Summit County Top 10

Watched it. The kid was down. Stinks how it unfolded, but 44 was down. Nice hard run, but several Wadsworth kids stopped playing fully because he was down. I'm sure the dads out there feel otherwise, but all I care about is fairness.

And, in fairness, he was down.
Agreed, he looked down. Hudson gained about 7 yards and a first down on the spot. He was down at the 35 after a 4-yard gain, but the spot was at the 28. If the Hudson field goal had gone in and within that margin of distance, there would be some opinions on that.

There was a play with like 2 minutes left where the Hudson RB got hit after about a 5 yard run. His knee and forearm both hit, but he popped up to continue running down to the Wadsworth 2 yard line. The Wadsworth kids pretty much eased up because it looked like he was down, so he was able to get a big gain. Originally, the refs placed the ball at the 2, but after discussion they agreed the runner was down originally and placed the ball there.

If I were a fan or parent, I would've been upset at first because the play continued to run.
But FBLFAN is right, the player was obviously down. If you see it otherwise, you are a jaded fan/parent. You can see the knee hit clear as day.

Hudson fans always think the refs are out to get them. I sat on their side for their playoff game in Ravenna last year and they were losing their minds about a pass interference call. After the game I saw them on here or Twitter or somewhere complaining about the officials. Yet, the stats showed they had like 4 penalties called on them as opposed to 12 called on the other team.

Selective memories run rampant in clocktowertown.

REFHUD!!
"The Wadsworth kids pretty much eased up because it looked like he was down" - whatever happened to playing through the echo of the whistle? There was no whistle. 6 refs in the middle of the action - no whistle. Wadsworth was smart to ease up because the looked down. GTFO. Then the refs just guessed at spot and time remaining. Still should have made the kick and then it's a non factor....And that was a bogus PI call in Sweet 16 vs Walsh last year - changed the momentum of the game.

Explorers beat the Knights ;)

ROLLHUD!!!!

You are as jaded of an entitled hudson person as there is.

Anyone that wants to know what's the difference between a person from hudson and a hudsonite, please look no further, for we have found a hudsonite in the wild!

They are so used to just hiring a lawyer to sue someone that it carries over onto Friday nights. They never lose - they only get screwed by the refs. Blame everyone else because we are perfect!

I'm happy to find a link to that PI call from last year. Perhaps you can share with my how it was a bogus call.

ROLLREFS!

Wait, I see that I need more exclamation points to do it the right way.

ROLLREFS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Clearly not PI. Clearly.

If only the refs called a fair game. If only.

Sounds like sour grapes.

Those pictures are damning. LOL

Thanks Tim. I stand corrected, but in real time and after a few pregame beers, those calls that you captured with the benefit of slow motion, looked a little different. I'm sure you understand pulling for your team in big situations during huge games.

Why the Hudson hate tho? You sat on their side in huge game and heard their fans complain about close calls? That leads to the hate? For weeks you been fairly vocal about your dislike of a really nice town. What did Hudson do to hurt you? The public schools are consistently rated amongst the best in the nation and they are incredibly competitive in almost every sport. Make no mistakes - there are A-holes that live here, but the vast majority are great, community centered people that support their athletic teams.

Maybe I missed it, but what school do you support? Where are you from? I'm proud enough to put Hudson as my pic. You think you're the first person to talk some crap about Hudson or the team my kids have played on? I've heard it all, for years.

What would people say about your town/team if it was out there for everyone to know?

ROLLHUD!!!

I don't hate Hudson at all. I actually enjoy the downtown and have a lot of friends from Hudson. But I don't care for hudsonites, and I find there to be a higher percentage of them now than ever. They are most likely the ones that blindly complain about the refs constantly. Never said it was all of them, but I do know when I was at the game it was bad.

