MoellerFan1 is :stirthepot: if you're not careful WarriorOne will be in this thread soon b!ching about how Moeller backs out of contracts.

Has there been confirmation on where the Don Bosco game is being played- heard that West Point was not definite after all?

Anyone know about the week 10 game on next year's schedule. There was a lot of talk a while back about them playing a team from Florida. The athletic department released the schedule and week 10 is TBA. Did the Florida team fall through? It's good to see Lakota West and Mason on the schedule. They are also scrimmaging Princeton and Massilon Washington (at Massilon). Those are a couple of teams they haven't seen in a while. It's a long way to drive for a scrimmage! I thought it was interesting that they are only playing two games (Elder and St. Ed's) at Lockland next year (not counting whatever happens with week 10) Not much of a home schedule.

Just curious if the expectation at Moeller that the younger McBride kid continue to play both football and basketball.

I have no idea if he will keep playing both, but as a fan, I sure hope so. He played on the JV football team as a freshman and the varsity basketball team as a freshman. He is a special talent.

Mason thinks their Junior Class next season is the best class they have ever had in the program so I think they are playing Moeller to prove a point. I think this is a two year agreement because Mason supposedly wanted the home game in 2017 but Moeller wouldn't agree to it. Should be a good game but if Moeller plays aggressive they will rip Mason's WingT offense to shreds.

That is shocking to read that Mason decided to schedule Moeller knowing this may be their best team ever. :dang:

Hopefully Moeller gets a return home game in 2017!

Again you are clueless. GMC goes to a 8 GMC games in 2017. Meaning unless Mason drops Withrow week 2 and Moeller takes Mason's week 2 in 2017. This is a one year deal. It is a smart play for Mason as far as timing goes. They have what most Mason fans think is Mason's best team in a long time. They get a home game against Moeller for their big tailgate. Then if they get embarrassed they don't have to play Moeller the next year.

Projected Starters for Moeller Football 2016 Season

QB: Ernst, Lampert, Wyche, McBride
HB: Hughes, Watkins, Thurman
WR: Mock, McCracken, Davenport, Khayo
TE: Dotson, Bates, Wiehee
OL: Saddler, Gall, Carpenter, Recker, Marcus
DT: Meiser, Hawkins, Manigault
DE: Coburn, Szabados, Davidson
LB: Kelly, Manger, Hack, Cook, Filipowski
DB: Edmond, Kritz, Horter, Reliford, Stahanzyck, Hodges, Jones

This seems to be the depth chart for next season.
QB: I think Ernst and Lampert could split time at QB next year, unless one is clearly performing better than the other.
RB: I recently heard there's a chance that Hughes could be moving to safety this year and in that case, we would be fine with that move as Watkins and Thurman can carry the load.
WR: At the wide receiver position, now that Buford has been expelled, the junior receivers McCracken and Davenport should be able to carry the load as both have great size. I could see Khayo moving to slot to fill in the void left by Butz, but Mock might be able to support there as well.
TE: Dotson will be the most used tight end as Wiehee and Bates might be used in different situations. I could see Wiehee moving to H-Back while Bates is more of a receiving TE.
OL: We have 3 D1 Lineman in Saddler, Gall, and Carpenter. The incoming junior class does not have a a great number of lineman that would be ready to start. There might be some incoming sophomores that could play next year, but they would have to get strong as they can this offseason.
DL: The talent at DT is good, but we lose two major pass-rushers in Meyer and Packer. I think that Dotson could honestly play at DE in certain situations, but not all the time. He had the experience freshman year to do so. Szabados, I think will play DE, just because of the void left by this year's seniors.
LB: This year's LB's will all be seniors that have played with each other since freshman year. I don't think there will be any stars, but they will all carry weight for this team.
DB: The corners will be Kritz and Edmond, who are more than able to start and do well. Horter will return at safety while I'm thinking Reliford or either of two sophomores. Stahanzyck played LB at the JV level and was a stud, but he'll probably plays safety because of his height. Hodges, a safety on JV, did very well too. Like I've said, I don't think there will be any stars on defense in the past, like Taylor, Hubbard, or Jones, but they will be good overall at containing offenses.

Heard a Mason kid transferred in this week. Played at St Susanna. My son played against him and he was very good. Not even sure if he would be eligible under the transfer rules or not, but never hurts to add good athletes.

Oh they definitely does havery some of that type talent just not giving those guys their shot. Hands down that Saddler was the best defensive lineman on the freshman team and was moved to offensive so he could play varsity hus sophomore year because staff wasn't sold on varsity line that year. Gall has been on varsity 4 years and haven't been given a chance which I think he deserves because when he did get in last year he made some noise. So they do have the talent just not the coaching on that side of the ball. They don't make good adjustments and should use certain players and different situations on that defensive line. Only one guy has great experience on the defensive line and played well but everyone is going on what happened as a JR varsity game is totally different.

