State Meet thoughts/predictions

That was one that I was torn between. I assumed that both teams had 2 that were tapering for districts and 2 that were tapering for state. I expected that the winner would break the record. It may very well come down to how well swimmers 3/4 hold their tapers as the top 2 will probably wash each other out. Hopefully the STF guys don't want it so bad that one of them leaves early.

The were very conservative this past two weeks, and will probably be in prelims also. But, the slowest split could be 21 flat!!!

They have been coached this year for that purpose and have had the same lineup for quite some time now. So... All I know is that the St. Francis community could not take 3 years in a row!!!

House and Brodie will split 19's

Bombers had a few years in a row where DiSalle was bringing it home for the Knights on the relays. He was an incredible clutch swimmer.

Prelims just finished:
If all stays as is team score would be X 238; StF 231; & Moeller 192. All have some room to move up in individual points. All are swimming very well. StF & Moeller moved all but 1 of their swims to finals or consols while X had 5 swims eliminated. StF is top seed in Medley & 200R with X right behind in Medley and sitting 4th in 200R. Moeller only made the second heat in the 200R. StF is 2nd in 400R & X is 3rd with Moeller at 5th. This could literally come down to the 400R if everyone holds their place. Should be a great finals!

The girls meet is interesting as well and will be very competitive. After prelims Ursuline leads UA 291 to 261. Neither team has a diver. Ursuline has 6 individual top seeds and UA has 1. But UA has much more room to move up with 8 more individual swims. Ursuline is top seed in all 3 relays. UA is 2d in freestyle relays and 4 in medley. Ursuline could hold all their places and still lose if UA can move enough up. Should make for a very good meet!

It looks like Mason has not moved up much....Upper Arlington has a slight lead over Mason with their depth.....Tol St F looks real strong so far

st F gained a little in the B final of the fly...every points going to count here...the 100 free results could decide the outcome for the women....with 7 athletes from Upper Arlington,Ursuline and Mason involved in both races....if someone going to make a move on Ursuline it's got to be now....

Ursuline May have closed the door with a 1,4,9 finish in the 100 free...Upper Arlington probably is a solid 2nd....St X is probably slightly behind St F still...after the 500 Free should lengthen their lead over Mason and make it a two team race against Ursuline

Congratulations to the Moeller Crusaders for their 3rd place finish at State. This for a team that does not have a pool at its school..GBM

Congratulations to the Bombers!! A team effort once again. Grant House brings it home in the 400FR. Great swimming once again from TSF, and kudos to Big Moe, our GCL brothers, for their great swimming as well.

Congrats to St. X again. Grant House deserves all of the attention that he is getting. St. Francis put up an outstanding fight, but came up one swimmer short once again. This is the 3rd time in the last 5 years that one more St. Francis swimmer would have meant victory.

The job Brent Ransom did with the St. Francis Knights is beyond amazing, especially due to the fact that he took over in late August. There has been a ton of highly talented swimmers coming through St. Francis over the past 5 years or so, and hopefully Brent Ransom can get all of the talent in the Toledo area to come swim for him in the future to keep giving St. X fits and maybe bring a title or two back to Toledo.

Agree! Wonderful meet with the top teams all swimming very well. Looks like St.X has another star in House. Certainly have to consider him swimmer of the year. Not bad for a freshman. St.F looks like they have found their coach. He absolutely had the Knights swimming their best when it was most important. Also, appears that he will have the Knights competing all through the season as he did this year, swimming the Big 8, Viking Invite & the Ned Reeb. That's nice to see. And if anyone is going to topple X in the near future, it looks like their the likely candidate.

2nd in the 200 Free - 1:47.90
2nd in the 500 Free - 4:49.45
Swam on 3rd place 200 Free Relay & 6th place 400 Free Relay

I know the results, was just looking to see why she didn't repeat in the 200/500 when she was considered the best female swimmer in the state. Was she looking a head to another event this spring :)

Don't know that there is anything to explain...

It took a state-record shattering swim from her RAYS teammate and another incredible swimmer to beat her (1st 200 free; 1st 100 free; 2nd 200 free relay; 1st 200 medley relay)in the 200 freestyle and she got beat down the stretch in the 500 by another RAYS teammate and remarkable swimmer who also had an unreal meet (1st 500 free; 1st 200 IM; 1st 400 free relay; 1st 200 medely relay).

The women of Ursuline were the defending state champs and got paddled by Mason at Districts... so they came out on a mission and swam like the champions they are at state.

Zoe has nothing to feel bad about. Multiple state championships and school records, and now headed off on D1 scholarship to a swimming powerhous in Auburn University to continue her career! Sounds pretty good to me! :)

Agreed. Throw a couple trips to Junior Nationals (maybe senior nationals??) in there before heading off to school. She'll be just fine.
