Midwest Athletic Conference 2020

I may give them a lot of crap from time to time and opine for them to join the NWC but in all seriousness, Congrats to Parkway on the district basketball title. The league is proud of you!

They did the celebration right. Good to see them going out of their way and visiting Mendon and Willshire before going to Rockford. This was just for the first district basketball title. Wish Crestview would have took note last year for their state title route.

95% of Wren was sitting at Crestview. That would have been a waste considering there wasn't even a victory lap through Convoy. They literally had the Wren FD along with Convoy FD escort everyone off of the highway into the school. And I grew up going to school and playing ball in Wren. Anyway. It was a monumental occasion for Parkway. Crazy how they have never won a district. Just goes to show how hard it is to get out of the area (coupled with the fact that Willshire and Mendon Union were their own schools into the 80s).

Willshire merged with Rockford to become Parkway in the 60s.

Good catch. Mendon Union was around in the 80s and the Willshire school was still being used as an elementary school back then. That being said, its still crazy that this is the first time they made it out of districts. Congrats to them.

Mendon joined Parkway in 93-94, I believe. And that Willshire school they used until their new school opened around 2006ish.

Just made my point. Thanks!

Celebration was in the gym with overflow of people out the doors. All the coaches spoke. Entire team spoke. Convoy didn’t shut down until about 4am. You must not have been there. I thought it was a class act. Podium was ready. Kids were poised. Great night. Didn’t need a parade through towns. It was about the team. And the school made it that way.

I recall playing Mendon onion in basketball and baseball toward the end of the school...wow was it bad. Real bad.

The school has been gone for over 25 years and yet you have to criticize it even today. You are a REAL class act.
Waaaaah.

Just calling it as it is!
If it is bad, ill say it.
Ive even admitted that my 4 year stint in FB was likely the worst 4 years in its history, and I was likely the worst at the position that I played in probably at least 60 plus years.

Well, I got a little bored so I felt like posting everyone's future Non-conference games or lack there of from arbiter.

DELPHOS ST JOHN'S
2020: Week 1 is blank but I thought they played Delphos Jefferson but that's listed as a scrimmage?
Believe the DSJ/Delphos Jefferson game is week 1 of 2021. Delphos Jefferson is set to open 2020 against Colonel Crawford.

NEW TURF? really

That's the plan. :)

With the number of games played on the field each season (45-50) it's long overdue. Will also include soccer lines. With a stadium that seats just about 4,000 and turf we could host some football playoff games and soccer tournament games.

for two schools to share that field, i'm amazed on how good of condition it is always in

You must have a short memory!!!!

At least they cleaned up the sewer plant smell that was prevalent in the 80's/90's (not unlike the farm smell in some other MAC schools).

I have not heard much about the Coldwater proposal for turf. Theyhave pretty much moved most, if not all, the girls soccer games there as well. WHen it came up a couple of years ago many people supported it. A few of us, myself included, are FOR IT but didnt want the powers that be to include bogus projections as to how much money the field would raise for the school, and town, by hosting tournament games.

CW residents sort of put that on the back burner due to donation fatigue because of the huge push for the CPAC building and redoing the concession stands, restrooms, etc below the bleachers.

That was all during the program's heyday, and I imagine now that the program is normalizing the ground swell will decrease in the future.

Minster used to play DSJ in week 9, and by then it was a dirt field. And, inevitably, sometime in the week before the game it would rain and someone would run up and down the visitor's bleachers in muddy shoes.

yes....but any field is like that......for as many games that are played on that field by two different schools......thought it was always in pretty good shape...

i would guess something like what Sidney does with each schools name in an endzone
I figured they'd do one endzone in Jefferson colors and one in St John's Colors as well. Sidney's stadium has Sidney's logo in the middle of the field though and I believe Stadium Park is owned by the City of Delphos which would make me think they'd put both logos on the field like Fremont or maybe even no logos at all and just do the endzone. Lots of possibilities.

I sat on the visitors side numerous times when the wastewater treatment plant was located behind the stadium. Never really smelled anything that bad. But then again I grew up on a farm.

The stadium has always been owned by the City of Delphos. The stadium and pool were WPA projects around 1940. I would prefer a plain field with at most a blue endzone and a red endzone. This will cap a run of huge improvements at the stadium in the last ten or so years: new locker rooms, new visitors bleachers, new visitors concession stand, new fencing and sidewalks, etc... stadium park aerial view.jpg
