Ohio State Recruiting

They got their 1st 2022 verbal yesterday too, Jyaire Brown, a CB from Louisiana. Spent the 1st 4 years of his life in Cincy before moving to Louisiana. Currently outside of the top 100 early 2022 list but has offers from all over including the big SEC schools Bama, LSU, and UGA. Kerry Coombs was cited as the main reason he is choosing tOSU. Many think we have entered the era of Assistant Coaches being the primary reason players are choosing a school and the trio of Johnson, Hartline, and Coombs are considered some of the best in the game at this point.

Those three have been killing it on the trail, and Alford redeemed himself with a great RB class.

Bummer. He's been flirting with Bama and UF for weeks now.

And the Big Ten cluster F, made his decision all that much easier. He will not be the last decommit for 2021 in addition to losing 4 and 5 stars that were heavily leaning towards Ohio State. The BIG just F'd themselves for a long while if the SEC and other conferences play.

okay

The woke institution are in for a shock. If the SEC pulls this off they will control football for a while. A point could be made they already do. Winners find a way to get it done. Losers find excuses.

Big developments for the class of 2022 happened yesterday. After a group of cryptic Tweets earlier this week from currently committed tOSU recruits Texas verbal and overall #1 nationally ranked QB Quinn Ewers decommits from the Longhorns and over night the crystal balls all swing to Ohio State: https://247sports.com/Player/Quinn-Ewers-45572600/

I would take this with a grain of salt at this time because nothing is a given in 2020 but if anything it shows that Day and the Buckeyes are continuing to build on their national brand that was started by Urban Meyer. My other caveat is I really don't trust how players are ranked coming out of Texas, too much emphasis is placed on HS brand name and gaudy stats produced in systems. When he was at camps in 2019 he did test well and the recruiting type guys say he has the tools but again it's 2020 and the sample size is limited so 2022 rankings are very fluid.

You will have a QB room of Miller, Stroud and McCord next year and add Ewers in 2022. All young top QB recruits and only one can start. One, maybe two, eventually transfer. Nice problem to have for Ryan Day.

When the NCAA finally approves the 1 time no sit out transfer rule recruiting will also drastically change and this might be the start of it. If you are one of the better players at a position why not start at the best of the best and if there is a potential ceiling due to a generational type player(s) in front of you then transfer to another blue blood that is in need to fill a hole. I could even see strategic relationships developing between programs in different conferences sharing intel and helping players find new homes in great situations for their talent level. Say BC might be coming up on a down year and they maybe have a borderline NFL player that wants to transfer that just so happens to play at a position of need at Ohio State due to injury; Jeff Hafley makes a call to Ryan Day and makes him aware of this player as a little thank you for nudging Jaelin Gill in his direction.

Signing day and no real surprises for tOSU. A slight one in that Tristan Leigh, a long shot at best for the Bucks, decided to not sign today and will wait until February. Gives them some hope.

On the flip side a rough day for UM, looks like they are going to lose a couple verbal commits. Also, the rich keep getting richer as 'Bama gets a **** DE, Keanu Koht, to flip to the Tide from LSU.
