St. Edward Football 2025

Broden Moore picked up his first offer from Sacramento state! So if my count is correct
That’s 3 defensive backs, all with D-1 offers
And 3 offensive players with D-1 offers.
I expect at least 2 more players one on each side of the ball to get offers as well before the season. 8 total. But after the season at least 2 more of the team will get them. So at least 10 D-1 kids on the years team! Book it! Too bad Joey Saffold left that would have made 11 starters on this years team with D-1 offers.
Hopefully our guys got something to prove. It’s going to come down to play in the trenches. Looking forward to next season.

Agreed, the O and D lines have been the hallmarks of just about every St. Edward championship team. The foundation is there with Marquard and Wilhelm on offense and Crocker and Taylor on defense. I'm cautiously optimistic about some of the new faces coming up from the JV team to fill in gaps. The biggest question mark for me would be the LB unit. I presume Peterson will move to the middle to take over for Gregory, but those are some big shoes to fill.

The D-line is going to be incredible! The DBs will be fast and long. Linebackers will be fine but definitely the weakest of the three units.
Offensively the line only has 2.5 returning starters .( one kid was a part time starter) But the jv line was strong. So line will be very solid.
RB WILL BE LOADED . Probably the strength of the offense! Ed’s will have a nice tightend this year!
Lastly WR will be solid. Hackleman returning is great. But the loss of Saffold will be felt. Need at least two kids to step up at WR. Losing both Hughes and Saffold in back2back years creates a void. But someone will step up. Knox Mykosky
Are the two seniors that stick out in my mind. But I’m hearing there is other seniors in the mix plus a few juniors. So let the battle begin.
QB is interesting, Evanchick is my odds on choice to start. But there is three other qbs this year waiting for an opportunity.
But Evanchick athleticism and knowledge of the offense. Should be the starter for training camp. Then the battle begins. But still siding with the athletic senior. Who moves so well in the pocket. He throws exceptionally well on the run.
But very deep at qb this year and next

The D-Line will be strength of defense.
They have 5/6 biggest strongest dudes. It will be fun to see that D-line go against Ed’s offensive line at practice. The offensive line will be improved from last year. As a unit.

Linebacker Peterson taking over for Gregory! Will be fun to watch. Kids a beast
Loves contact. Keep eye on
Joe Moore 6’3 230lb fast long. He will find a spot LB or TE somewhere! Bray Thomas iowa state commit at safety , should be fun to watch. Brodin Moore will try to replace Buchanan as the hitter on the defense. As the nickle. Fast , loves contact and athletic. 10.9 hundred kid.
Team is loaded with depth they didn’t have last year. Saffold leaving will be a big loss at WR. BW healthy will be something to enjoy.
Will it go back to an all running team?
That’s lombos go to? Or will they mix it up?
The defense will keep all games low scoring. Will Ed’s go back to 21/10 wins?
Ground and pound! Or mix it up run pass?
Two exceptional classes junior/senior
That blend well together/ meaning the short comings of the senior class is the strength of the junior class and vice versa!

Any news on transfers? Heard of a couple potential ones.

You clearly just posted the new. What are you really asking or what point are you trying to make?
Okay, I know you are affiliated with Glenville but, do I need to define the word potential for you? The question is valid with the use of the word “potential” as I don’t know if it ever happened.

All this talk about a junior to be QB transfer from Strongsville, as if it’s going to make an impact to the rotation.

Ed’s has been grooming their current QB for two years and I bet he will be the 2 year starter. It’s just noise from the outsiders.

Looking forward to the emojis from my fans.

Thank you for the update. I have been a fan of Lombardo's approach over the years. Late November in Ohio, teams need to be able to run the ball when the weather is not ideal to throw primarily to advance the ball on O. Doing so requires a solid O line and a QB that possess the ability to run the read option well.

The Eagles have been solid on D for years now. IMO, in high school football, D's need to be strong up the middle or DT, ILB, and SS. High school QB's, especially a one year varsity starter, do not always process information well at the line of scrimmage. Placing pressure as a D 'up the middle' can disrupt what a high school offense is trying to create.

Go Eagles!

Congratulations to Diondre Taylor with his first D-1 offer. From Kent State! Kids a beast and the strength of the defense is the pensive line this year. So that makes 4 players from the defensive side of ball with D-1 offers! I still expect 1 as many as 3 more kids to get offers at latest throughout the season. Contenders Jack Marquette/ Collin Crocker / palauzzi
Plus some wild cards

Excellent. His recruiting was probably hampered by a degree due to only playing in 5 games last year. He was really impactful in those games and I'm excited to see what he can do in the course of a full season. He's undersized at the DT position in terms of the typical D1 profile, but he's got a great first step with good athleticism and strength. Reminds me a bit of Wayne's Robert Landers from back in the day. Not putting him in that echelon of player per se (Landers was one of the best players I've seen compete against Ed's), but the physical attributes are similar.

Also, Kent State OC Mark Carney ('98) is in charge of the program for the time being as HC Kenni Burns was recently put on administrative leave. The Flashes have extended offers to all of the aforementioned Eagle players.

This Eds team looks daunting, I think they are a pretty clear favorite for the 2025 season, definitely in my eyes. Getting to use Brandon and Zach on offense is going to be so fun to watch.

Do you guys have dates for the schedule yet? I wanted to come up and watch the Wayne game but probably only can if it’s that Saturday, if not I’d still love to come up to another!

I wouldn't go so far as to call them a clear favorite with the QB situation unsettled, but I expect them to be on the short list in D1 once again.

Wayne and Pickerington North have some excellent D1 playmakers. Their is a reason they both picked this year to play St. Ed's. It's not a coincidence or lack of other options. They want to test themselves early to see where they stand.

We saw how that worked for a supposedly loaded pic north team last yr. And that was our worst team in prob 5-6 yrs lol it wasn’t even competitive they looked awful week 1.

Liking the interesting little "pipeline" of Eagles getting looks from Coastal Carolina, starting with Gedeon. Not saying they'll commit, but cool to see they have offers from a different school with a lot of upside

That butt kickin was the best thing for them. They got it together and made the regional finals. Eds was healthy and fully ready week 1, it def showed.

PN played liberty tough and had them on the ropes. Surprised me seeing how Liberty ran through you guys (completely different team than week 1) and Moeller.
Should be a better showing this year

Missing Brandon White and Zach Hackelman had that effect. Will be a much different offense this year. Bring some popcorn!
