UC Bearcats

Escaping with a win kept the Cats’ hopes alive for a bowl game. I look at the back half of the schedule and there are zero gimme wins.

Homecoming this weekend versus a soon to be ranked ASU team should be fun. Although I would have preferred a night game, UC has to take advantage of ASU traveling and playing the game at noon.

ASU starting QB Sam Leavitt is out Saturday. Had an injury to the ribs against Utah last weekend. Former GT starter and Nebraska QB3 Jeff Sims will start in his place.

Nothing more to add about the win, except the sputtering second half has been a problem this year. Still a win!

Now… can they travel to Colorado next Saturday and ruin Deion’s night for win number six?!

I agree that not scoring a point in the second half was disappointing, but they did put together a number of multi-play time consuming drives. I believe Satterfield has evolved into a bit of a game manager, as opposed to some kind of offensive guru. This game had all the earmarks of the PITT game, except with a 20 point lead in the second half we were not out there running double reverse passes and fumbling the ball. Defense has come together, run game is adequate, scoring 24 and winning is more fun than scroring 41 and losing.

UC hung tight with Colorado for the most of the first half, but the game changer was the failed 4th and 1 attempt around midfield that led to a Colorado TD right before the half. 7-10 point swing right there. UC's passing game was also completely inept for most of the second half.

The game drew a clear line in the sand. One team left with (outside) Big 12 title aspirations while the other team will just be happy to make a bowl come December.

Next 4 opponents for UC are a combined 23-8. The Big 12 is indeed wide, not necessarily deep. Hoping they can steal a win in the next few games—especially at home.

Colorado may be the overall fastest team in the country......oh well, we've got another bye this week then West Virginia at Nippert. Hope it's not another noon kickoff.

the only acceptable time to take a sack on 4th down and Sorsby doesn’t take it. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

Encouraging the offense seems to be moving the ball well but that was just a brutally bad decision.

Gotta have a short memory today Sorsby. Only reason WVU is in the game are those 2 turnovers. UC has been dominating elsewise.

Finally finished watching the game. Missed opportunities yet again.

Ain't no way to spin this one......Kansas game last year when we quit in the 3rd qtr was disappointing, but that was in Satterfield's first year. PITT game this year, when we blew a 20 point 2nd half lead was disappointing. Walking out of Nippert after this Saturday's game against WVU was the most disappointed I've felt in awhile. I honestly have no idea where our football program is headed right now, on the field......But, we still get $42 Million a year for being in the BIG12 which is nice.

On paper, the last 3 games look rough. I cannot see this team making a bowl game—which I felt was absolutely necessary to continue with Satterfield. I have to think there is a better option at the HC position moving forward.

Of course, they could steal a win and surprise me. But still, is he the answer?

Another disappointing performance. I think it’s time to look for another HC for this program. Sometimes you just know.
Even state-sponsored propaganda beat guy Chad Brendel at 24/7’s The Bearcat Journal is off the Satterfield bus. That guy talked up Brannen when he was cosching the basketball team, he can find the positive in anything. That’s when you know it’s bad.

I give Satterfield one more year, but Kerry Coombs, the O Line, and D Line coaches gotta go. We are in one of them stretches where every game you are just waiting for something bad to happen. I believe that's what's referred to as a losing culture. 13 penalties for 100 yards, 8 or 9 of which were pre snap don't help. Special teams are an absolute cluster. This ain't good right now.

Brannen is a guy I would like to forget. Haha.

Agree on the culture thing at this point. And it starts at the top. Satterfield is just not a winner on this level. He showed that at Louisville, and now at UC. 😕

I see the Satterfield situation as a Catch-22. By all indications, he's returning in 2025, so best case scenario is we return most of the defense and replace enough departing playmakers on offense to win 7-8 games next season. Worst case scenario is having a season somewhere between 2023 and 2024 where we underperform and miss a bowl.

Worst case scenario gets Satterfield fired but forces the program to start from the ground up again and there's a good chance Cunningham fumbles the hire again. Best case scenario gives Satterfield another year but may lock us into the cycle of being a middle-of-the-pack uninspiring program that Louisville was becoming before Satt got hired away.

If we just did not have the guys to compete, that would make the Satterfield situation a whole lot different. Satterfield has shown he can get guys, what he hasn't shown is that his teams can execute on game day. That's why I say we keep Satterfield around, but we gotta' get some position coaches to clean this thing up. Last year we were noticeably slower all over the field than everybody we played, that's not the case this year. We are, however, so poor fundamentally and so undisciplined that we can not win one score games. The attention to detail is very apparent in our special teams, and our pre snap penalties, and just getting lined up on defense.
