State titles isn't the be all end all in comparing programs. Springfield has a long way to go to do what Mentor did. Mentor and Eds would win region 2 most years but I admit they usually have one solid team at least. Right now it's your school
Maybe Ed's but not Mentor. Last year, Mentor would not have beaten Springfield. What has Mentor done lately that Springfield hasn't?

Since it's also mentioned here, virtually no one respects region 2 as well, especially Cincinnati and Cleveland. It's assumed you got a cakewalk and weren't all that good, which I find somewhat ironic as outside of one year of Olentangy Liberty getting crushed the region 2 champ has been extremely competitive the last 5-6 years in the state semifinals. Last year's state final, while I imagine Pick Central would be much more competitive in than game 9 times out of 10, left me feeling like Springfield could have won state.

Iggy even if they go 3-7 or 4-6 I wouldn't be surprised if they had some postseason success and wind up being a very tough out. Almost every week they are getting a week 12 or better opponent.
Right. R2 used to be very weak but they balanced it out by moving Dayton and NW Cbus into R2.

Better do a little research if you think Springfield has done as much as Mentor in the last 15-20 years. It isn't comparable

Region 2 usually has a solid top team. But as for overall region and tough road, they don't compare to region 1 or 4. Sorry

I'm only interested in comparisons during the Coach Douglass Era. If you wanna go back in the day, Springfield was a very big state power in football when they were a member of the GOL. But that's not relevant to the here and now and the current generation of players. And, correct me if I'm wrong but last year, didn't Medina do the heavy lifting in R1 by getting rid of both Ignatius and Ed's in the playoffs? Mentor didn't face a private school either in the playoffs in R1. So, I don't understand your point.

I don't care about how you try to spin it or what you are interested in. By any measure they haven't been a better program. Your schedule and road haven't been as tough for those final 4's and your sole proof is a loss to st x. Great game played by your school and that's fine but you haven't done as much

And yes region 2 as a whole isn't region 1. I do think Mentor wins it most years.

Mentor didn't play a private school in the playoffs last year even in R1. They got beat by a public school in the state semifinals, right? Wasn't it SHS who barely lost to a private school in the state semifinal who then cakewalked to the state title in the next game? Last year, Mentor was the joke in the final 4.

The public school they killed beat St Eds the week prior and Ignatius the week before that ....

Again do some research on Mentor vs those two in the playoffs. Beaten them plenty

You're the one who criticized R2 for not having private schools. Well, what private schools did Mentor encounter in the playoffs last year?

It's how the bracket fell. The point is you NEVER have any private schools to go through. And that makes a big difference

Also we lost by 7 to pc with our sophomore QB making his first start after our all Ohio QB was out due to covid tracing

Yeah, you lost to a public school that got whitewashed before halftime by the private school SHS barely lost to because of a missed FG. Sorry but I'm not following you here. And, didn't your all Ohio qb lose to PC by 7 points too the year before?

Yes because high school teams stay the same from year to year all the time ..

The logic you are using doesn't work in football. 2 matchups going a certain way doesn't mean taking the losers of those two games will give the win to the one who lost by less ( transitive property )

Mentor lost to eds in the regular season last year. Medina beat eds. Mentor beat Medina twice

I'm glad this thread is about St. Ignatius football. Perhaps you should take your bickering to the Mentor thread. They never get their threads hijacked.

Thanks hall monitor. I tried but this guy is persistent. He can pm me if he wants. Said what I had to

Thank you for monitoring the board once again ?

I was a hall monitor in 6th grade. It's in my blood. Now, let's get to more important things. I was sad to see that the MentorCityFest was held last weekend. I enjoyed going to it on the Fridays Ignatius played at Mentor whenever the game fell on that weekend.

I could definitely see you being a hall monitor from your many posts with that tone on here over the years ?

I agree that Better in Mentor was cool to have on a home game day in the past. Seems they have lately not been doing that though. Maybe because of traffic

Cityfest blows though. Maybe the pc name change that offended some symbolized the carnival going downhill . I didn't even go this year and I was even in Chardon close to Mentor.

You arent missing much now

I already said I'm not following your psychobabble. All I have ever said in this thread is I thought Ignatius has a good team based on what I saw last week and I'm expecting them to do well this week based on what I saw. That's my logic.

I gave you a clear example of how your transitive property doesn't work in football. Mentor lost to eds. Medina beat eds. By your logic medina beats mentor. Mentor beat them twice ....

Can't help that you are too stupid to realize your logic makes zero sense. Now move along little one

Have you been drinking?? Notice how you don't mention Ignatius when this is an Ignatius thread. And, previously you promised to use PM for your psychobabble nonsense. That's 2 violations hall monitor.

Have you been drinking??
Don't drink but thanks for again proving how dumb you are. Saying Mentor lost to pc and Springfield lost to x who beat pc..... So Springfield is better than mentor is stupid. It's the same type of example I showed to prove it wrong.

No I said you can pm me further dumbo. We were then talking about a fair and you came back in

I don't see Ignatius mentioned here either hall monitor. That's 3 strikes. You should be out now.

Safe travels tom . At least you won't have the packed to heck parking lot . Go to Wingstop or burrito loco in mentor on the lake if you want better food than the budget cityfest

Cleveland Plain Dealer now has SHS rated #2 behind X in the state rankings. How's that for R1 superiority! And Ignatius remains #6. They did not drop after last week which they shouldn't. I fully expect Ignatius will move up in next week's ratings.

Of course you don't care what your own newspaper says when it disproves your psychobabble. Again, just another friendly reminder, this is an Ignatius thread.
PD isn't my paper. And those guys don't know about the state as a whole or the local teams. Many on here know way more than them

If you are using media rankings to try to sway people , you already lost. Especially after 1 game. What a goof ?
