Perry Panther Football 2025

Coach Leno is putting the finishing touches on his staff, the players are lifting to a different style and making big strides. Heard Coach in an interview talking about forming his offense around the strength of who is returning, but added the Panthers will be running more RPO’s this year. I think it’s safe to say it will be a new offensive era at Perry. On defense he stated they’ll be in a 3-4 this year. IMO, they’ll be fine at the skill positions on offense, but the biggest question will be who will be the QB. Will it be the incoming talented sophomore to be off the undefeated freshman team or possibly a newcomer? I look for possibly a couple other changes visually, but time will tell about those.

Decent non conference schedule for a first year head Coach but I think Perry needs to let Central Catholic go. Central just isn't what they were years ago and way outmatched. Last year Perry wasn't very good and still smoked Central.

There is a tight relationship and economic element too. I agree Perry needs a better opponent but it would be hard to drop CCC unless CCC was cool with it.

CCC should win more games than SVSM.

They definitely might for sure but I think SVSM is a overall better program recently. I'm not saying by a bunch though SVSM has been down too

Possibly, but as far as computer points go, a win over SVSM this fall will, in all likelihood, be worse than taking a bye. The crazy thing about that is that I remember one of their fans being extremely cocky before their 2023 playoff game against Harding, who ended up winning 35-0. Their coach retired the next day and they haven’t been the same since.

Their current situation is similar to Iggy’s. They’re probably better than what they show on the scoreboard, but they’re stuck playing a schedule where it’s hard to breakthrough with wins. Iggy would actually be fine playing SVSM’s schedule, but their current slate is nothing short of grueling.

Hard to believe such long time private powers CCC and St. V are struggling like this. Esp. St. V. Hoban must be doing a real number on them. Live by the sword...

That's a shame SVSM use to be a decent program I mean not world beaters but respectable anyways.

Fairless has not just one but multiple powerful receivers??? We're talking Fairless Ohio right? Just checking. ;)
With Perry having to learn a whole new offensive system I think they will be somewhere around 5-5 maybe 6-4 if they are lucky. New coaches need time to get things going and it's not like Perry had a bunch of superior athletes last year that are returning.

Good points, but remember the Perry freshman team was undefeated . If they have a bunch of sophomores who are varsity ready that should make the transition easier. Luckily for them there are a lot of Federal League teams who are replacing most of their starters. It's a rebuilding year across the board with the exception of GlenOak (who was never really built to begin with in 2024).

I think Perry has a shot at 7 wins and a top 2 finish in the league. It might be a long shot, but the league is wide open. With improved coaching and a great class coming up I wouldn't bet against them.

True you never know but I wouldn't hang my hat on a bunch of sophomores on the varsity. Even if a bunch are on varsity that's a big jump from freshman ball. The rebuilding year you said the league is going through this year might help them with a better record but still I think 6-4 would be great for them. Losses to Warren ,Lake ,Mck ,and Jackson and possibly Green.

I expect Hoover and Green will be tougher than Jackson and Lake. Blue Streaks lose Christopher, most defensive guys and all of their linemen while Jackson loses almost everyone in defense plus their two leading RBs and WRs.

I think we'll see Hoover Perry and Green with 6-7 wins with Jackson and Lake at 5.

I didn't know how much Jackson lost wasn't sure if they have the QB back. I just know they were good last year. Usually Mck,Lake, and Green seem to be the best teams in the league year in and year out with Perry occasionally in that group.

Jackson does bring Ecrement back at QB but he won't have the weapons he's had the last couple years. What put Jackson over the top last year was the defense. Warmath, Saleh and Braucher were monsters on that side of the ball. I'm sure they'll still score some points as a result of Ecrement's talent but if they aren't holding teams under 20 a game it'll be a harder road for the Bears.

Lake's got a good RB in Davis Matson, and Ty DeGeorge is a very good runner himself, but the big question is who's going to open up the holes for them? The Streaks have had a six-year run going back to 2019 of very good offensive lines, but I believe BlueStreakOffice posted in the PAC thread that the classes coming up don't have the same size and strength up front.

By this logic, St Edward is "decent"
Again....... I said I didn't know how many titles they had. So by not following them I only knew what I have seen vs My team. Massillon leads St Ed's by two game that's it, they lead SVSM by many more. Also when I say respectable program we are talking about perry playing them NOW so in fact they are a respectable opponent because they have had success over the years but recently they haven't been great in the last 10+ years. I mean come on what do you want me to say? It's not like putting a St Ed's or Moeller type team on the schedule but also it's not like playing a team as bad as Tuslaw or Fairless either hence why I said respectable to describe them .It sure wasn't a knock on SVSM but when I think of the best football programs ever in the state I don't think of SVSM. Even though successful in both sports, When I hear SVSM I think of basketball and LeBron.

Anyone Hear Any Names That Make Up The Coaching Staff Under Coach Leno.
Not 100% positive, but just what I’ve heard so far; Weber from Massillon, possibly another Massillon assistant, Adam Gregorie, Ben Shenk, Tim Anderson, Josh Nettleton & Matt Leisure. I’m sure I’m missing someone and possibly one more.

It sounds like Spencer is putting together a nice staff. Leisure is good ,except for that Bulldog on his leg.😁
Seriously. Leno's an outstanding coach that I wish was still here at Massillon. There's ABSOLUTELY no reason we should not be on each other's schedual soon. I think it could be a great rivalry. I would hate to lose to Perry more than mckinley.

Anyone Hear What Offense That Perry Is Going To Be Running This Year Under Coach Leno.

I think it’s safe to say the wing t as we knew it with Coach Wakefield & Coach Slates is over. Haven’t heard much of what he wants to run other than hearing Coach Leno during an interview talking about looking at his personnel and running what’s advantageous to his returning skill. He did mention running more RPO’s in the interview. He also mentioned running a 3-4 defense. I guess unless you know a player on the team and talk to them during some camp days this June that’s the only way you’ll know.

They were more than respectable winning 6 state championships and were always a state power in the old class AA and later D3. The last 15 to 20 years not a very good program.
They won back to back titles in 2012-2013. Their struggles have really only been for the last 7 years.
