Whatever happened to those guys? Once again a "conservative" POTUS, House and Senate...and straight back to trillion+ deficits. Just like last time.

Is this the final nail in the coffin of "conservatism"? If GOP doesn't have fiscal responsibility, family values, or rule of law to run on anymore, will poor uneducated white guys and racial division be enough to carry the day?

Well every time the tea party tried to govern like the constitution suggest politicians govern your far left activist buddies in congress and the media all but called for the death of those members of congress. I often wonder if those members of the media and left wing activist members of congress which by the way includes some republicans in congress go to church or have families or support any rule of law? I suspect not since they seem to hate those pillars of society that built this country. By the way I hope you don't have any children or grand children because if you do you better tell them to forget entitlement programs because when they get old enough to need them they won't be there and that won't be because of the tea party.

Yes, poor uneducated white guys will rule! If you can't beat 'em, join 'em.

I believe the primary argument against Trump was that he WASN'T a conservative..... Congress has demonstrated that they run on conservatism and govern by socialism for decades.

...and the christian right is fine with domestic violence, adultery with porn stars and pedophilia.

Well duh. Btw I happen to like our First Lady her buck naked come f me photo is my screen saver, but how could she possibly stay married to a cheater? Has she no dignity, right pubs? :)

Not exactly. They are very conservative, but only under Democratic rule. Even during an economic crash and runaway unemployment...not a single stimulus vote.

To answer my own obvious question, Tea Party, Freedom Caucus, et al, lost their voice the moment Obama left office. Period.

No, the GOP hijacked it long before that.

The Tea party's voice is out there , it is just not very loud, they have lost volume. If you have been listening to reports not many expected for Trump to be as conservative has he has been.

I feel you TD, but don't play the victim. Nothing got hijacked. It never existed. What existed was a black guy with a muslim sounding name and fake birth certificate got elected.

Yeah sure, that must have been it. I guess we'll just ignore that it began in 2007 before that black guy with a muslim sounding name was elected? And on top of the that your're going to pretend that the GOP did not try it's best to latch on to the Tea Party movement after they saw the support it was garnering.

In a bit of coincidental thread timing, the guy who hacked Sarah Palin's email passed.

In a VERY classy move, Palin said what occurred in 2008 "did not define" the young man. Probably won't have legs, that's how he will be identified but still, a valid attempt.

The race card...how original.

You understand there still are Republicans arguing for less spending. The Tea Party, Freedom Caucus whatever never was the majority of Republicans in Congress...much to the disappointment of many Republican voters.

If you weaponize the IRS against any organization and its members it will definitely impact its viability... Yes the brownshirts won that round.

It's always touching to see how much the progressive left "loves" the Tea Party now that this group has been destroyed by a vicious smear campaign led by these very same progressives with help from the useful idiots in the news media. I mean it seems like just last week that you and your fellow travelers were accusing the Tea Party of being "racist".

Oh and to make sure your side killed the Tea Party movement your beloved President Obama sicked the IRS on them. Of course the GOP establishment didn't help matters much by accepting Tea Party support while simultaneously neutering their message.

But in the end the Tea Party got their revenge and his name is DONALD TRUMP, President of these United States.

The last tea party event mentioned on Wikipedia was in 2010. It's not like the TP disappeared on election day in 2016.

Associating Trump with the Tea Party movement, especially the pre-GOP portion is ridiculous.

Tea Party was for lower taxes and less government so Trump does fit a part of their mantra. He was also taking on the Washington DC establishment which the Tea Party was fighting as well. Trump may not be as conservative as the die hard Tea Partiers but there was plenty in his approach to the White House and DC that fit right in with the Tea Party objectives.

I'm usually with you most of the way on a lot of things, lotr, but I'd have to say Trump's only connection to the TP would be in that they failed to bring change, so he brought it his own way.

I'd be curious to hear your take on examples of an Obama weaponized IRS taking out the Tea Party.

So he decent (not great) on the tax issue, not good so far on government spending, and in some areas he wants less government and others more. Also, Trump's resume as anti-establishment isn't exactly up there with former Tea Party candidates.

Give him time it's only been his first year but he's upset the apple cart enough in that first year that he has the Rhinos just as upset as the Democrats. In the end there really isn't much difference between Rhinos and long term Democrats because they've all been in DC too long. If the next year doesn't show more effort toward cutting spending and even more work on the taxes then he'll start feeling more heat. But for now I think what he's done so far is exactly what DC needed, we just need more of it.

To be clear I didn't mean to imply that Trump was a Tea Party candidate or that he even sympathized with their agenda. By & large he doesn't outside of wanting lower taxes. For sure Trump is not a deficit hawk, he's more along the lines of a deficit dove.

My point was that the left and folks like TP brutalized the Tea Party and recklessly threw out accusations that they were racist & heartless. The media would routinely attend Tea Party rallies, ignore 99% of the decent folks there and seek out the one wack job with a racist t shirt to interview. And even here it became clear that a lot of those that showed up with KKK or Nazi paraphernalia were in fact left wing PLANTS trying to discredit the Tea party.

So my point with Trump was simple: Watch out who you demonize and destroy today because what comes next might be FAR WORSE. And I think we can all agree that for the progressive left Trump is their worst nightmare. Because the bottom line is that after the left & media unfairly slandered the Tea Party, it made it much more difficult for them to use the same tactics to slander Trump. Sort of a case of the boy who cried wolf!
