I enjoyed the Hobbit movies, are they as good as LOTR? No, but Thranduil was probably the most badass character in all 6 movies and it did have the two most powerful characters face off for a brief moment.

I know there are a lot of people who are big fans of the Tom Bombadil chapter but Tolkien himself felt he didn't add much to the story. It's more of a novel's version of a filler episode.
