To be fair, there already was a film about the Bengals players. I believe it was called The Shawshank Redemption

Originally the film was supposed to be filmed in Buffalo about the Bills. However, Ohio has a very friendly tax break for filmmakers, whereas NY doesn't. So the film was moved to Ohio. This tax break has brought Cate Blanchett to Cincinnati and Draft Day, The Avengers, and Capt. America to Cleveland. In all, good news for our state. BTW, Shawshank was filmed in Mansfield.

Wasn't spiderman and one of the ironman also in Cleveland? I heard from someone who's a PA said Cleveland is a very desireable destination for Films these days because it cost very little to film compared to alot of others in america.

They couldn't have picked a better team?

"Hey, let's make a movie about the NFL draft."
"Good idea! What team should we center it around?"
"Hmmm....probably the least successful one since the turn of the century who has shown time and time again they don't know how to draft."
"Great idea!"

Cleveland is becoming a huge film destination.

The big reason beyond it being cheap is that they can kinda make it look like New York. East 9th where they did the big explosions in avengers looks awfully like NYC when you throw some yellow cabs in and with the low cost to shut the street, tax breaks and cheap labor it is a trifecta.

Most of the stars have been very high in filming in Cleveland. Beyond just saying that for good PR, Cleveland is gaining a solid rep for food tourism with the microbrews and big name chefs like Symon.

I wish Cincinnati looked like an urban blight that it's citizens wouldn't mind blowing up. Cleveland's lucky it looks so crappy.

Cleveland isn't used for blight shots, they go to Detroit to do that. Cleveland fills in for the midtown Manhattan shots and the shoreway fills in FDR drive.

Cincy does fill a film need though ep, as Rain Man showed when Hollywood wants shots of a garish old school Insane Asylum they can find these in the Cincy area.

Cleveland also fills the void in having numerous hapless sports franchises that no one would ever believe could win a championship.

not sure that is that accurate gurgle ...for one , you know that you thought cavs would win a cha, pionship or 2 when LeBron was there ..also, Indoans make the playoffs alot more than people realize over the last 20 yrs or so ...browns have neeb poor but they do posess the last championshiop team for the city in 1964 ...... i would say that san diego is a more hapless sports town and so is buffalo ..... and cincintnati is not that far off ..i am a ravens fan so i have been lucky ..i like the ravens the pacers and the Bo Sox ... i have been luck to root for soem good teams

Buffalo hardly counts- they have the Bills and the Sabers. The Bills had that run in the early 90's, and the Sabers made the finals in '02 or something like that. IDK if two pro teams qualifies you for this talk. If you don't have three pro teams, you aren't a major sports city.

rofl fragilebobcatfan mentioned big-name chefs from Cleveland, when Cincinnati has one of the top chefs in America, arguably the midwest's best chef, and the #7 ranked restaurant in the USA according to Open Table.

But yes, stars flock to Cleveland for the food.

You really can't bring up the food scene; Cleveland wins that one hands down. The LA Times, New York Times, Forbes, Food & Wine, and Huff Post have run features on Cleveland's food scene. Oh, and GQ had us in its list of top 5 beer cities. You can debate a lot of aspects of the cities, but not this one.

That would be correct. I travel a ton and take customers out to eat in a lot of cities and have a strong knowledge of the food scene; right now Cleveland is dialed in and a top foodie destination. Cincy lost a lot of it's luster when the The Maisonette closed.

Cleveland isn't a top beer city unless Steve Austin deems it to be so. He's a big craft guy. A lot of breweries send him new brews to try.
