1:00pm - FREESTYLE WRESTLING BEGINS: All Age Divisions

CLASSIFICATIONS: AGE AS OF JULY 27TH, 2019

Division 1: 6 years old or younger
Division 2: 7 or 8 years old
Division 3: 9 or 10 years old
Division 4: 11 or 12 years old
Division 5: 13 or 14 years old
Division 6: 15-18 years old
Division 7: Open (19 - 34 years old)
Division 8: Masters (35 years and older)

ENTRY FEE: $20.00 for each contestant per style if pre-registered.
$25.00 per style on site registration (Cash Only)
$50.00 for each contestant if pre-registered and wrestling all three styles. $65.00 for all three styles on site registration.

PRE-REGISTRATION: Pre-register online by midnight EST - Thursday, July 25th, 2019 at www.TrackWrestling.com

INSURANCE: USA Wrestling card is required. Cards can be purchased online at www.USAWMembership.com

USA CARDS AVAILABLE FOR PURCHASE (PROOF OF AGE REQUIRED — Birth Certificate, State ID)

AWARDS: Medals will be given to the top three wrestlers in each weight division as each age group is completed.

ADMISSION TICKETS: (Maximum of 2 tickets per athlete)
Admission ticket is required to enter the fairgrounds. During hotel weigh-ins wrestlers will be given one Ohio State Fair admission ticket for each day registered for. Wrestlers who weigh in using satellite weigh in sites can pick ticket up the day of participation outside Gate 7.

This used to be such a big tourney with kids from all over the US. The competition and the participants were top notch. Funny part was you could walk right off the mat and straight into a cow. ? :LOL:
This was the 'big' FS wrap up tourney of the Summer.
Not knocking what it is now, so no need to jump, just reminiscing. 'Glory Days.'
 
We used to go every year in the 90s it was a awesome tournament we’re else can you go wrestle and go eat a turkey leg would be nice to get more kids entered I had a lot of fun as a kid there every year. I do remember people walking out of the cow barns with crap on there boots across the mats not that way now.
Still quality kids there just no we’re neer as many my kid will be there
 
Well, the fact that it occurs at the same time as AAU Junior Olympic Games doesn't help. Some of those kids would likely wrestle in it, but they'll be in North Carolina.
 
Pre-registration is officially closed! Satellite weigh-ins went well last night. There are on-site registration and weigh-ins tonight from 7:00pm-8:30pm at the Crowne Plaza Columbus North - Worthington Hotel. 6500 Doubletree Avenue, Columbus, Ohio 43229. $65 for all 3 styles, $50 for 2 styles and $25 for 1 style for those that DID NOT pre-register.
 
Thank you to everyone for coming to the Ohio State Fair Tournament this weekend! The tournament ran well! Hope to see everyone next year!
 
My son has attended the tournament the past few years, and TBH, this year was not good. The afternoon session started way late because of the demonstration and interrupted kids in the middle of their warm-ups. The weight classes were a mess. Some had a 3 pound span, some had 12. A few of the weights had multiple classes overlapping that made no sense (even if you factor in skill level).

The closest pre-weigh in site is almost 90 minutes away. Spending money on a hotel, fair entry for the parents, etc. it is not worth it for 3 matches.

This wasn't our experience at all. We enjoyed the Russian Belt Wrestling demonstration and it was cool for the kids to meet an actual Olympic medalist. I really don't know how you can call that "interrupting a warm-up". The tournament was very well organized and officiated. The tournament itself has no control over what weight kids arrive at.
 
I agree improvements could be made but overall good competition and event. Also great to meet fellow members of community from here.

I agree that you can't control what kids weigh in at...but do these weights classes make any sense to you? 141-151, 148-153, 149-161 and 152-160???

Agreed, my son was in the 149-161, he weighed in at 152. By those actual weight classes he techinically could have been in 3 out of the 4 of them.

The only sense that I can make of it was that they were trying to balance the amount of wrestlers in each bracket. The competition level was pretty tough so i can understand how it would be frustrating for some to have to wrestle kids that potentially had 8-10lbs on them. I guess that's just the nature of the beast. I do agree that more thought could have been put into the actual weight classes, I just didn't find it to be that big of a deal.
