Two Officials for JV Game

Is it that bad now that only two officials were doing a JV game? I have never seen this before. Fans were still complaining on calls……Sad

You’ll soon see basketball with two in varsity and baseball with one umpire in many low level games and non league contests.

And these sweetie parents and Fans are killing Coaching ! Listen on the Radio or Watch Steaming if you’re that Miserable !
Many people do. The fans today are no worse than 50 years ago, the difference SM. At my local school the HC back in the late 90's had a fence put up to push the fans back so he didn't have to listen to the fans yell at him. In the NFL fans use to throw beer bottles and snowballs onto the field remember Sam Wyche speech to Bengals fan when they were acting unruly you don't live in Cleveland. Difference today is SM, and everybody is so thin skinned.

The fans are different than they were 5 years ago as well as 50. Parents of terrible players now think they have a college player.

In general K-8 sports are taken way too seriously anymore. You’d think there’s playoff points at stake in some of these JV games

I played a freshman football game in early 70s with ONE ref. He was no nonsense guy and kept threatening ejection keep to order. The game got played.

Most frosh and JV volleyball matches require parents to help the R1 & R2 by line judging. I get a kick out of it because these parents get first hand experience in making calls; the look of fear on some of their faces is priceless.

I did some officiating when I first graduated from college. Love for a parent or two to have to assist the ref(s) in other sports at the frosh or JV level.

Like many jobs.... the pay simply isn't worth it to most anymore. This is definitely getting way worse before it improves.
Did they split the 4 official fee?
This is how it gets fixed. Now that 3 officials is becoming commonplace for sub varsity, the pay has really improved for these games. I'd say at this point Friday nights are not where the money is made. JH games see only four fouls usually anyways; block in the back, holding, false start and encroachment. You're telling me $50-70 a game isn't enough for that age?

If it was, people would be flocking to do it. It's not worth the hassle that comes with being an official.

Money talks.

Some AD's will lie telling officials there are 3 (only schedule 2), then not pay the additional money for not having a third. They will try to do this is baseball and softball as well. I've heard similar stories in Volleyball but do not officiate that sport. Officials talk to one another and we talk at association meetings.
