I was watching Oprah's interview with Whitney Houston, who is in the process of having her big comeback, after being out of the recording studio for almost 10 years, and it made me think of this article I read the other day. Read it and see if you agree with the author.

While The Who is on hiatus, Roger Daltrey is going solo for his "Use It or Lose It" tour starting October 10. "Use It or Lose It" refers to Daltrey's voice, or as bandmate Pete Townshend puts it, "his aging vocal chords." In an interview with Rolling Stone, Daltrey was even more blunt, "These are the last years of my life that I can sing that material," he confessed.

I love The Who. "Quadrophenia" saved my life. Literally saved my life. Daltrey's wail was one of the most gut-wrenching, soul busting sounds in rock.

Was.

I'm sad to say that Daltrey has already lost it. Give the guys props for sticking with it but he ain't the Daltrey of days past. He's old and that youthful wail has turned into a croak. It's painful to hear. It's painful for me to say it out loud. I love the man. I owe him and his bandmates for rescuing my childhood. Still, I can't hide behind the romanticism of my classic rock past.

The truth is this: singing over-the-top rock is a young man's game. At a certain point, a singer needs to either start making instrumentals or seriously reinvent his style. Sadly, most have trouble shifting gears and insist on singing like a twenty-year-old well into their 60s. Their ears somehow don't hear what the rest of ours hear. Those magic falsettos have crashed to earth.

As evidence, I submit two versions of "Love Reign O'er Me," the epic grand finale from "Quadrophenia." The first is from a 1982 Who concert. It's a tepid performance and Daltrey and Townshend are dressed like understudies for Culture Club. Still, by this point, Daltrey has been singing this song for almost 10 years and his voice is tight and focused.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/BwRp0MwLeB8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/BwRp0MwLeB8&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The second performance is from March of this year. No amount of reinventing the vocal melody and dropping the key can save him. It's like watching some drunken karaoke singer destroy your favorite song.

Listen to Pearl Jam's version if you want to remember how it's sung.

Two other singers come to mind immediately whose vocal chords are behind them: Elton John and Whitney Houston.

In 1971, Elton was 24 years old, in the closet and singing with the greatest falsetto around. "Tiny Dancer" showed all his power, revealed effortlessly while seated cooly behind a Steinway grand.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/u3ppoX4bVTQ&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/u3ppoX4bVTQ&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Flash-forward some 35 years later. All's going well until the signature chorus. The falsetto has been mowed down. At least he's still got his hair. Listen to Ben Folds' faithful cover to get your "Tiny Dancer" fix.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjHKtdLLhOc&hl=en&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/IjHKtdLLhOc&hl=en&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Ben Folds:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/wF4WeCGrILc&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/wF4WeCGrILc&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

Rolling Stone magazine deservedly named Whitney Houston one of the 100 greatest singers of all time. She set the standard for a generation of divas from Mariah to Beyonce. Her cover of Chaka Khan's "I'm Every Woman" revealed an untouchable soprano.

Whitney Houston:

<object width="445" height="364"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/daurx_aCFEI&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca&border=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/daurx_aCFEI&hl=en&fs=1&color1=0x402061&color2=0x9461ca&border=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="445" height="364"></embed></object>

After nine years in the wilderness with marital, drug, and other personal issues, Houston had her career revival coming out party earlier this month on TV's "Good Morning America." Her voice decided to stay home. In true entertainer fashion, she left the high notes for the audience to sing.

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/qzI4QgOzpaU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowScriptAccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/qzI4QgOzpaU&color1=0xb1b1b1&color2=0xcfcfcf&hl=en&feature=player_embedded&fs=1" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowfullscreen="true" allowScriptAccess="always" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

The list goes on and includes most Vegas acts but I've made my point. Now it's your turn. And no, you can't include Bob Dylan. Whether or not you you think he can sing, not much has changed. The man sings more consistently than almost anyone out there.

O-h-i-o!!!

Yesterday, we drove down to Columbus to take my oldest kid to college at Ohio State. We had to leave at 7:00 AM, since my next oldest kid had a band concert at Jackson last night, and we had to be back in town for that, so it was a REALLY early road trip, but we made it to OSU around 9:00 AM, and were able to stay down there with her until 3:00 PM.

