Lakers' Magic Johnson says Pelicans didn't act in good faith

Go Buckeyes
Los Angeles Lakers president Magic Johnson said the New Orleans Pelicans operated in bad faith during negotiations with his team over a deal for superstar Anthony Davis. However, he said he isn't dwelling on the trade deadline failure and wants his players to shift their focus forward.

"We knew that basically at the end of the day, what happened happened," Johnson said before the Lakers' 140-123 loss to the Philadelphia 76ers on Sunday. "And we knew that when we first started, in terms of what happened. But hey, it is what it is."

Johnson was asked whether the New Orleans front office -- run by general manager Dell Demps and executive vice president Mickey Loomis -- acted in good faith from the time Davis' trade request became public until the deadline passed without a deal.

So, just to clarify, he broke the rules then got played and is now whining. His career as an NBA executive is going about as well as his talk show host career. Big early splash then a fast flop.

Magic needs to go away. He was a great basketball player and little else. LeBron get what he deserves.

The Lakers have really been a mess since Jerry Buss passed away.

They landed Lebron and have managed to become the 10th seed in the west.

Realistic expectations never were for Laker success in '18-19 when LeBron's move West was first announced, and only the dreamers had changed their minds.

The second biggest problem that the Cavs had with LeBron here moved West with him. He did give Magic a 4 year contract just like he gave Reilly, so he has an advantage that Koby Altmann and Griff did not have. The problem that lives in LA now is the ego that drove Kyrie out. Magic is going to have a really hard time convincing FAs that LBJ will stop being ball-dominant and spotlight hungry.

I’m sure Lebron wants that 7 or 6 seed which is possible. Everyone knew this was a throw away season for the lakers since The GSW will kill everyone. This is probably their last year of the dynasty.

yup

They sucked it up and signed Durant when it seemed that LeBron and Kyrie had cracked the code. Durant is likely gone and they'll be vulnerable to someone.
