Lancers lead the way!
Lancers are off to their best start since the 2016-2017 season at 5-0, should be a better season than last year's 15-10 and first round playoff loss, take on the Tigers of Withrow tonight at home, a team we lost to last year in overtime 48-44 at Withrow.

Lancers absolutely manhandled Withrow 69-36. Wihrow is struggling this year. ECC record is listed at 1-8

La Salle continued its strong start to the 2019-20 basketball season, as four players scored in double figures to lead the Lancers to a 69-36 victory over Withrow in a non-conference game Monday night at La Salle High School. La Salle (6-0) was led by a game-high 17 points from senior guard Jaylen Lemons – who connected on 3-of-5 from three-point range. Lemons was joined in double figures by juniors Austin Lovetee and Ayden Schneider, who each scored 12 points, and sophomore Devin Taylor – who came off the bench to add 10 hitting 5-of-7 shots from the field. La Salle, which last opened the season with six straight wins back in 2015-16 (when the Lancers wound up finishing 21-4 overall), jumped out to a 17-6 lead after one quarter and then put the game away by outscoring Withrow, 21-5, in the third quarter. The Lancers host Kings at 7:30 p.m. Friday in their final game of the calendar year.
 
Lancers take down Kings tonight 80-40 to go to 7-0. Lancers are at home next Friday hosting Walnut Hills, then travel to Roger Bacon on Saturday Jan. 4.

La Salle Perfect In December – The Lancers are off to their best start in nine seasons, after five players scored in double figures and coach Pat Goedde’s team scored 22 or more points in each of the first three quarters of an 80-40 victory against Kings last night at La Salle. Jeff Queen Jr. scored 15 to pace La Salle (7-0), while Ayden Schneider added 13, Devin Taylor came off the bench to score 13, Justin Lovette and Jaylen Lemons added 11 and 10, respectively, as La Salle connected on 34-of-57 field goals, good for 60 percent shooting.

The Lancers have won their first seven games by an average margin of 26.1, and only Covington Catholic has come within single digits of the Lancers – a 55-46 La Salle win in Park Hills, Ky. La Salle does not play until next Friday, when the Lancers host Walnut Hills at 7:30 p.m. before traveling to meet Roger Bacon at that same time on Saturday, January 4. La Salle opens GCL South play by hosting Moeller, which has won outright or shared the last seven GCL South championships, at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, January 10.
 
Lancers face arguably the best team they have played so far this season in 8-2 Walnut Hills tonight. Nick Smith's 20 points led Walnut Hills to the championship of the Zaxby Holiday Tournament in Clarksville, Tennesse on Monday, December 30.. Walnut Hills had two players make the all tournament team in 6'6"forward Nick Smith and 6'4" guard Michael Grant. The Eagles improve to 8-2 with three wins in this tourney on Friday, Saturday, and Monday. Eagles have a serious height advantage over the Lancers. Eagles two losses came against West Clermont at home on 12-6 (49-54) and on the road at Turpin on 12-20 (52-58). Picture of the Zaxby Tournament champions is here/

La Salle vs. Walnut Hills game as reported by ScoreStream (1/3/2020.

Cincinnati Walnut Hills got no credit and no consideration from Cincinnati La Salle, which slammed the door 65-51 in an Ohio boys basketball matchup on January 3. The start wasn't the problem for the Eagles, who began with a 12-11 edge over the Lancers through the end of the first quarter.
Cincinnati La Salle's offense moved to a 27-22 lead over Cincinnati Walnut Hills at the intermission and a 46-37 leading into the fourth quarter. With the win, La Salle moves to 8-0 while Walnut Hills drops to 8-3.

It seems the guys are strongest in the fourth quarter and have worn everyone down throughout the game so far. I like that.

La Salle (9-0) remained unbeaten with a 52-40 victory against GCL Co-Ed member Roger Bacon last night on the road. The game was tied after each of the first three quarters, before La Salle exploded to score 25 points in the final eight minutes to keep its perfect record. Junior forward Jeff Queen Jr. scored seven of his 11 points in the fourth quarter, while junior forward Ayden Schneider had five of his team-best 13 in the final eight minutes.

Looks like lancernation was right about the possibility of 10-0 by the Moeller game and I was wrong with the game against East Central coming up on Tuesday being a chance for the lancers to go 10-0. This could be a trap game for the Lancers if they are looking ahead to the huge game against two time defending state champion Moeller on Friday and taking East Central too lightly.

La Salle not only started 10-0 in the 2003-2004 season but actually went to 19-0 before losing at Moeller on 2-21-04 after star player Justin Orr got hurt at the Oak Hills game requiring knee surgery and was done for the season. Let's go back a bit here. Moeller had its all world team that year where all five starters played DI in college. That Moeller team had been called one of the greatest teams to ever take the floor in Cincinnati with Andrew Brackman and Josh Duncan on it. The head line in the Enquirer on Saturday, January 24, 2004 screamed out that La Salle shocked nationally ranked Moeller as Justin Orr hit a three pointer with :07 left to win 52-51 and catapault the Lancers to the #1` state ranking in Ohio. Moeller was the defending state champion that year also and had been beating Cincinnati-area teams by an average of 27 points according to Tom Groeschen who wrote the article for the Enquirer. As unbelievable as it seems that Moeller team had four guys 6'8" or taller which played a zone defense and forced La Salle to shoot from outside. It was La Salle's pressure defense which forced 19 Moeller turnovers to keep La Salle in the game even though Moeller took a 40-34 lead into the 4th quarter. That win over Moeller at La Salle gets my vote as one of the greatest in Lancer history.

La Salle cant look over East Central to stop Moeller you got to make sure you have to limit Land, Williams , and Duncomb. Or do what SVSM did and literally shut down everyone else on the team.

Neither Turpin nor East made the top ten. The poll aims to pick a state wide top ten. Read the first line of text before the poll, Do you believe either Turpin or East should be there as a top ten ten. I see Columbus area schools, SW area, NW area, and NE area all getting teams in the top ten. Seems to me the four major population areas all make at least two teams. For the first regular season poll, I think it's fair.
