The Buckeyes (11-4,5-4 Big) blow an eleven-point lead to lose to Purdue tonight at home. Hitting a very cold 37.7% was a big reason why. Purdue hit 48.1% of their shots. Leading Purdue (11-5,5-40 was Trevion Wiliams (Chicago, IL) with 16 points and 7 boards. Sasha Stefanovic (Crown Point, IN) and Jaden Ivey (South Bend, IN) each had 15 points, with Ivey coming off of the bench to get his. For the ice-cold shooting Buckeyes, Duane Washington JR. (Grand Rapids, MI) had 21 points and 6 assists.

Some bad officiating by the zebras the last minute of the game, however Purdue like the 1st meeting beat up OSU on the inside. Be nice if Holtmann would recruit a post player, most BIG teams have 2, OSU has none. Won't have one next year either.

Holtmann needs to find a 7'0+ guy like Purdue seems to have every year.

As I noted in the season thread, jacking up 35 threes is not a formula for success in Big Ten league play.

Painter draws them like flies but mostly projects. The new kid has only been playing ball 3-4 years. 7'4" can do that. He's Canadian, wanted to be a hockey player.

Another second half meltdown by the Bucks.....just as they did against Illinois. This is an all to common theme with Holtman's teams. Starting to feel a lot like last season. Great start....then fall apart and end up .500

tOSU plays the basketball version of Tressel-ball. Get a little lead - take your foot off the gas. Pass up good shots to try to milk the shot clock and either put up a desperation shot or get a clock violation.
In football the opposition normally needs several plays to score just once.
In basketball a hot hand for the opposition and your old cold hand in the last minute can result in a loss.
Last night won't be the last time that happens.

If you have any complaints about the Illinois win you have zero credibility. Anyone who knows anything about basketball knows what a great win that was, and knows there will be some mistakes every game.

Hi. They were 21-10 last year, 11-9 in the best conference in the league. Headed to the NCAA tourney. What team are you actually talking about?

Too many uninformed clowns think OSU basketball should just roll over everyone like football. Holtmann has the program in a very good place. And it will get better.

Wow. Another uninformed post. Duane Washington has never passed up a shot, good or bad. Same for a couple of the other guys. They are not "milking the clock" or 'taking their foot off the gas', Purdue really ratcheted up the defense, and we went cold.
