We've heard of the guy's qualifications, but I can't understand why Hoban tolerates behavior that casts such a bad light.

If you support Hoban you don't see it that way. Look at the success of it's programs and it leads directly to coach Winkler and his commitment to excellence. Here is his resume and some accomplishments. Local Guy all the way who is among the elite of his profession.

Michael Winkler was hired as Hoban's Director of Strength and Conditioning in 2014. He spent eight years as a strength and conditioning coach in Major League Baseball, working for the Pittsburgh Pirates (2012-13), the Los Angeles Dodgers (2009-11) and the Cleveland Indians (2006-08). He began his career as a graduate assistant strength and conditioning coach at the University of Akron. A graduate of Barberton High School, Winkler received a Bachelor of Science degree in physical education from Walsh University in 2004. At Walsh, he played offensive guard in football and a catcher in baseball. In 2005, Winkler received a Master of Science degree in Sports Science and Coaching from the University of Akron. He is a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist (CSCS), as well as a Registered Strength and Conditioning Coach (RSCC) through the National Strength and Conditioning Association. He was named Ohio State Director for the National High School Strength Coaches Association (NHSSCA) in January of 2017, and NHSSCA Regional Strength Coach of the Year in 2019. I understand an appreciate his background and accomplishments. However, his behavior obviously draws negative attention.

Both of these types of coaches are annoying, and tbh coaches shouldn’t be running their mouths to players, especially kids. So can we shut down this thread and say both of these morons are at fault for their actions? I understand being a hype man for your players but that should be in the locker room or personal. Don’t need to be yelling profanities on the field for all to hear or dressing like a pimp/ carrying work tools. IMO it just makes it seem like they’re trying to relive their high school careers that no one cares about after you graduate.

That's awesome. I bet he's a awesome guy. Doesn't mean you have to tough guy high school football players pre-game. Looks classless, IMO.

Haha. Thats why none of these alleged antics by Hoban or SVSM or Massillon trouble me in the slightest. I've seen it all. Its hillbilly elegy where I'm from, yo. Yall think a hoban coach cussing is the epitome of shenanigans, yall haven't seen anything. Come to some of these MAC matchups. Also, I know Im younger, but lets just say, Ive heard stories about our PAC days. Battle for route 93. That one involved motorcycle gangs. I'll just leave it at that.

Thats why I dont hold it against Hoban or Massillon for these unsportsmanlike allegations. But I do hold it against SVSM's administration for being too sensitive. And probably hypocritical. I'm sure the SVSM crowd/even coaches are not any better.

I dont care about shenanigans. But I dislike pretentiousness.

Agree on smack talking from coaches, players do enough. We need less of all of it. Having said that everyone deserves a second chance. You can't keep this guy off the field! He attends most if not all sporting events for both boys and girls and is their biggest cheerleader. I am sure he has been instructed to tone it down. Time will tell.

I know Coventry. It's all good! I'd have them back in the PAC in a New York minute but the MAC seems like a pretty good league and then there's school politics.

I don’t think any current faculty or alumni from either Hoban or STVM approves or supports unprofessional behavior.

TK and DiMauro are doing a great job and exemplify Holy Cross values. I’m glad they are running the show!

BTW, congrats to TK and Hoban for the victory over St Eds. I made sure to congratulate him via email and tell him he’s doing a great job at Hoban.

I heard an umpire in the baseball state tournament kept him off the field by having him removed from the venue.

Any backstory on what he could possibly be doing before/during a baseball game that gets him removed from the stadium? 😂 baseball is not the high intensity emotional sport that football is

When I heard that story, I felt like he was “The Bat Dad” for the Southpark episode starting parent to parent fights for the opposing kids baseball tournament 🤦

True, but is also a smaller venue, and umps, like basketball refs are more tuned in to that type of nonsense.

That might be a, “you’re banned from campus” situation. I don’t think he’s coaching bball at STVM anymore.

People need to be very transparent with their investments or else they are in big trouble. I can tell you it’s painful with taxes and having a monetized YouTube channel. You need to be crystal clear with your tax advisor or you’re in big trouble!
