Just curious how many of these kids and their parents decide to hold back if the season looks in jeopardy in the summer? I have a kid on this list who will be a true (14yo) freshman at 96 and we've never considered it, but he asked me yesterday if I would let him hold back if the season may be cancelled.

Next year will not be cancelled. If the country is still in trouble then you won’t have to worry about sports because our economy will be so bad u won’t be able to afford a pack of gum. Next year will be fine.

Well, there is talk of pro sports not returning in 2020. Not sure why it is so far fetched for some to believe that the 2020 wrestling season may not happen.

I don't have a child that will be a freshman, but I wouldn't consider holding him back if I did. It would not be an option.

Agreed. And for what it’s worth, to me it seems the serious would-be sophomores and juniors may have the most to lose. Those are the years most kids make their mark as Cadet at Fargo and in folkstyle for college recruiting (I realize senior year is viable too). If wrestling Armageddon happens—they are gonna miss a huge chunk of their most critical exposure.
That said, I am getting more optimistic that Armageddon will be avoided...no specific reason, just a feeling....

Not to downgrade the magnitude of would-be seniors missing out on their last season which is awful—I was just referring to college recruiting aspect.....a freshman missing a year is not nearly as important as soph, Jrs, and Srs....

I really hope this doesn't happen. I will have a senior. At worst, maybe the season will start late. But I think that he will need to be mentally prepared for this to be a reality. Good thing that this sport isn't short on teaching and reinforcing mental toughness.

Boro,
Watkins Memorial has two incoming freshman who are pretty good. Caden Walton and Scott Speakman, I think they’re around 120 and 126. We saw them at the Highland MS tournament in January.
I added Walton, but I believe Speakman is currently in 7th grade.

Hayden Hughes 126/132 (Graham) whose gone toe to toe with some of the best. Someone said he’s only wrestled a few years...must be the groundwater.

It will be interesting to see where all these hammers end up at. I always enjoy this thread after the OAC Jr.High States.

Made a few changes the past couple days, with the biggest one being Jeremy Ginter to Oregon Clay.

Please let me know of any other changes, as I plan on starting to put together my rankings next week (rankings will be released Monday, July 20).
