I think it's more Yappi guess work than reality. IMO, the NWC released the fact that LB, Fort Loramie and LCC were interested to spark interest from other schools that they would rather have apply.
I don’t speculate, I stand by my inside source.

They are probably hammering out how long Leipsic and Ada need to honor the contracts with the other schools in the league.
Side note: Drove by War Memorial Stadium this afternoon ad they are adding new home side bleachers (the main bleachers on the 50 are staying. it is the side bleachers being replaced) The east side is being replaced this year and west side will be replaced next year. Kind of ironic they made improvements last year on visitor side with new bleachers, this year and next to home side but going to a conference that will draw less visitors. SMDH

Has anyone seen anything on Bath being potentially interested in the NWC, or has it been all speculation at this point? Anything WBL-related is “I’ll believe when I see it.”

Speculation. I can't see them actually leaving, but they ARE the 2nd smallest and 2nd least competitive school in the league.

Not sure how exactly accurate my point totals are, nor how the WBL actually calculates all sports rankings but here goes.

I don't remember Elida being the rear end of the league, what's happened as of late?

Edit:

Notes
I calculated simply using 10 points for 1st place, 9 points for 2nd , etc...

In the event of a tie I gave all those teams involved in the tie the points for that place. So for example Bath, Kenton and Elida were tied for 8th place in Boys Basketball so I gave them all 3 points.

WBL has a weird formula for ties in sports standings. If two teams tie for first, they each get 9.5; but if it's a three-way tie for first place they'll award 9 points each. Same goes for ties for 4th place and any other ties. It's not a straightforward 10-9-8 system. Your system was close enough in identifying the top performing athletic departments and the lesser successful ones.

You can see this displayed for some sports years on this page: https://www.wblsports.com/wbl-history/allsportstrophy/

That is not weird. It is taking the total points for all the places and dividing them by the number of schools that tied for a place. 10+9+8 =27/3 = 9.

Sure, perhaps weird was the incorrect word choice. It's not invalid by any means. Just pointing out it's a more nuanced formula for ties than the 10-9-8 they say they use.

Based on this, Bath isn't quite as bad as what everybody thinks. They just aren't good at the 2 biggest sports: football and boys basketball. The baseball team even had a big win against Defiance this spring. Bath has been in the WBL for 50 years. I wouldn't leave if I was them.

Thank you for that link. While not all years were hyperlinked, some are, which is helpful. I may go back later and adjust my points.

With Tucson pointing me in the right direction I may need to go and re-do my original data. The points will obviously be different. I wonder if the overall rankings will change.

I made the mistake of clicking on it and I think I lost a few brain cells.

"If there was an acceptable solution to replacing the two members...they most likely will announce it today...if not hang on!." <- actual quote from Dave
Guess somebody's gonna have to "hang on!".

That’s a great “barometer” he has. Top notch insight.

Thanks for posting that. God, Defiance has dropped to 8th? Good lord. Traditionally, the bottom three have been Elida, Bath, then Kenton. The WBL web site needs to post the standings for every year, all-time. They have to have the info.

Elida thanks their lucky stars every year that Kenton is a league member. Just like Arkansas thanks the good lord for Mississippi. As long as Kenton exists no one ever looks at Elida.

Preface: just for fun and to further some debate about who should be where in terms of league / conference affiliation.

Which school from the NWC should be "promoted" to the WBL and which WBL school should be "downgraded" to the NWC?

Here is my best effort at an all sports tabulation for the NWC for the 2022-23 school year.

SEVERAL notes:

1 The NWC clearly does not sponsor several sports. Swim, Tennis and Bowling to be precise.
2 Not every school in the NWC fields the sports the league sponsors. See Boys Soccer and Girls XC.
3 When doing the points for those sports that not everyone fields I just gave "0s" BUT also only awarded the max based on how many schools fielded that team. So i.e. in Basketball, the max was 9 points for first place but in something like Girls XC with only 4 schools fielding teams the max first place points was 4. Fair? Unfair? You guys will tell me.

Conclusion(s):

1 Based on my WBL and NWC data, I would send Elida to the NWC for a season or two and let Grove play in the WBL for a season or two.
2 I MIGHT out Grove in exchange for Bluffton since Bluffton fields every NWC sport.
3 Bluffton fields both Boys and Girls Swim, Boys and Girls Tennis which would alleviate any scheduling concerns (although bowling would still be an issue, I'm sure Bluffton could kind some kids to get their King Pin on) Bluffton also fields Girls Golf, which I was surprised the WBL does not sponsor but several WBL schools have girls golf and that might be a feather in Bluffton's cap.

Half the high school enrollment has been at workouts, even if they end up with 25 players that is a big step

I suspect that is a little "inflated". They are really trying to do whatever to just stay open as a school. Any publicity is good publicity right now.

I will not be surprised once week 1 hits if they are right around 17-18 guys.

Exactly. They saw what happened to Fostoria St. Wendelin when they could no longer field a football team.

Northwest Conference principals and athletic directors to meet on Monday (6/26). The league has invited three schools to join. There was discussion at Parkway's last board meeting, but they turned down the invite and will remain in the MAC.
