State track meet back to Welcome Stadium this spring?

Hopefully that means a return to Jesse Owens in 2025. Welcome Stadium is a wonderful facility, but it aint Jesse Owens.

It’s been many years since I’ve been to welcome stadium. Have they cleaned it up at all? It was kind of a dump last time I was there.

FYI Seating capacity

Jesse Owens- 10,000
Welcome Stadium- 11,000

The most notable difference in the previous setup- the long jump is no longer next to the stands. The long jump has moved to the infield. This will be nice for the visitor's stadium and clogging up the area.

Jesse Owens is a top-tier track/soccer stadium in the country.
Positives- OSU is the U in Ohio. Center of the state, Columbus a lot to do and many hotel rooms.
Negatives- parking is terrible.

Welcome Stadium- was run by a corrupt AD and school system. I hope this puts them over the hump with the renovations and new leadership.
Positive- parking is better. Nothing else is going on around UD.
Welcome did host a College Football Bowl game 60 years.
Negatives- no discus ring anywhere on site- that will be interesting for those kids. No shade anywhere. No trees. Concrete jungle.

Last I knew, there was a discus sector in that park northwest of the parking lot. There was a tree hanging over the sector which would occasionally get hit by a legal throw. Google Earth images are showing a lot of dirt being moved in that park in July of 2022, so it's hard to say what the status of that sector is.

Another option might be the UD throwing sectors on the other side of the boulevard by the Mariott. But, that's likely another rental contract to hammer out. (Pun intended)

Is it a 9 lane track? Do we step backwards and not have the at large qualifiers on the track, or do we get the same number and just have odd sections or, will there be more at large to fill out the lanes?

Picture in the OP link only shows 8 lanes.
That could be an issue. Finals are only 8 not 9. I cannot even remember what we did in 2021. I guess it would be the same. We had at large then and 8 to the finals. I'm over thinking.

Glad it’s just a 1 yr. thing, but unfortunately the seniors missed competing at JO their freshman year and they will miss that opportunity their senior year too. JO is just special and different than any other venue

That's the way us older farts felt about competing in Ohio Stadium. THE stadium of Jesse Owens. THE stadium of Charles "Chic" Harley, the man who "built Ohio Stadium". Chic Harley, legendary OSU & Columbus North football/track star who competed and placed in the state meet back on the old Ohio Field before Ohio Stadium was ever a thought.
