Meeting of the minds... Yappi

lol

that was always the best thing with the Huddle

Folks got together all the time. I have many friends that I met through there that remain very good friends today. For from all over my area but also guys from mentor, akron, MAC country, Columbus. All over the place. Met so many people at playoff games and state title games. Even made some friends from Steubenville! There was a much better sense of community there I thought.

For some reason, folks tend to hide behind their avatars here on Yappi. More than a few times I've PM'ed folks and no one ever wants to get together. Probably a sign of the times. People here are more Uncle Ted and less YTOWN and RadCard.

I missed out on that during my Huddle tenure. Def would have like to meet some of those characters in person. Count me in if a meet is set up. I may not be the most interesting guy in person, but you never know.

Never went to a huddle party, but our league site for the MAC had a pretty good run with a message board and we had get togethers.
A few of the huddle ladies were pretty hot......

Met a couple of people from the huddle at some games over the years. Remember Marionpleasantdad? We always assumed he was a football dad with all he posted about the football team and when everyone met at one of the games he had about 6 of his son in the band picture badges on, not that there is anything wrong with that.......

I hosted 2-3 with a cookout prior to a couple of football games back in the day and it was a good time for those whom showed up.

I went to many of the huddle get togethers and have to say, for the most part everyone was pretty cool and it was good to meet te people, that posted with you and even better to see how everyone was in real life.

We had one back in 2002 (I think, maybe 2003). It was at the BW3 in the Canton area. Had a really good size group of people show up.

A few of the general board regulars had some flag football games around that time too.

Maybe one of these days we could do it again.

There’s a lot of ‘hiding behind the avatar’ in general in 2010s American social media society. Deindividuation is quite prevalent. So you’re definitely on to something there.

Had a couple huddle females want to meet me....but I resisted that temptation.

Maconline actually had a very small get-together last year. It's tough to find a time when a few can meet.

Yappi bowling night was a thing at one point.

Also lcd and recently went to a casino with some others

Pboy and recently went to the drawbridge in once and the rest is pretty well documented

I would go to a yappi meetup if it was at Keeneland but I would probably only want to meet like five people here. Hit me up twbb. I would also drink beer and shoot pigs with ted

Wasn't there a football game the day after thanksgiving for a few years too?

In the early days of Yappi the Cincinnati area posters used to get together often for touch football games. A NEO contingent actually came down to to the 'Nati and played a football game and then we all went to the Moeller/Elder game that night. The same group met up in Canton before one of the football finals games and played football in the park on the other side of the highway from the stadium. One crazy NEO guy forgot his football shoes so he played in his barefeet in the snow. I kid you not on that one. We also did meet at the state football finals a couple times. I know there were several Cincinnati guys actually stayed at the house of one of the NEO posters but she is no longer with us  The football games and gatherings kind of dwindled as the site got bigger and people started getting more antagonistic. I believe their was another younger group of Cincinnati Yappsters who were meeting at bowling alleys or nightclubs a few years ago.

It was 2002. You, MCGal, PolarBear, me, skins99, WallyHill2002, SImplyADevil and whole host of other OGs that I can't remember met up that evening. The touch football game a few of us played that weekend was pretty crazy...especially with PaperTiger breaking his orbital socket and Levi getting super upset at us for visiting him where he worked!

Ah the good ole days...Yes, we did stay with PB; I am sad she left us. I am down for a class reunion anytime I'm back in Ohio and can make it!

It was PolarBear's boyfriend at the time that played barefoot in the snow. I know you guys that stayed at PBs house had a great time and some good stories. LOL

I remember at meetup at a Price Hill watering hole between Elder and St. Ignatius fans before the 2001 game in The Pit.

I also remember there being annual meet ups at Nippert during the heyday of the Crosstown Showdown.
