Lou Carnesecca, Hall of Famer who led St. John's, dies at 99

For those of us who are of a certain age, Carnesecca and St. Johns was must see TV on wintery Saturday afternoons.
Definitely. Big East basketball back then was larger than life. For a period of time it was the best college basketball conference ever assembled. No nights off, ever. Every team was close to championship caliber.

In the 80's the Big East was THE league. With coaches like Carnesecca, John Thompson, Beheim, and Gary Williams, the Big East ruled college basketball.
Don't forget about Rollie Massimino and P.J. Carlesimo. I remember when the league allowed a player 6 fouls before disqualification.
