Northwest Ohio Realignment

Elmwood
It's a pretty compact footprint. The longest drive is 45 mins, most conferences would be thrilled with that.
After what looked like implosion not long ago, the BVC has done well molding itself. Getting rid of LB and Vanlue football. If they can find one more good fit they could be pretty stable. Outside of football odd or even really doesn't matter.
I can't see a reason Elmwood would want to drive further to be in a less stable conference with less stable schools.
Good point on stability....however lakota, gburg, woodmore, northwood, are geographically not a "further drive" for elmwood

True, but Margaretta and SMCC changes that.
Additionally, Danbury and Fremont St. Joe are also part of the SBC River. I believe Elmwood already plays Lakota, Woodmore, and Gibsonburg in non-league sports as well. Therefore, leaving a stable conference to join a less stable, leftover conference—especially for the sake of nostalgia and longer drives—doesn’t make sense for Elmwood.

What’s worse for Margaretta is they don’t sit on a major highway either.
Honestly if I’m Woodmore, Lakota, Margaretta, Gibsonburg, Northwood and Ottawa Hills I dump Danbury, SJCC and SMCC and not deal with it all. Should make it easier to find two additional schools.

Yeah... at this point, Danbury, SMCC, and SJCC are kinda like the River of the River...

I think there may be some community support at Elmwood for joining back up with some of those old SLL schools. I’m not sure if that changes anything, but it’s there.

Bloomdale to Castalia is an hour trip. This is the position that Margaretta put their selves in. There will be a lot of 40-45 minute plus trips.

I don't get why people like yourself keep throwing stones at Margaretta. The SBC has 10 teams, why would they have added Margaretta as that 11th school? That would have created a scheduling nightmare and in my opinion they were likely always going to be left out if Willard didn't tag along with them.

Margaretta has been in the SBC for 61 years already.

Do you mean why did the 10 who left to form a new league not take Margaretta with them? I have not talked with anyone lately, but I know they have been complaining about playing Clyde and other schools bigger than them for at least 20 years.

Margaretta wanted to be in the river for everything. The Bay and Lake wanted them in the Bay so Bellevue could move back up to the Lake and you'd have 6 in each (with Willard). But the River has more members so they out vote the Bay and Lake. The Bay and Lake said fine, you want to be in the River, be in the River we will start our own thing.

No, I never would have expected those schools to bring them along. It would have created an uneven number and Margaretta has been a D6 in football since 2015. Geographically it works but they haven’t really been notable in football since that 2002 team that nearly made the D5 final four and size wise they are the smallest with an enrollment number of 242. Huron is the next smallest at 300 and Port Clinton is at 360. That's a huge gap for 3 grades

No NWC team is going to the BVC.
I agree right now. Give it a few years and let the LCC effect take hold. Then we will see. I think its possible one of the less competitive schools could consider a change down the road, hence the BVC membership and then Liberty Benton could replace them. Just throwing it out there, don't shoot the messenger.

Hey LimaJock, if you had to guess, which schools do you see that might possibly look to join the BVC down the road?

Who? The only 3 that are legitimate options are Grove, Bluffton, and Allen East... Any of those schools would be idiotic to leave the NWC for the BVC

It would be funny though to see any of them do that, as those are the "bigger" schools that Ada left to avoid
