UC Football 2018

Time will tell on the recruiting front. The reason the class is ranked low is because it only has 15 players due to this being such a young team. Fickell has always been good at evaluating talent and bringing in overlooked players

True but would have liked to see some better quality out of the group. They did pick up a past 4* recruit in high school teammate of UC running back Michael Warren and former UM player, James Hudson. He will have to sit out 2019 but will have 3 years of eligibility if he works out.

On a downer note it was not a good year for Bearcat football recruiting, overall ranked 74 and AAC ranked 7. Nothing above a 3* and highest rated player, Justin Harris, comes in at 698 overall.

https://n.rivals.com/content/prospects/2019/cameron-jones-203766 The state of our class is concerning but there's another signing day in February. We got 4 stars Tavion Thomas and Leonard Taylor last year at the February one. I'm sure the coaches will hit the road following the bowl game.

Ridder injured on the 2nd series of the game. Bearcat defense didn't look great on the first drive - the offense looked very good though until Ridder's injury. They'll probably lose this in the 2nd half, won't be able to score enough points - something like 24-21.

Don't know why Cincy even bothered with the passing game after Ridder went down. VT has one of the worst run defenses in the country

Solid win considering the loss of Ridder. Happy that Moore was able to go out on a high note. Think I saw 3rd 11-win season in school history. Nice job Fickell, staff and players on a great season.

Great win!

Especially without our QB who was looking primed for a huge game before getting hurt. All teams get better as the year goes on but that’s especially true for young teams and VT is very young and much better right now than your typical 6-6 team. Basically a home game for them so this was a gutsy win for the Bearcats.

Thanks. Was on mobile and didn't have good wifi anymore.

Great for UC to get the VT monkey off their back. I'd be shocked if Fickell is still the coach this time next year. Hope they can keep Marcus Freeman so he can eventually take over.

Rumor that Freeman might be OSU's next D - coordinator, have seen very little of UC's games so not sure how good he would do at OSU.

1. Fickell sticking with UC despite being wooed by West Virginia is GREAT news!

2. 11-2 and a bowl victory over a P5 team! Well done boys!

3. I'm disappointed in the upcoming recruiting class. Not a single 4*?! C'mon Luke! Less than a month to go! Make it count!

Keeping fickell for now is huge. Bearcat fans are well aware of how this business works, but hopefully we keep him as long as we can. Him jumping ship needs to be for a "major" player and not just any P5 school. Both for him and the bearcat programs prestige.

His step backward in recruiting is concerning. He had such an incredible class last time, but now we'll have to see if that was just a fluke or if this years step down is. Or maybe these kids are under the radar superstars..

3* - Jonathan Allen - OT - 6'6" - 310 LB

He appears to be the only significant addition today.

He went to HS with Tavion Thomas. That could be why he chose UC over a trough of big programs, including Penn State, Michigan, Wisconsin, WVU, and Ohio State!

Hoping he turns out better than his star rating!

He wasn't a take for most of those schools. He's incredibly raw and got hurt early in the season. Most of those schools wanted to see how he progressed his senior year. However, UC's offensive line was pretty darn good this past year. Whoever the coach is, should he stay, should be able to mold Allen into a possible draft pick.
