Men's volleyball will begin competition in January 2010.
The College of Mount St. Joseph announces the addition of men’s volleyball as a NCAA Division III collegiate athletic program for the 2009-10 academic year. The men’s program will complement the highly successful women’s volleyball team which has consistently been ranked in the top 25 of the nation in women’s volleyball, and has won both the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference regular season and HCAC Tournament titles 10 of the 11 seasons they’ve been a member of the conference.

Men’s volleyball will begin competition in January 2010 with the season culminating in an All-Divisions collegiate championship in April 2010. There are currently 50 Division III schools across the country that field men’s volleyball teams. A Division III men’s championship is being planned for 2011.

“I am excited to have the opportunity to add men’s volleyball as a varsity intercollegiate sport at the Mount,’’ Mount Athletic Director Steve Radcliffe says. “There is a high degree of local interest in this sport and we hope to attract a very competitive team from the local and regional high schools. We firmly believe that the Mount can become a regional and national power in both women’s and men’s volleyball at the NCAA Division III level.”

The Mount will soon begin the search for a head coach to oversee both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs.

The College of Mount St. Joseph is an undergraduate and graduate Catholic college that provides an interdisciplinary liberal arts and professional curriculum emphasizing values, service and social responsibility.