The campus was super nice, and her dorm room is in Morill Tower, which is one of two towers that are closest to the football stadium. In fact, she can see the stadium and the river out of her room's window.

She will have 3 roommates, and one of them moved in yesterday (yesterday was early move in if you wanted to pay $30.00, which we did to avoid moving in today, which was the big move in for students. We thought it would be too hectic and crowded to move in today, and we were right, so that $30.00 was well spent!) Her roommate that we met yesterday seemed nice. She will also have 6 other girls who are her suite mates, as the rooms in Morill Tower are divided up into suites, and each suite has 4 separate bedrooms. The other suites only had 2 students each, which is how many Caite's room was SUPPOSED to have, but they had crowded 4 kids in it instead, so she has two bunk beds in her room rather than just two separate beds. Although, I'm sure what with all of them being at classes and other activities, the times when all four of them will be in the room at the same time are going to be few and far between.

We got to tour the campus and we also went into Columbus downtown to look around. We all liked the Short North section of town, as well as Victorian Village, and we ate lunch at a super cute restaurant called Mozart's, which was packed, but the food was excellent.

Caitlin seemed to be really excited to get down there and for us to leave, as all of her friends from high school kept texting her to meet up with them for some movie night thing that OSU had planned for the OWL's (Ohio State Welcoming something...), and since two of her high school friends are OWL's, they were attending the outdoor movie thing, and wanted her to go with them. Caite said they had about 1,500 students show up for the Movie Night, and then they all went to some Frat party that Caite's one roommate invited them to.

Today, Caite helped one of her other high school friends, Josh, get moved in to his dorm, and then she went to another party. So it seems that she's acclimating just fine to college life, and she said she loves it there. Of course, that's probably because classes and homework haven't started yet! Classes start this Wednesday, and she has classes every day, and is taking a full course load, but is already on sophomore level classes, since she finished all her freshman level classes during her senior year of high school at KSU through Advanced Placement, so she's kind of ahead of the game, which is good for her.

Anyways, I hope she has a great time down at OSU and does well, although I know from living with her all these past years that she'll do just fine. She's super smart and a very hard worker, and she'll be just fine. She's in Pre-Med, and wants to be an anesthesiologist, and so she'll be in Columbus for the next 8 years for her bachelor's and then medical school, so she'll be like 25 years old by the time she finally moves back up here, if at all. It's sad that I won't see much of her, but I'm happy for her, and I know she's going to accomplish great things!

We're going to try to make it down for a football game using my uncle's season tickets in the next few weeks. If that doesn't work out, we won't see her until Thanksgiving, when she comes back home for the weekend.

GO BUCKS!

Bad Romance

Above is the newest video from Lady Gaga for her single, "Bad Romance". I loved it the first time I watched it- the outfits she wears are just amazing as usual (watch for the polar bear coat she wears towards the end of the video when she's walking towards the guy wearing all black in the all white room- I WANT ONE OF THOSE COATS!!!!), and I absolutely love the song, and the choreography and everything about it. Seriously, it's like this chick can do no wrong when it comes to churning out hits. I really think she's going to be another Madonna, and will still be making cool music 20 some years from now.

Anyway- check it out- if you've enjoyed her previous music so far, you'll love this song. I downloaded it onto my iTouch right after hearing just the one time, and I normally don't do that, because I'm kind of picky about what I put on my iPod- I'm a music snob. What of it? :D

So I FINALLY got a new cell phone. After going without one for a while after I stopped working for my parents' business (my cell was through their company, so my ever-so-thoughtful...insert huge level of sarcasm here.....brother-in-law told my mother that he didn't think they should have to keep me on their cell plan anymore in order to "cut down on overhead costs. My cell was a whopping $15.00 per month since they already had so many cells on their company plan with Altell, but apparently, they really needed to conserve that extra $15.00 pretty badly), I had been without a cell since it had been a while since I had to go out and get one, and it's so confusing to decide what you need and which phone can deliver what you need the best.

