Common foes for the Irish & Cards: Steubenville, WGH, Chaney.
Mooney has added Chardon, Canfield & South Range. Have they played these schools on the gridiron before?

Both teams have tough schedules, per usual. Mooney has picked up a couple of really tough opponents and dropped East. It'll be tough to improve on last season with this schedules.

Mooney schedule is a monster!! 3-7 is likely. They will certainly be ready for post season.

I believe Mooney is favorites vs Canfield and Chaney, they’ll find another win somewhere. Maybe MLC or South Range. This is not a shot at either of those schools, just think South Range has a lot of new faces, and vs MLC week 1 teams may be more vulnerable.

Will be interesting to see who starts at QB for Ursuline. Rudzik has turned into a solid D-Linemen, so I'm not sure he'll be behind center
I don't think he will be the starting QB, but he is a nice option if they need him. There aren't a lot of hs football player who can legitimately bench press 400 lbs, let alone ones who can play QB.

There are 2 rising juniors and 1 rising soph that will be battling for the top spot in my opinion. One was the backup to start the season until he broke his hand, the soph was then the backup and played really well and there is a transfer who is already enrolled that has a good arm who will be in the mix. All three are good sized tough athletes that will be playing somewhere if not the starter. Probably on defense is my guess.

Coach Reardons son will be a freshman this year and he was the QB for a very good Saints team.

Rudzik will not be playing under center this year. A very good dlineman for the Irish who is also a good student.

As for as the bench press 400, if true, is pretty damn good.

I would put money that Harding running-clocks Mooney this season...
I agree, WGH is going to be pretty good this year, I’m not sure how they can’t be sizable favorites over Mooney. I posted yesterday Canfield, Chaney, and 1 of either MLC or South Range are winnable games for the Cards. 3-7 is about right in Colaprete’s first season.

I think sophomore Camuso is under center for UHS. As for Mooney- should be an interesting season. Not sure what Canfield has back, but Range is down a little. I think they could get to 5-5 which would be a good season for the Cards. Only time will tell whether or not the new coach will make a difference to the future of CMHS.

Will Ursuline be getting some of those kids from that saints team?

Ursuline can go several different ways at QB, I’d be surprised lf it isn’t 1 of the current Sophomores starting at QB. Every QB in that room is very talented.

Canfield had a lot of boys abandon ship so to speak, they could see the program was a sinking ship as long as the current coach remains. Most players of significance have left the program and gone elsewhere I am told.

Will Irish fans grow weary travelling to Columbus once the Ohio Catholic League is in place? Is there any possibility of other Catholic highs joining this endeavor? It is interesting that Columbus DeSales was on Mooney's original slate for '25 but was dropped. Also Ursuline was set to have another go at VASJ but they are now replaced with Walsh Jesuit.

Good chance the league folds before it starts. Mooney, st Joe’s, St. V’s and Benedictine already pulled out

Because Mooney and VASJ pulled out of the league. That's why they got replaced on the respective schedules.

The travel will be a bit of a pain but having the stability of a league will be worth it. Especially a league of this caliber.

So let me get this straight. The new Catholic League doesn't begin until the '26 season. Because some schools opted out and decided it was not best for them, Ursuline broke contracted games in '25 out of spite??

I wouldn't call it spite. Id say it was more about picking up someone who is more worthy and will be a partner in the league. The Vikings are probably happy to get out of the game. What's the losing streak now? 5 games over 3 seasons?
