JJHuddle Alumni!

Started on the Huddle in late 1999 and posted under my own name. There was some great discussion in those early days.

scipio was an original if I'm not mistaken? YTOWN. MPD was great. Did someone say he is still around? I thought maybe Indiandad was him?

eastisbest was there for a while until he figured this were better here long before anyone else noticed. Lol.

Transman on the Huddle. I made many friends from JJ, especially the Mooney guys. We met up many times, visited some of their homes and enjoyed their friendships. Good times

Not sure if it was the first season-long contest they had, but I won it one year when Kenton won state. Ansel sent me an XL pullover for the prize, when I said large, I don’t think I ever wore it.

Remember disco stud Dukefan hitting on teenage girls?

I ended up having my password suspended twice, only after a bunch of wieners complained about something I posted.

Alwaysafan was the turd who would spend all day calling out forum violations by people, in his power quest to become a moderator. Another asshat moderator had a flashing police car as his profile pic, like he was only there to arrest people who break the rules.

Yappi was always ahead on the web site innovations. Plus you have NEVER had to worry about being banned from Yappi unless you do something really bad. JJ would get rid of people who questioned anything about the site. How did he ever get on TV?

I do see one of my posts from the Wayback Machine’s first snapshot of the site, lol.

I also won one of the contests in the early 2000's too. Got that red pullover also. Finished 3rd another one of the years and got a JjHuddle gray cap.

Not only could you not mention this site over there, you also couldn't mention this new thing called Facebook. I'm amazed that policy didn't put that punk Harvard kid out of business.

JJ figured it out for me when he got pizzed because I wrote public schools teach ALL God's children. They hate truth.

Still alive, public records indicate he still lives on the west side of Columbus. On Facebook (search John Ansel), mostly family content and tOSU and CBJ stuff.

YTOWN still posts here and was kind enough to send me historical computer points info from years ago. How times have changed, that’s all available online now.
I think eastisbest was the only NW Ohio person here on Yappi back when the forum was all SW/Central/NE Ohio talk. I joined Yappi in 2001 but there was little reason to post anything until not even 10 years ago from now, really.
By the way, Yappi did send me a shirt from a weekly contest I won and I DID wear that a lot...

One of the longest threads I remember was about Coach Vicars leaving Genoa to take the Wauseon job (which never happened), I can't remember my name on the puddle but used it as a job search tool in the late 2000's when the economy sucked and teaching jobs were hard to come by.

I was Stivic back then . Most called me Stiv and some of the old guard still do . Named after All In The Family cast member Michael Stivic .( Rob Reiner) I chose it to be a bit self deprecating as he was called Meathead by Archie Bunker . Took a bit longer than I anticipated for anyone to mention that ?. Someone finally did and it was like “. What took you so long ? ?.
Remember Coach Shivershorts?....lol. The HD posters hated OneT.

P Sure I was the same on JJ. Lurker from ~2006 on. Same here. Grew up in Girard, left for college and just family visits since. Five years since I've been in NE Ohio, not even sure when I would go back. Appreciate that I can still get glimmers of what life is like in the Valley from the posters, so thanks to all the folks who are more active.

Re: adults interested in high school sports, etc. I fully embrace the nostalgia aspect. I went to Ursuline, right when we first started playing at Stambaugh. Marching from Bryson St to the stadium as the sun set over the freeway. Great times. Everyone should have unabashed simple, positive memories from high school. We should be working hard to make sure kids today have them (football related or something else).

Was reading a Defector article about Bishop Sycamore today and thinking about how even though the boards have perhaps contracted, two of the biggest HS football stories from Ohio (the Steubenville rape case and Sycamore) in the past ten years were first reported quite thoroughly on here (and the Huddle). Local news and community participation can still drive conversations. Good on everyone willing to put in the reps.

Used the same name on jj as here. Just remember all the big debates and the number of people including me that would criticize Steubenville mostly for the fact they would not schedule home and home games.
