Eagles do battle tonight with #27 Mt. Carmel out of Illinois. Features matchup should be 113 Mendoza vs Brown. Mendoza beat Brown 13-5 at IM. I think he closes the gap this time. MC also has Sergio Lemley at 132 who is a top 3 guy at his weight, interested to see how Kade Brown does against him.

Saturday looks to be a quad with Joliet Catholic, Lake Highland Prep (FL) and host Marist. ( I am giving my "analysis" based off Ironman results for these 4 schools)

Joliet- Not sure if they're nationally ranked, (I feel like this was Rudy's high school btw) but they are led by MatScouts #1 Heavyweight Dillan Johnson. Other guys who look to be solid for them are Mims (120) & Alessio (157)

Lake Highland- Very solid team I know they're at IM every year. 120 Rivera and 138 Rivera are very tough wrestlers who wrestle lots of tight matches- As do Butler and Bennett, the most likely opponents.

150 Mojena- Saw he placed 6th at Ironman, lets hope Eaton has his conditioning up by now.

165 Boykin won a couple matches at IM. I think a really good test for smaller Miller

Marist- All that stood out to me was Resendez lost a 3-2 against Butler at IM and 138 Denny beat Bennett 2-0., lets hope he can get some payback.

I'm sure I missed some guys but overall I think Eds should win all duals with ease. Maybe @bucksman can chime in with some insight on a few potential good matchups? Go Eagles.

Thanks for the info Hokie 99. I see these matches are at Mt Carmel per their remaining schedule below.
Its Friday! My favorite day!

Mt Carmel has returning state champ Colin Kelly at 175? 165? Should be a very nice matchup for one of the Miller’s. Interested to see if Karson Brown has closed the gap since Ironman, he’s had some real nice results since then

Illinois uses the old NFHS weights: 106-113-120-126-132-138-145-152-160-170-182-195-220-285

St. Edward should lineup this way: Timar, Karson Brown, Butler, Sanderfer, Kade Brown, Bennett, O'Brien, Eaton, Peterson, Ty Miller, J.R. Miller, Slaper, Waugh, and Gregory

Mt. Carmel is tonight, Marist is either tonight or tomorrow; Joliet Catholic and Lake Highland Prep are tomorrow. Of those four duals, the only one where win/loss is in doubt is Lake Highland Prep.

Key Mt. Carmel wrestlers: 106 Lukas Tsirtsis (though this is a match Timar should win), 113 Seth Mendoza (this is a match Karson Brown should lose, might be shrunk margin, but Mendoza is the clearly superior wrestler), 120 Damian Resendez (like Butler a returning state runner-up, Butler won this tossup type match at Ironman), 126/132 Jairo Acuna (returning SQ, missed first month-plus of season due to family tragedy), 132/138 Sergio Lemley (one of the best wrestlers in the whole country), 152 Eddie Enright (went 2-2 at state), 170 Colin Kelly (returning state champ, national caliber kid), 195 Rylan Breen (returning state placer)

Key Marist wrestlers: 106 George Marinopolous (0-2 at state last year, Timar should/must beat him), 120 Michael Esteban (state 6th last year), 132 Donovan Allen (1-2 at state last year in IL 2A), 138 Will Denny (2-2 at state last year at 120, Ryan Bennett should beat him in at least controlled fashion), 145 Jesse Herrera (0-2 at state at 126), 160 Ricky Ericksen (1-2 at state last year at 145), 170 Jake Liberatore (state 5th last year), 182 Connor Phelan (1-2 at state last year), 195 Peter Marinopolous (best wrestler on team, state runner-up last year)

Key Lake Highland Prep kids:
106 Liam Davis (5th at National prep last year, I think he either placed real low at IM or was R12), 113/120 Ethan Rivera (he's a national caliber kid), 126 Danny Aranda (4th in IL 3A last year), 138 Eligh Rivera (National Prep champ/this would be a very good match for Bennett if it happens), 145 Ethan Mojena (3rd at National Preps, has been in-and-out of national rankings), 152 Torres (was close to placing at Ironman), 160/170 Josh Boykin (National Prep 7th), 170/182 Omer Barack (2x FL 1A state placer), 182/195 Daniel Williams
LHP was at the Powerade and finished behind St. Edward. I think both teams had a similar number of placers in the tournament.

Joliet Catholic is in the rankings based on some positive dual meet results (most notably the win over St. Charles East last month; they beat a short-handed Marist team last month, and they have split matches against Marmion (they got slaughtered when Marmion had everyone and barely won when Marmion was missing two starters)). Key kids: Gylon Sims (state champ JN FS AA) at 120/126, Mason Alessio (state runner-up) at 160, and Dillan Johnson (nationally elite kid) at 285. They have three other kids that lost go-to-state matches last year in IL 2A and four other freshmen that placed relatively high in the JH state tournament.

Tough dual with Lake Highland Saturday. Missing J. Miller hurt but overall some tough matchups for the Eagles.

Eagles end the regular season at home hosting SVSM, Desales, and Strongsville. I assume this is Columbus Desales? I so, there should be some pretty good matchups here. I believe they should be the #1 team in D2. I think we see see a very tigh race according to Boro's rankings. Looking forward to some awesome wrestling this weekend that includes OSU/Mich & Penn St/Iowa.

It is Cols. DeSales. 215 is going to have some great matches in this Quad

There was a time the CIT (a tournament St. Edward started) would not let the Green team enter. Looks like that has changed

84.5 pts. 8 in semis! 5 in consos. Sounds like Waugh had 2 tough matches at 215 losing to Teddy Gregory from Stow 5-4 then losing 1-0 in the consos. Brown had a nice SV over Jett from Brecksville.
Go Eagles!
