In 2007, a group of five called the SLIMS Committee dug deep to come up with an all time top ten for those who start their journey to state at what is now called the Mason, Ross, or New Richmond district meet, In 2015 that top ten was expanded to a top 25. Now in 2022, the current top 25 is being increased to a top 50. Here is the initial event done -- the boys 400m dash. Corrections requested.

I discovered an error in the 800m run. I didn't have Ryan Chevalier listed. He goes to #22 in bold with a mark run in 2022. The list has been corrected.

Hi, Lancer. Adam Thomas is listed at 13 & 24 on the 1600 list. Fitz Read should be 95 not 85, correct? Also, is Zach Hoffman at 44 from Moeller? This is awesome, by the way.

I am curious about the Reed Redmond performance in the 880. The only time I saw his name during the 1974 season was on the 4/18/1974 honor roll at 2:04.0. He wasn't even Anderson's second best 880 man (Helming ran at sectional). Is it possible Mike Shields ran this time? Shields ran 4:20.2 at state to finish 7th in the mile - his best time of the season - and was the 880 sectional champ. Thoughts?

You can put Reed Redmond back on the list for that 1:55.0 performance at that meet. All the info was correct. I have photos of the newspaper clippings from the '74 meet and will post later today (I'm on the road today). Reed was 55+ through the 440. The newspaper article about that performances was by Denny Dressman in the Cincinnati Enquirer. That article quotes Redmond as saying he surprise himself, and that his only other attempt at the 880 that year had been a 2:04
 
The guru for Ohio track & field has given us pause in the Reed Redmond saga. The meet was the SWO all star meet which ironically had his same name. Each class had different races while Reed ran in the race for seniors only. At one time I had the results from that meet which were published by Don Connolly, the road racing guru in Cincy, don't know if I can find them

Yes siree, I not only found the results from the meet but also a program. The meet was called the Earle Redmond All-Star Meet. Redmond is listed with a seed time of 1:59.5. In the final results Redmond's time is listed as 1:55.0 in the Senior 880, second place went to Courter Tech's Kelley also in 1:55

I suspect when I get home this evening I'll also find confirmation of Reed on Anderson's all-time lists I got from Andy Wolf back in the 1995 era

Joe Cooper (#31 800m) ran his 1:54.31 in the 1989 state meet on June 3rd.
 
Yes, you are correct on the date. Another change is that in 1989 the big school division was AAA not DI
 
I guess you're saying you like the division now being called DI, btw Reed Redmond now has been restored to the 800/880 rankings. I wonder if Reed Redmond is any relation to the person the All Star meet was named after -- Earle Redmond

What I was trying to say is that A, AA, AAA was based on enrollment numbers without trying to keep equal numbers of schools in each division. If there are 600 schools and it makes more sense to group them AAA=120, AA=260, A=220, that was done. The numbers I just listed are examples. No thought went into them so I am NOT advocating specific numbers for each division without looking closely. I favor having a smaller D1 much like the football super-division. I understand the division concept was implemented to be alike with other sports, level playing field for some be damned.

I apologize for steering this thread a different direction. I will not post anything more on this thread.