Anyway, I didn't really have to worry about researching them too much, as my baby bought a new one for me! Since he and I talk throughout the day on Facebook while he's at his office and I'm at my home business office, he had been looking into the new Motorola Cliq, which is the first Android cell to use Motoblur, which basically ties in your cell phone with all the major social networking sites, such as Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, Google, and IM sites. So basically, you can type in a message or status update on your Cliq and it shows up on Facebook, Twitter, or whichever site(s) you select it to show up on. It's really cool and I absolutely love how easy it makes everything.

So now, if he sends me a message through Facebook and I'm out and about and not at my home computer, the message will instead pop up on the home page of my cell, and I can reply back to him right on my home page in the little conversation bubble for Facebook. Or, if I want to change my status on FB, I just type it in from my cell and it shows up on the site automatically. It also has a sliding qwerty keyboard, which is a major bonus- and was a deal breaker- for me. It has a touch screen keyboard that you can use when the unit is closed, and I like using that one just fine, but I wanted a qwerty actual one for longer text messages just because I like using one for major typing. That was one of the main reasons I chose not to buy the MyTouch, even though that had been my top pick for a cell for a while before we looked at the Cliq.

This thing also has a ZILLION available apps you can add for free and then even more that you can purchase for a small fee through your T-Mobile account. I already have so many apps on this thing that I doubt I'll ever use them all, but they're fun anyways. Jack absolutely loves Bubble, and I can keep him distracted with it while I'm shopping for literally hours! Bonus! He also likes a lot of the cute soundboards and things like Strobe and a lot of the games on there. Although, it's almost becoming a toy for him more than a phone for me, which probably isn't a good thing, since it would be really expensive to replace if he were to break it. Thanks goodness my baby is paying for insurance for my phone every month, I guess! (He thought it would be the smart thing to do since I have a electronically-curious toddler. I think he was right. ;)

So if you're currently in the market for a really cool phone with loads of useful apps and tons of great features, check this one out. It's the newest phone out by T-Mobile, and it has so many more features than the MyTouch does, and out of all of the Andriod phones out right now, I would say that it ranks in the top 5 at least. And I'm sure that all the other mobile companies are going to be soon to follow with the Motoblur concept, as it really cuts down on the time you have to spend online if you use any social networking sites- and really, who doesn't these days? I mean, my 68 year old MOM is even on Facebook! I'm just waiting to hear that my 93 year old grandmother got herself a Twitter account, and is tweeting about her gardening or other things that 93 year olds are into.

In Rememberence of Stefanie Spielman

In light of the passing of a very brave and kind woman, Stefanie Belcher Spielman, I'd like you all to watch this very inspirational speech given by Stefanie at The James Hospital for Cancer in Columbus. The work she and Chris did for cancer awareness and research was nothing short of amazing, and as a cancer patient myself, I am grateful for people like Stefanie, and all the tireless work she accomplished during her all too brief time here on earth.

When I was first diagnosed in August of 2008, I was doing some reading about The James Hospital, and sent Stefanie an email, not thinking she would remember me from high school. To my surprise, she did, and wrote me back, and we shared a few emails back and forth, with her giving me great advice as well as kind thoughts and inspiration as I began my battle with parotid gland cancer.

My husband had just left me and our infant son, and I was feeling very scared and very alone, and depressed about my life and my entire situation. It meant so much to me that she would take the time to personally reply back- not just once, but several times- being as I know how busy of a person she was. But that's the type of woman she was- selfless and kind and concerned for others, and doing what she could to help. And during those first very scary weeks of dealing with finding out that I had cancer, it meant the world to me to have someone who knew exactly how I felt tell me that it was all going to be all right.

I knew Stefanie in high school, and we were friends after getting to know each other through the Brookside Country Club Christmas Belles Cotillion Dance, where we were both presented as debutantes. And although Stefanie was strikingly beautiful on the outside, she was even more beautiful of a person on the inside. And because Stefanie was also a Christian, I know she is home with her Lord and Savior now, and is no longer in pain, and her suffering has ended.

My most sincere thoughts and prayers go out to the Belcher and Spielman families, especially her very loyal and loving husband, Chris- who supported Stefanie endlessly and gave up everything important to his own life to help her and be there for their children. He is a true champion in every sense of the word. I also pray for their three children. I know how horrible losing a parent is, and I hope and pray that God grants them peace through these next few very difficult days and forever.