On another note, they are as bad as any other community when it comes to complaining about parochial schools. When they were obliterated by Hoban in the playoffs a couple years ago it again pointed to "it's OHSAA's fault and public shouldn't play private". It's always someone else's fault. Yet, they didn't pull the same card earlier in the playoffs when they beat Walsh. They only pull it when it's convenient.

Lat I checked, Massillon was public. They didn't complain. Springfield didn't complain after the Moeller game. Just observations.

But don't be flattered, there are many others that I have little respect for. Lake County refs. A lot of Mentor 'fans'. Iggy entitlement. The list goes on and on.

And rollhud will always be douchey.

To be fair Springfield's coach complained about Eds. a couple of years ago, Stow complained about losing to Eds and Iggy in the playoffs. Massillon complained in the past after getting drubbed by Moeller and Ignatius. It's not just Hudson.

You're right. Complainers everywhere. Basketball is even worse. Officiating isn't great, but certain fanbases use it as a crutch.

My point is Hudson is one of a few communities I've observed in person to blame the officiating. Others do it, too. But in person Hudson is easily top 5 in complaining. Iggy is up there too. Stow is a shitshow.

It's honestly disappointing to look at this list. I didn't realize how much of Summit County is really in bad shape, football-wise.

Tier 1: Hoban
Tier 2: Walsh
TIer 3: Nordonia, STVM, Hudson
Tier 4: Buchtel, Tallmadge, CVCA, Green
Tier 5: Twinsburg, East
Tier 6: Everyone else

It's always interesting to go back and review your own rankings. Here are my updates:
Tier 1: Walsh & Hoban
Tier 2: Nordonia
TIer 3: Hudson & Green
Tier 4: CVCA, Tallmadge, Twinsburg
Tier 5: Revere, Copley, Manchester, Norton
Tier 6: Everyone else

I know Manchester is a good story. But we will see how they fare against Triway & CVCA.
As for city series, I've gone to watch two games this season. This isn't anywhere close to what the city series ever was. It resembles football, but I can't in good conscious put any team in the top 5 tiers. It really has deteriorated.

Buchtel Should be in 5 at least

I saw them play. Maybe...maybe...but city series is so down that it's tough to gauge how good or bad they are. The film on Ellet is a non-starter. Ellet's offensive line averaged 5'8" 225lbs.
And watching them play Hoban, it was like OSU playing Muskingum.

Maybe I'll make a Tier 6 with Buchtel and East and then Tier 7 will be everyone else.

Yes it a big game next week buchtel vs East I think buchtel maybe beat all those teams in tiers 5

1walsh

2 hoban
3 hudson
4 green
5 cvca
6 tallmadge

I still believe Nordonia is slightly better than Hudson, but the gap between the two teams is very small. Hudson defeated Nordonia without their talented running back, but Nordonia had several chances to secure the win. I saw Hudson's first game against Highland, and they looked impressive. If this is a down year for them with many underclassmen, Hudson is in a solid position for the future.

Anyone from Hudson want to explain what happened Friday? Haven’t found a single good write up outside of an AI Maxpreps article.

ROLLDUD!!!

No depth and no dirty work guys….or not close to enough. North Royalton pushed Hudson’s dline all over Memorial on Friday. We used have 85-100 guys, now there’s 50. The sophomore class has 15 guys on the roster. That’s a new problem for Hudson in a league that is becoming increasingly mediocre by the year.

Every time I look at this it reminds me of how down Summit Co is this year.

Hudson Phil has been awfully quiet as of late. Roll Who?
Kind of crazy what happened there. They're one of the teams I follow due to some friends in the area. Haven't seen much of them in person this year, but I do check out their game replays and talk to my friends about them. I can't quite figure it out. Their defense looked like world beaters for most of the season then just fell apart. The offense was always pretty average. They rolled up scores against bad teams and struggled against the good ones.

They were young (13 seniors) and thin on numbers and experience to begin with. Injuries have compounded things. I would be surprised if they won in Boardman. Things should return to normal in 2025.
