Per Courier Sports Twitter Mark Ritzler has stepped down as Findlay Head Coach.

According to this article, Ritzler was the winningest coach in Findlay history with 14 seasons and a record of 74-68. Is it just me, or does that seem not that great/impressive for being the best at a place like Findlay?

Elida hires Kyle Harmon as head coach

Allen East head coach Wes Schroeder has resigned.

sources to both are the lima news. Limaohio.com

I am a little late to this conversation, but I noticed that there were more head coaching changes this year than the previous 4 years going back to 2015. Does this seem like an ominous trend? With the negative publicity surrounding injuries, the very competitive nature of the sport and the time constraints placed on coaches during the off season organizing workouts, camps, combines, scholarship referrals etc. as well as relatively low stipends and the difficulty attracting coaches for the lower levels it would seem to be a job that would not be nearly as attractive as it once was. Unless you have aspirations to go on to coach at the next level (career path), I would think that you would think twice about stepping into a thankless job where your immediate future can be influenced by disgruntled parents and/or boosters. This is especially true at high profile schools where there is an expectation to win win win or else as well as at the not so high profile programs that still require the time commitment without any adulation. What say you? GBM

I think it's just a lot of reshuffling. Most coaches who resigned are going elsewhere, either to be an assistant or moving up to a larger job. With that said, a high school football coaching gig is not a very lucrative job anymore. The pay is minimal (they make like less than $1/hour to coach when you breakdown the time they put in) and there is a lot of pressure put on these guys. I watched one local coach get drug through the mud this season, as well as his son who was on the team - he is one of the most successful coaches in our area. All over a high school sport where all he is trying to do is teach young men. Where's the allure in that? Our society has made it difficult to be a high school coach, especially with the pressure of winning in football (since that's most schools meal ticket).

When I was in college, I hoped to one day coach High School football. I had a few opportunities over the years but my work schedule didn't allow it. At this point, I am thankful that I didn't get the chance.

Coaching changes are increasing every year, several factors, some things you listed, we live in an instant gratification society that demands results immediately fire coaches faster (not all places). Younger generations coach a few years until they are continuing contract then resign from coaching (what I did). A lot married coaches get out due to family reasons, which means football eats up to much time.

I was a graduate assistant during my college years at my high school alma mater, great experience and I really enjoyed it but couldn't have done that when I started a family
