Nice grass fields are always better than turf. Of course it’s impossible for a high school to play multiple sports on their field to keep nice

When it comes to field turf most of the studies I have seen are inconclusive if it does measurable damage to the knees or ankles over grass. What was originally thought to be an issue with these surfaces is the amount of staff infections that occur when the base material gets into an open wound. Studies found out this was not the case and most of the cases that were thought to be from the surface were actually from the locker rooms.

Much of what has come out in the last 4 years shows an unequivocal link between lower extremity injuries occurring more frequently on synthetic turf. The most important study during this time is linked below:

These results support the biomechanical mechanism hypothesized and add confidence to the conclusion that synthetic turf surfaces have a causal impact on lower extremity injury.

The caveat is this data comes from the most well-maintained football fields in the world. Take this down to a high school level and the maintenance on both synthetic turf and natural grass is severely lacking and is ultimately impacting player safety.
One of the arguments that you'll often hear is a poorly maintained natural grass field is less safe than a poorly maintained synthetic turf field. While there is no definitive data (yet), the anecdotal evidence suggests they both are very unsafe but in different ways.
Big picture, schools need to do a much better job of taking care of the fields they have, regardless of whether they are synthetic turf or natural grass. The safety of our players depends on it.

it does not even come close to what Canton is giving the OHSAA and the amount of people it actually takes to put on this event part of the 4000+ Hall of Fame crew who are all volunteers work this event.
The last time the field at the old Crew stadium was redone the Football goal pockets were removed the League prohibits regular football in any of its member Venues.
Since they haven't made a bid to host the finals yet it is impossible to truthfully say "it does not even come close to what Canton is giving the OHSAA."
And since the Crew no longer plays on this field it could be used for American football.
So other than being wrong on every point, good post.

We are talking Dollar amounts to the OHSAA as to the stadium it will will take thousands to put the pockets back not only that is also creates hazards for soccer players from the pockets
The OHSAA has made more money going back to Canton than in Columbus
The Columbus Crew is worth $540 million. They can probably afford the "thousands" it will require to repurpose their old stadium.
They are in the business of making money. If they figure they can make some money hosting high school football games good for them.
Besides, it's closer to my house than Canton.
They’re going to be hosting football games. That’s a fact. The question is just is it ever the state final, or just semis/regional finals.
There are existing MLS stadiums that host football games, a former one won’t be an issue

Kansas City hosts the D2 NCAA final. Dallas hosts the D1 NCAA Final. Houston hosts Texas Southern regular season games. DC hosted the DC Defenders of the XFL until covid happened. LA Galaxy hosted high school state title games for years until they started moving them around the state.
Not to mention, New England, NYCFC, Seattle, and Nashville all share fields with NFL teams (or a baseball field that hosts a college bowl game and also hosts a high school football game)
FC CINCINNATI hosts high school football games as well. It happens.

Well, since nothing formal has been presented, all you are doing is speculating.
You may be right, and you may be wrong....... The games moved to Columbus because of money before.... it can happen again.

Do they do 7 games in three days? Is there any facility in the state with natural turf that would allow that schedule to be played on its field? If so, then there had better be great weather or you'd better hope that you are not playing the 7th game.

Obviously if the state continues to have all 7 championship games at 1 site, they wouldn't be in the conversation to host that unless they install artificial turf.
That's a fact. Get artificial turf on the Crew field, then maybe discussions can be had. Until then, this yearly " The games should be at Crew" is just fruitless off-season fantasy, but as inevitable as the swallows at Capistrano and a lying politician during campaign season.

Historic Crew Stadium has had synthetic turf since last summer. This is the current situation there. They install an air lock bubble over the winter for their 1st team and academy teams to train. The bubble will come down this spring and go back up in December.
Could it be both?
If that's the case, let the negotiations begin.

The Crew no longer plays there, but their new reserve team, Columbus Crew 2, will be playing at Historic Crew Stadium. This is part of a new for 2022 development league called MSL Next Pro.
But anyway, as has been pointed out by others, football can still be played there regardless of whether or not soccer is also played there. Plus, this particular league should be done by the time the football state championships occur anyway.
You know a lot more about soccer than I do.
