Roster

5 seniors, 11 juniors, 2 sophomores

The Cats did lose CJ Little (to Garfield Hts) and Jimmy Lawless (to Gilmour)

Even with those losses, there's a lot of depth, size and there's talent.
A strong junior class that has experience - Jackson, Buckner, Ellis, Springer, Martin and the addition of Reece Robinson

Who is Reece Robinson?
From cleveland.com:

Junior guard Ace Buckner’s leadership has set the tone after joining the program as a sophomore. He is one of two coaches’ sons on the roster, with his father being Cavaliers assistant Greg Buckner and Reece Robinson being the son of new Cleveland State coach Daniyal Robinson.

Thank you!

Man the size on this team is unreal vs our past rosters.

Cats open the season with a 73-42 win over Euclid. Cats played pretty good defense. Question: is there now a running clock in high school basketball once a certain point lead is achieved?

Yes. Once the differential hit 35, they went to a running clock.

I attended the game--it was my first in probably 17 years. Cats obviously have a lot of talent and A LOT of depth. The first half was very sloppy for both teams. Each plays an up tempo style and committed a lot of turnovers. In the second half, the Cats played as if they had 10 games under their belt and completely dominated the Panthers. Carter Jackson did not play. Also, none of the varsity soccer or football players saw action. The 6-9 sophomore Damon Friery was very impressive. The JV won 72-14.

Cats are building a St. V North. Yappi poll has you 4th, but I'm thinking that is Low. Same poll has St. Edward 7th, which I think will prove to be High. Hope I'm wrong on both :)

SEHS95 -- You are correct. HEAVILY "recruited" and transfers from AAU circuit.....a la SVSM. Freshman and sophomore players immediately vaulted to varsity as that is part for the deal. Igantius used to frown on transfers, especially after sophomore year. Team is loaded with talent - but at what price ?

^I only see two transfers on the roster and neither of them go against the long-standing school policy. The Ignatius policy is to not accept transfers after sophomore year unless they are moving in from out of state. One kid transferred to Ignatius at the beginning of sophomore year. The other is a junior and he is an out of state transfer.

I am by no means an Ignatius insider, but from what I have heard from some friends who know some of your coaching staff, the staff has always been VERY high on the now junior class. I'm not sure the Wildcats are ready to knock off either Pick Central or Centerville (and I'm not sure my Irish are either!), but a deep playoff run this year and perhaps a state title next year are certainly within the reach of your program and that class. Good luck to the Wildcats throughout the season.