God Bless and keep you, Stefanie. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.

People are unreasonable, illogical, and self centered.
Love them anyway.
If you do good, people will accuse you of selfish, ulterior motives.
Do good anyway.
If you are successful, you win false friends and true enemies.
Succeed anyway.
The good you do today will be forgotten tomorrow.
Do good anyway.
Honesty and frankness make you vulnerable.
Be honest and frank anyway.
What you spent years building may be destroyed overnight.
Build anyway.
People really need help but may attack you if you help them.
Help people anyway.
Give the world the best you have and you'll get kicked in the teeth.
Give the world the best you've got anyway.

One Year Without My Dad

Today is the one year anniversary of the day my Dad passed away. It doesn't seem that it's been that long most of the time, but at other times, it seems as though it's been forever since I've seen him, got to talk with him, hug him, and hold him. I miss him so incredibly much, and I can't begin to explain how different life is without him. Our family has changed so much without him in the picture. I guess we all never realized exactly how much he did for our family until he wasn't here to do things anymore.

I wish so much that we had him back with us. Things would be so much easier and better for our entire family if he hadn't died. But I know that he's in God's hands now, and that he's no longer in pain, and that he's there in Heaven waiting for all of us, and that we'll see him again someday.

We all went to Oakwood Cemetery today were he is buried to take some flowers to his grave site. Usually, I like going to cemeteries, and I'm always the one in our family who does the flowers for the family graves for Memorial Day and Christmas and such. However, my Dad's grave is one that bothers me to see, and I really haven't been there much since he passed away. Only a few times with my mother, in fact. It just hurts to much to know that he's there in the ground instead of here with us, I guess.

I love and miss you so much, Daddy, and I can't wait to see you again.

Jen, Dad, me and Mom back in the 80's. I don't know what I was thinking when I decided to get that bad 80's perm, and the huge glasses. Good Lord.

Dad at age 2, when he and his parents lived in the projects in Barberton before my grandfather started his tool & die business and started making enough money for them to move out to Green.

Dad teaching my son Logan how to ride his bike. My ex-husband moved away to Kentucky to run his parents' business shortly after our divorce, and my Dad was like a father to my kids, since their Dad wasn't around for them.

Me, Dad, and my sister, Jen, out in Los Angeles, California on vacation. We went out to Long Beach to see Howard Hughes' plane, The Spruce Goose, as well as The Queen Mary, neither of which I enjoyed, since I'm scared of big boats and big planes.

All of us down at OSU tailgating before an Ohio State-Illinois game. My Dad's uncle Gordy (back row, third from the right with the hat and glasses) is a former OSU football captain who also played for the Massillon Tigers when Paul Brown was coaching, and he has lifetime season tickets (10 per game) to OSU games, so we all went down together (me, my parents and sister, my grandparents,, etc) for the weekend. It was a lot of fun, and we used to go down to Columbus pretty frequently to meet up with Uncle Gordy (who my Dad is named after) and his family for games.

Mom and Dad at my sister's wedding reception. It was a month after their 40th wedding anniversary, but they didn't want a party, since we had Jen's wedding coming up, so instead, we had a slide show and a dance for them at Jen's reception. Mom was obviously feeling pretty victorious that they made it to 40 years together...lol

Back when I was a child, before life removed all the innocence...
My father would lift me up and dance with my mother and me and then
Spin me around ‘til I fell asleep.
Then up the stairs he would carry me-
And I knew for sure I was loved.

If I could get another chance, another walk, another dance with him
I’d play a song that would never, ever end
How I’d love, love, love...
To dance with my father again.

When I and my mother would disagree
To get my way, I would run from her to him.
He’d make me laugh just to comfort me
Then finally make me do just what my mama said.
Later that night when I was asleep
He left a dollar under my sheet.
Never dreamed that he would be gone from me...

If I could steal one final glance, one final step, one final dance with him,
I’d play a song that would never, ever end.
‘Cause I’d love, love, love
To dance with my father again.

Sometimes I’d listen outside her door,
And I’d hear how mama would cry for him.
I prayed for her even more than me-
I prayed for her even more than me.

