Hey everyone i am a mason wrestling alumni and i don't live around Mason anymore. I was hoping those of you who do would be able to keep everyone updates on how Murnan and the boys are doing this season. I know Pin Cancer is tonight, I'm glad the wrestling family has continued this great event. Goodluck this year!

Photos from Pin Cancer Night:

It was an inspiring ceremony. The Mason School Community rallying around a man facing cancer head on. OSU Coach Jim Tressel gave Dave Secrist a sideline pass to the Michigan/OSU game. During pregame warm up an OSU assistant who knew Dave told Tressel he was going over to talk to him. Tressel wanted to go with him. Tressel told Secrist he had never received so many phone calls and emails from a community. Pretty much the deluge of messages said the same thing "What a great guy".

well its a shame that Barry Hensley won't be joining them this year since he wasn't renewed a contract extension by the athletic department after his 3 year contract expired last year after he went 3-7 and became 8-22 during his 3 year deal.

ehhh,,, i would argue that both soph. adam quick and freshman andrew lucke are going to be big time heavyweights in masons future.... PLUS its a good thing barry hensley decided to renew his contract now

Maybe there's some hope there in the years ahead. Upperclassmen haven't done well in recent years. Maybe those two can change our fortunes.

Yeah several GMC champs, District Champs, state qualifiers and 2 state champions in the last 5-6 years is a real problem......

You realize the heavyweight spot at mason has equal to if not more than the of number of state qualifiers as compared to other weight classes correct? In the last 6 years, mason has had two state champs in Marshall and Kline. Kline also qualified for state his junior year and McCormack qualified for state at hwy the year after Kline won his title. Mason is doing just fine in the heavyweight department and they will continue to fine in years to come.

This year in particular, results have been disappointing.

Yeah, with the exception of 189, Mason wrestlers (160+) are 1st, 2nd, or 3rd in every weight class over 160 in the GMC. They also have an 89-23 record, I'm pretty sure all of them have beaten higher ranked opponents this year as well as winning the ones they were expected to win. They have also each placed in a tournament or two, not sure who you are disappointed in.

If you look back further, the comments were in reference to the heavyweight class. Results are disappointing there, especially this year.

Yeah, 15-6 with 8 pins and 3rd in the GMC, I can see where you would be disappointed.
Wins against opponents that should be beaten and losses against decent competition. Padding stats doesn't work in wrestling. Maybe next year we can compete with the bigger, better schools in the heavyweight division. We are too soft there this year.

Give a little credit where it is due. Meyers beat Kellums who is a very respected heavy. Kellums is projected top 6 in the district.

Calling them like I see them. Let's see how the GMC tourney goes.

Results against Moeller and East speak for themselves.
