch the video of the Money softball players fighting in the middle of their game. Yes 2 players from same team fighting on the field. I would send my kids to ursuline and valley before I would send to that hole they still call Mooney

I know there were a few mentions of transfers in this thread. I’m anticipating he will not be the only new face on the roster this year. On top of that we are still waiting to see the size and skill level of the incoming freshmen

Who is the transfer that’s throwing his hat in the ring for QB?

It has been been quietly known for a while that Phillips was coming to Ursuline. He shadowed some time back. He is fast and explosive with really good ball skills. His hudl is fun to watch.

The QB is from Canfield. He is already enrolled and is running track for us. We also got a wr from there too who is also enrolled and running track.

The qb competition is going to be fun to watch.

From all accounts the freshmen are going to be pretty good. Looks like they have a couple of decent sized linemen and the skill should be good, led by Coach Reardons son.

Someone said that if they run track that allows for them to play without forfeiture of game time. Is that true?

I'm not sure about that. Coach Reardon is the track coach now and he wanted the whole football team to participate in track if they weren't playing baseball. It's a brilliant move. As a track guy myself I think all football players should be in track. The benefits are tremendous.

This is a sheer genius move on the part of Reardon. I love it.

Also, welcome to Ursuline, Jadon! After looking at his Hickory highlights, I am excited to see him in a green and gold jersey.

Ursuline is in reload mode, not rebuild. I’d imagine SVSM isn’t the only school that is going to end a contract or not continue to play them. That 5-6 team Catholic conference, or whatever they want to call it, is a big deal for Ursuline to fill half of a schedule. It is not looking like any Mahoning valley teams will be filling any weeks. They will need the likes of Steubenville and teams like that to get 10 games in the next few seasons.
I love the idea of the new Catholic league. But I hope it doesn’t affect both teams games with The Big Red.

Every school with open enrollment is the same. There’s no difference between a private school and an open enrollment school. Mahoning Valley has a lot of these schools. Ursuline’s schedule is all open enrollment opponents, except maybe Farrell, Pa.
With OE its the large metro area schools in the higher divisions who benefit the most. If you take the Mentors, Glenville’s, the local area is large enough to attract a lot of great kids. But if you take the lower division privates like Portsmouth ND. or Steubenville Catholic there are simply not enough kids in the local area to make a difference. And I say this with the assumption that privates and EO schools are essentially the same.
I was surprised to learn that Ursuline caps their enrollment. Is this is a diocese decision, or....? It seems against their interest to cap. Is this done to maintain balance across Ursuline, Mooney, and JFK?
i think it’s safe to say, limited enrollment or not Ursuline or anybody else is not going to turndown a skilled ball player. Their “limiting” will come from refusing enrollment to non athletes.

The school has the final say and they have no qualms about denying an athlete if there is an issue. It happened this year and has happened in the past. The player this year certainly could helped but he didn't meet the schools criteria for admission and didn't get in. Certain other schools may make exceptions but Ursuline doesn't.

👍🏼 Thank you.

Coach better figure out how to win playoff games 2020 lost to mentor 2021 had big lead over Clinton massive lost, 2022 lost to canfield 2023 lost to Chardon 2024 lost to tcc got . maybe this yr

Talent pipeline is smaller. Putting together a team from scratch basically and convincing everyone that Ursuline isn’t a 2-8 program anymore is difficult. No excuses for last years loss in the semis. Our offense needed to produce and it didn’t. Ursuline needs to win the big games and so far we haven’t and any fan will admit that.

I think as class sizes get larger and more talent enrolls there will be more continuity between the years and we won’t be scrambling to fill positions each year.

Jaws would know better but the interior of our Oline last year were very young and still competed to a DII / DIII level

Unlike programs like fitch, Harding and other larger programs in the area Ursuline has to remain relevant and desirable to get literally any kids to play. IMO if reardon didn’t return the program would have been on the chopping block.

Two sophomores started and third split time on the interior o-line. All 3 of them more than held their own, especially down the stretch. The o-line will be a major strength of the team the next two seasons.

In the years that you listed Ursuline is 17-5 in playoff games. You know only 7 teams every year don't lose playoff games right? 99% of the teams in the state would kill to be 17-5 in the playoffs over a 5 year span. Pretty foolish take if you ask me.
Troll.