I know I’m praying for much too much,
But could you send back the only man she loved?
I know you don’t do it usually
But dear Lord she’s dying...
To dance with my father again.

Every night I fall asleep and this is all I ever dream...

We Are The Champions.

Courtesy of the Canton Repository:

COLUMBUS —

State championships aren’t easy, and they shouldn’t appear to be, either. Truth be known, the Jackson High School boys basketball team had a tougher time getting through its sectional-district tournament and regional tournament than winning the state tournament.

Mike Fuline reminded his players of this a couple of times this weekend. There wasn’t anything the Polar Bears ought to fear at the state tournament.

Scared?

That was being down 12 points at halftime to Lake in a sectional tournament game, he told them.

Scared?

That was beating North Canton Hoover, for a third time this season, for a district title.

Scared?

That was coming out a little flat against Akron East in the regional semifinal game and surviving two missed layups at the buzzer.

The voyage home for the Polar Bears started Sunday morning and bled into Sunday afternoon. By the time the team caravan turned onto Fulton Drive, sirens from the police escort, fire engine and ambulance — yes, ambulance — echoed off the walls at Jackson High School.

Between 200 and 300 fans scurried into place and lined the sidewalk outside the doors that led the Bears back to their locker room.

A rainy Sunday lightened. The skies took mercy, and just a small spit of rain fell. Everyone needs their moment, and Mother Nature acquiesced.

Finally, Jackson senior Brad DuPont was among the first of the players to appear from the road. With traffic stopped, DuPont hung out of a van window and raised the gold state championship trophy high into the air as the vans rolled into the school’s parking lot.

Horns blared. Sirens wailed. Fans, some in shorts and some wrapped in blankets, screamed and yelled.

This is what a state championship sounds like. Jackson’s boys basketball players earned their hero’s welcome home.

Josh Egner, at 6-foot-6 and the talk of the state tournament for his daring dunks, didn’t need a podium. He and the rest of the players were standing tall already. Still, Egner climbed on top of a van hood parked in front of adoring fans and spoke.

“We want to thank everybody for coming out and supporting us all year,” said Egner, whose mohawk haircut made him a fan favorite in Columbus. “This isn’t possible without this community.”

The coaching staff, sleep deprived but still working on adrenaline, hugged and shook fans’ hands. Their journey home was filled with laughs and stories, as well as memories that will last this team a lifetime.

At 34 years old, Fuline might have another 30 years of coaching. He has reached the pinnacle of a high school coaching career, a place most men never touch. And he knows full well he could spend the next 30 years chasing Value City Arena and another state title. The hours are exhausting. The frustrations endless. The payoff is priceless.

Pure joy and sense of accomplishment in one weekend made it all feel worthwhile.

“Riding down the street with the escort and seeing all those people out here to welcome us back, what we did finally started to sink in for the first time,” Fuline said.

Before Jackson stormed the court Saturday night and overwhelmed Moeller, 57-34, Fuline left his team with a thought.

“In about two hours, you’re going to be state champions,” Fuline told them in a tone that wasn’t as much bold prediction as it was soothing comfort. “It will be the first one in school history. No matter what, our legacy is there. Seriously, mohawk and all, they may put freaking statues of us out there.”

The players laughed.

Then they joined hands one last time and prayed the Lord’s prayer. ... For thine is the kingdom and the power and the glory forever and ever, Amen.

When the final syllables of forever and ever hang in a heavy locker room air, there is a dynamic feeling in the air. It’s an aura that can’t be bottled. It’s either there, or it’s not.

Jackson has felt it all season, and never as strong as this past weekend. The Bears were in their zone.

Halftime, though, was precarious. It was clear Jackson was the better team, but it led just 20-15. Fuline implored his team to play defense like never before and they’d win a state title.

“Play defense and we’ll run them off the floor,” he said at halftime.

They did.

Then they drove home sharing memories and laughing all the way up 71 and across 30. Exhilaration let loose on Fulton.

Players and coaches made their way back inside the locker room. Some of them left quickly; a couple stayed around. There was one last game of shower soccer. Coaches signed the bottom of the state trophy, a new ritual that began this season.

