And to be fair, I don’t know much when it comes to the private school game. What does St Francis have to offer by way of coaching contacts to draw guys in? What are their facilities like? How’s the weight program, etc…. I think all of those things really mean just as much as finding a good coach. Are the supports in place to create a winning program?

He was young once. There's Cromwells out there. Income and time are bigger concerns than maybe 30 years ago. They need to find some good football playing Priests. Be about time a Catholic school actually had a cassock wearing a whistle. Check one of those Italy teams. Heck nuns can coach. Though that could lead to allegations of knuckle abuse.
SFS still attracts a fit kid and my ineducated view, this is how most of the top teams stay on top.. The best burbs are not cranking out tons of D1 talents. They have a depth of high average fit and knowledgeable players able to be composed and follow direction. They do their part. A solid QB and good in-game managers don't hurt. These were the teams that gave TCC a game in last year's play-offs, with a whole lot less perceived talent. This was to some lesser extent, Defiance.

So they interviewed Josh Lindke (Otsego), Rahsan Wilson (Scott) and then the OC on staff John Allen who claims he’s a big college guy but coached one year at a bad D2. Allen was also responsible for getting the former head coach fired.
Not a great group of finalists, but it isn’t a very attractive job. Rahsan is the best candidate. Him and his father are big in the TPS community. Will be the best chance to recruit players to SFS.
But whoever they hire doesn’t solve the admins unwillingness to commit to football being successful. They simple don’t care about football.

I don't know who the D2 guy is or what school he's coming from but the other two are head scratchers. Scott goes 5-5 and had some decent talent for the city league. Otsego has a couple less wins than last year but makes the playoffs. Not sure why either one would leave for a sub par SFS program that clearly seems like it's more than just the football side of things making it tough to be a productive program.
Are either one capable of turning SFS around into even just a somewhat competitive program?

The St. Francis job is better than both because of the tradition, active alum, and the easier ability to get kids from anywhere versus Scott or Otsego. Both Scott and Otsego are better because of the likely higher pay and generous STRS plan when compared to St. Francis' pay and 403(b).
St. Francis football can matter again with the right coach and some stability.

The teachers and admin do, typically. Public school teachers and admin typically make 25%-33% more than their Catholic counterparts.
So? We’re talking about coaches here. And I know for a fact SFS pays more than both than both.

It depends how you look at the job.
If you are a teacher, the Otsego job is the best one. You will get paid the most and be apart of a union. In terms of football, you will get paid more at SFS as a football coach. I would also agree the potential at SFS is higher. But it comes with some stipulations. It all goes back to two things. Can the new head coach recruit year in and year out and will the admin change? I say the first one can happen, look at what Chipka did. He had them at 7-3 his last year and they beat AW in the playoffs. However, the second one most likely will not. The reality is St. Francis cares more about academics and their traditional country club sports than anything (hockey, lacrosse, baseball, swimming). In addition, most of the “active alum” won’t give money to the school anymore because the school doesn’t give money to just football they spread it out among all athletics. So all these past alums aren’t even supporting the school anymore. The last Perrysburg QB and the current one’s dad was a SFS alum who played football at SFS. He sent his kids elsewhere, that’s just one of many.
With that being said, I do think Otsego is the better job overall. You aren’t battling St. John’s and Central Catholic for kids or battling them from stealing your top ones. Plus, you play in a league where you can more than compete, community and admin will support you, and you can make deep playoff runs. They just went to the final four a few years ago.
Makes no sense to me Josh Lindke wants to go to St. Francis, the grass is not always greener. Unless he is getting ran out, which we have all heard on the NBC thread is likely.

Is he getting pushed out? People have been talking about this since early in the season. If not, I said it a long time ago on the NBC thread, I don't understand why Lindke would want to leave the Otsego job. At least this early.
Will Otsego take another step in the wrong direction next year? Is he jumping ship to not be the head of that?

Is there any active tradition? I know they have a great history but I think any tradition is gone. They also lack alumni interest. The old SF families are all gone.
Other than that I agree that with the right person it can happen but it will have to be someone special.
