Out of state games

Many teams on the borders of the state play out of state games. The large catholic schools like Iggy, St X and Ed’s all play out of state teams. Is it likely that these games will have to be cancelled due to state restrictions? If so, what options will these schools have?

Hope that they can fill the spot...if not it goes down as a bye week. That's if the season happens

Play somebody else.
 
Don Bosco Prep has already backed out from playing Hoban. Same for all Canadian schools. The chances of 7 or 8 game schedules is a very good possibility. Waiting for harbin crunchers to do the math for these scenarios

The OHSAA has a rule (or has had in the past) that teams must play 8 games to be playoff eligible.

The implication on the Canadian school(s) depend on if the Canadian schools actually win or lose the games they play outside of the one against your team. Having a "bye" can be better than beating a lousy team; I have not done the study to determine at what point that no longer is the case in terms of # of opponent wins (recall that in D5 last year Lutheran East back-doored their way to a playoff spot by cancelling a late season game, which created a no contest instead of a "negative win").
 
I would say the only chances of this happening is a scenario where Ed’s and Ignatius / Hoban play each other twice and that’s without looking at schedules and the possibility of the same weeks working out. No teams will come to an agreement based on everything at stake. Public schools have to be so excited for these scenarios to play out.
 
I can't see them truly telling border schools they can't play IN, MI, KY, PA, or WV schools. Hell, there's SE Ohio leagues where WV and OH are in the same league. Tell a Cincinnati school they have to drop a KY or IN team 20 minutes away to play a Cleveland school. That's ridiculous.

I'd agree the non border states and Canada are a stretch, but I'd really hope teams can use their brain here.
 
Ignatius has four games with teams from out-of-state. Three of the four are at Byers: 2 Maryland teams and Canada. One is away in Michigan. Maybe the Michigan game can be played. I wouldn't count on the others.
 
Each State having their own guidelines makes Across Boarder games difficult. Opens the door to a lot of lawsuits if things go bad
 
I don't think ohsaa will interfere with teams playing neighboring out of state football games this year.

Face it folks there will be a season and the virus isn't going away so deal with both.

Next week's practice schedule changes big time and 7 on 7's are being scheduled for July. It's going to happen.
 
Yes...the same type of suits that people file all the time. There's often not much merit to them but at times they due lead to delays/temporary orders.

Kinda like the ones suing the State to open things back up

Who are you guys scheduling against? Only allowed Intra Squad last i heard. Things are ever changing though
 
Well let’s start with the easiest solution, start building a data base by week of teams that have out of state games. Then have schools contact each other in case it’s needed. Here is the start:

Let them play the out of state games. Is this really true, or just a Yappi topic thread. I haven't heard anything about these games being cancelled ????

I'm talking about games in WV, PA, KY, and IN.
 
Games are being cancelled, little by little. There has been no blanket cancellation, just either schools not wanting to travel, or not having teams this year.

I just listed all the games that involve out of state teams.
 
Wheeling WV Park had scheduled a Hawaii team for the first week, but the Hawaiians chose to not fly east and then Meadowbrook (Byesville, Oh.) and Park then hooked up for a game.
