Not much to talk about yet but I figured I'd at least get the schedule up. The only thing that's certain is this season will be a work in progress for the Jackets. Half of last years 20-5 team graduated including two of the most productive players in SHS history in Andre Gordon and Ratez Roberts. Sidney only returns 1 starter in senior Darren Taborn (7.2 PPG - 3.7 REB). Not really sure who is still playing or not as of yet. The Jacket JV squad only lost a few games last season but that success doesn't necessarily translate to varsity.

Butler lost a ton too. Looks like Tipp returns a pretty good core.
Tipp should be the best team in the MVL. They have two kids with college offers, Nolan Mader and Ben Knostman along with 6’5 Zac Fredrick, Griffin Caldwell and some very talented freshman and sophomores. They return their entire starting 5 from last year.

Tipp will have a good regular season. I am unsure how deep they can go in the playoffs. Can they get out of sectionals?

Dre is off to a pretty solid start to his freshman year at A&M.

Played 19 minutes off the bench in the season opener last week and finished with 9 points, 3 rebounds and 2 assists.

Got his first start tonight in the second game, playing 29 minutes and netting 14 points on 6/10 shooting, 3 steals, 2 rebounds and 1 assist. A couple big three balls and had a late steal and dunk that put the Aggies up 6 with less than a minute to go.

Should be fine since they have a couple of kids with college “offers”.
Both Ben Knostman and Nolan Mader have been “offered” by schools that are not D3 and can offer athletic scholarships. Urbana and Cedarville can give out athletic scholarships bud.

Sidney is not gonna have much height at all, but they’ll be strong in the backcourt and Jones In the post, while undersized, is a very athleticwith good hops. Swiger is a load with a great feel around the basket should get a lot of playing time.
Darren Taborn is the biggest scoring threat as a guy who can penetrate and score.
Durr, Vordemark, and Devin Taborn are all athletic guards who are good ball handlers. They’re also gonna need Werntz to step up as a scorer and outside threat.
This team is gonna need to pressure and score off of turnovers and use their quickness to create for themselves.

I have no clue what this response has to do with what I said...

If Tipp has 2 players with “offers” than they should be just fine come tournament time. I understand it’s a tough sectional to get out of but how many teams boast 2 scholarship caliber players?

Don’t see too many high Major or even mid major recruits around the Dayton area these days. It’s not like used to be, even just 5 years ago.

18 out of the 22 games are league games.... I just do not like the new setup.

I don't either, honestly. It's kind of boring playing/seeing the same teams every year. The schedule will not change much at all for Sidney especially considering Bellefontaine and St. Marys will likely be 2/4 of the OOC matchups every year in the foreseeable future. The other 2 will likely be a rotation of GWOC/CBC/DPS teams.

Not sure what the fix is though. Maybe division crossover games only being played once, would increase the OOC games to 9.

I think there needs to be some changes as well. If you have a very talented team you can't be restricted this much and need more opportunities to play better opponents to better prepare for the postseason. How much do you get out of playing a poor team in the MVL twice? Is it in the MVL bylaws that you have to play conference teams twice during the regular season?

Doesnt prepare you for tournament. Kind of forces your coach to go scout more then normal. Thank god for hudle

My guess is it's an ease of scheduling issue. Don't have to work as hard to fill dates when 18 games are already scheduled every year.