He won't be at RB this year. Probably at DB this season.

Good. Moeller football success is usually traced to a good OL and secondary. Look at 2012 and 2013, both Ol and DB's were very good. Load up the secondary with as much talent as possible!!!

In case anyone missed it- they announced this week that Moeller will play its first ever true HOME varsity game at Moeller on Saturday 10/29 for Senior Day. This will be a very special game (playing a Canadian team) and would expect it to be a sell-out with one heck of a tailgate!

I think his name is Nick Baenzinger. im preety sure he plays rb

There are several versions of the story as to why things did not work out for him at Mason and I would bet there is fault in all directions. I hope the kid uses the new scenery for a fresh start. I know the kid, he is a good kid. His dad played football at Eastern Michigan so he has the genes. Nick has big time speed and he isn't afraid of contact. I could see him playing offense or being a DB at Moeller. Most thought he should of gone to Moeller day one. It will be interesting to see how this plays out.

Glad to hear that we are adding an athletic, fast kid because lord knows we need to improve our team speed. The scary part with this kid is that from what I have heard he struggled at Mason because of his arrogant attitude and I hear that the apple didn't fall far from the tree, if you know what I mean. For his sake, I really hope that he comes in with a "team" attitude and is willing to do whatever the coaches ask from him, or he wont see the field next season. #GoBigMoe

As stated there are usually many reasons this happens. I will say Mason at times has some issues in regards to thinking they are better than they are and coaches who refuse to use the right players the right way.

I wish the boy luck here.

Any updates on how the off-season is going with the football team? New coaches? Position changes? It's never too early to be talking football!

Schedule Analysis

Lakota West: GMC team that will be a win for Moe. Only one good player on their team: SB/RB Robinson who was all district. Decent QB as well. As long as defense plays well, this should be a blowout.
Wayne: One of hardest games this season in my opinion. They will have to replace key cogs on both defense (3 starters returning) and offense(QB DeWeaver) They do return three very good impact players from the games these past 2 years in SR. WR/RB Wilcox, Jr. WR Smith, and Jr. DE Reigelsperger. As long as pass rush is great (which it usually always for Moe) and we can keep the ball away from their playmakers, we can win this game.
Mason: Return UK commit DE King and three-year starter QB Hutchinson. I've heard from some Mason parents that this incoming senior class could be the best class for football in Mason history. Defense must be stingy and offense can set the tone if everyone is in sync.
Don Bosco: Very good team returning QB DeVito, FS/RB Brennan, and DE/OG Friday. They do lose some good talent on their team, but then again, Bosco and the other Jersey teams will always good. Controlling the line of scrimmage is key as their offensive linemen were able to pave the way for an average RB last year easily. Same goes for offense as we have to give protection for our QB and make good, consistent runs.
St Xavier: Toughest team we play all year, in my opinion. They return Penn State QB commit Clifford and Clemson OG commit Bockhorst. Both the incoming junior and senior classes are very good as they both beat Moe on the JV level and were undefeated. Have to stop the run as Clifford has a good chance of playing less than average. They lose many starters on defense,, but the defense will probably stay strong.
LaSalle: Lose many good players as RB larkin, Qb Watson, majority of their their offensive line and defense graduate. Have key players in SS/RB White, (who will be most likely GCL POY this season) FS Smith, and OL Munford. Not to be underestimated, but will still be tough GCl match.
Elder: Lose their HC, QB Ramsey, OL Kraemer, and entire defense. No D1 college has offered any of their players and will be one of the easier games this season on the GMC level.
St Ignatius: Lose many of their key players on that high-scoring offense, so as long as offense can produce in this part of the season, we should be fine.
St Edwards: Always a tough match from the team in Cleveland. I don't think they have any 3-star players this year, but they will always be a tough match. As long as secondary can keep up, and we are moving up and down the field on offense, we can get rid of that six-game losing streak.
Canada Team: Easy win at the first varsity on-campus game.
Teams to beat at State:
Colerain: Very good squad as they return 9 starters on their defense (7 of which hold D1 offers). They do lose playmaker QB Jones and majority of their offensive line. FB Caldwell and Rb Leyendecker are key players returning. Could very well be a low-scoring slow game like LaSalle last year. Qb must perform well. Front seven will also be huge in this game.

I believe captains were announced at one of the meetings last night. I wasn't there, but I was hoping someone could perhaps shed some light as to who was declared captain? I know Saddler, Meiser, Dotson, and I think Hughes were, but I wasn't if there was anyone else.

What is offical name of Lockland Stadium?
I've seen:
Grein Field
Roettger Field
Roettger Stadium

Or maybe Grein Field @ Roettger Stadium?