Fuline was the last out of his office. He shut off the light and made sure the door was locked.

“This really happened,” he said.

There was one final hug. Dan Fuline, Mike’s father, gave his son one of those Italian bear hugs. Mike cracked a joke. Dan, who has watched his son come through the ranks, had tears in his eyes.

A steady ran fell outside. Nothing will wash away these memories.

ONS!!!

Long time....no blog.

Well, hello there.

I realize that it's been a loooong time since I posted anything on my blog. Well, actually, since I've posted anywhere on Yappi, for that matter. I guess I kind of got tired, and just needed a break. Well, that, and I've been on Facebook and Twitter a lot.

In any case, I've decided to start blogging on here again. Mainly because I like it, but also because I received several messages asking what happened to my blog, and when/if I was going to start it up again. Ask....and ye shall receive! :)

Writing, Spelling, and Punctuation FAIL. You're doing it wrong. Stop it.

Niche Blogs: The English Language.

Cute blog about people who butcher the English language in different ways and forms. Since that particular topic is a major pet peeve of mine- and I'm sure several of you feel the same, I thought you might enjoy the following link:

T to the W, to the E-E-T! It's K to the A, to the N-Y-E!

So Kanye West is on Twitter now. Yep.

Twitter was made for Kanye West. And Kanye West’s real Twitter could just be better than (super famous and amazing clothing designer.....since most men probably don't know who the heck Karl Lagerfeld is) Karl Lagerfeld’s fake one.

Kanye joined Twitter the other day in advance of the upcoming release of his new still untitled album in September. And while I think Kanye is a complete tool, and I'm still upset with him over the Taylor Swift debacle, I am a tiny bit of a Kanye apologist. Probably because even though he's a tool, I really love Kanye’s music. He went away to work on his music and the new sh-t, they say, is supposed to be great. Can’t wait.

We will likely disagree about Kanye. Many of you might still be mad at him for what he did. I kind of am. But we can all get together and appreciate Kanye’s tweets. Because they are full of golden amazingness that bring the joy over and over and over again.

“I jog in Lanvin” was the first beauty.

Then he started complaining about the smallness of his jet. Which preceded this:

“Man when you take BABYMAMAJETS there's no stuartist.”

Please. Really, Kanye?

I can’t get enough of it.

Personal favorite? He posted a photo of a couch and asked this:

“Is the Versace sofa too hood? Might need to cover it in plastic!!!”

There’s a little Chinese in Kanye, non? That, or elderly Jewish lady.

About an hour ago:

“Dating models I had to learn to like small dogs and cigarettes.”

Poetry. That's what it is. Pure, amazingly ignorant poetry. Thanks, Kanye.

How Not to Get Girls To Date You

This advice about how to text a woman in order to get her to fall for you is pretty hilarious. For example, one of the advised "cool texts" involves the phrase, "hey crackerpants!" You can imagine, perhaps, how well that went over when the blogger in question actually tried it on a real person.

We've Reached The End. Graduation!

So, a couple weeks ago, my second oldest child, Jordan, graduated from Jackson High School. Yippee! Two kids down....two more to go!

Seriously, it was a super nice ceremony. They held it at Faith Family Church in North Canton (which is this huge church located in the building that used to house the Hoover Company before they closed down) since the Canton Civic Center was going to be having roof repairs done, and they couldn't hold it there, as they usually do.

Jordan's Dad (my ex-husband....well, one of them. I have two now. :D ) drove up with his parents and my 14 year old son, Logan, from Kentucky to be here, and a bunch of people from my side of the family came as well. My best friend Terry was my date. He's gay, but he fills in as my date for things when I ask him to. Plus, he was already invited by Jordan, as she and Terry text all the time, and talk on the phone quite often...I think she's trying to steal him from me. :p

Jordan is heading to Kent State University (Main Campus) in the fall to major in secondary education.

Congratulations, baby! I'm SO very proud to be your Mom, and I wish you the absolute best when you head off to KSU! I know you'll do great!

So not that nay of you care, but I meant to post a few pics of my beautiful daughter, Jordan, before she went to her senior prom at Jackson. Sorry, but I'm a proud Mom. :D
