Roster is posted on GWOC site. Looks like Wayne has some good size. One named that jumped off the page is 6’7 sophomore Aamil Wagner. Wonder if he is related to Ahmad Wagner? Maybe a little brother?

Only 2 seniors on the team and only 1 of them played last season. The JV team was pretty good last year so it may be a learning curve in the beginning and ending up to be a pretty good team by season end.

CDS defeated Wayne 75-67

Wayne 15 15 21 16 - 67
CDS .... 27 21 17 10 - 75

Scoring for Wayne: Curry 16, Rice 13, Palma 12, Cammon 10, Hill 4, Brown 4, Fancher 3, Boles 3, Orwig 2

up next is the home opener against Beavercreek this Friday

Wayne defeated Beavercreek tonight 48-43 in over time.

Beavercreek 15 07 04 11 06 - 43
HH Wayne .. 10 10 11 06 11 - 48

Wayne scoring: Curry 15, Boles 8, Rice 8, Fancher 7, Hill 4, Brown 3, Lankford 3

Wayne found themselves down by 10 in the 2nd qtr. A Curry dunk started the comeback. Wayne would take the lead early in the 3rd and would not lose it the rest of the game. Wayne struggled at the charity stripe allowing Beavercreek back in the game. With the game tied Beavercreek had a chance for a last second shot to win the game but Wayne forced a turnover but missed a layup at the buzzer. Wayne would get a steal late in overtime to preserve the win 46-43. Wayne travels to Vandalia Saturday to take on Butler.

edit: OK, I guess Fancher's dunk at the end of the game actually counted so I will edit in those points....

Wayne defeated Vandalia Butler 54-50 tonight....

HH Wayne....11 07 19 17 - 54
Vand-Butler 08 14 08 20 - 50

Scoring for Wayne: Fancher 15 Curry 10 Palma 6 Hill 5 Boles 5 Rice 5 Brown 5 Cammon 3

Butler played most of the game in a zone and early on Wayne would struggle with it by settling for three's but a couple did hit as both Rice and Curry would connect. Wayne would lead 11-8 after 1. Wayne would lose that lead in the 2nd as they would only manage 7 points in the qtr. Bulter lead 22-18 at the break.

Wayne attacked the zone much better in the 3rd and quickly eliminated the deficit and built a 7 point lead. Fancher would hit a pair of three's, Cammon and Palma off the bench would also connect from behind the arc. Wayne up 37-30 after 3. Butler was pesky and made a game of it late but Wayne would make the free throws down the stretch. A deep last second 3 by Butler would make the final 54-50.

Up next for Wayne is a home game against Fairmont.

Wayne JV team also won beating Butler 61-32

Wayne defeated Fairmont tonight 53-51 in double overtime....

Well, lets get this out of the way now. The officiating in this game was so obviously bias towards Fairmont it got beyond ridiculous. It was basically 5 against 8 for the Warriors...

A Curry 3 would give Wayne an early 7-3 lead but Fairmont would go on a 6-0 run to take the lead. Wayne would tie it at 9 but a Johnson 3 at the buzzer would put Fairmont up 12-9 after 1. Fairmont would start the 2nd with a three but Fancher would answer with a three. Wayne did not look good in the 2nd as Fairmont opened up a 8 point lead at the half 24-16.

Wayne would make a run in the third as Fancher hit a 3 to get the scoring started. A Rice 3 would cut the lead to 4 and following a Curry 2 it was Fairmont 26 Wayne 24. Wayne would retake the lead on a Palma 3 to go up 29-28. Curry would make it a 3 point lead drilling a shot but Fairmont would cut it to 1 after 3. Wayne 31 Fairmont 30.

Fairmont would score the first 8 points of the qtr and it took a Rice 3 to stop the bleeding.... 38-34 Fairmont. Cammon off the bench hits to make it 38-36 and Curry would tie the game at 42 and then off of a steal Curry would connect again and Wayne was back up 44-42. The game would really slow down from that point and with the game tied at 44 Rice would give the Warriors back the lead but Fairmont would tie it. Fairmont had shot 17 free throws before Wayne would finally get one in the 4th qtr. Wayne would hold the ball for the last 2 minutes as Fairmont sat in the zone but missed a three at the buzzer and overtime we go tied at 46.

Fairmont would score first with a Johnson basket but Wayne would answer as Curry drilled another shot. Once again it slowed down to a grind as Wayne went for a last shot and once again missed and a 2nd overtime we go.

Curry would give Wayne a 50-48 lead and then a 52-49 lead. Fairmont would get fouled shooting a 3 and make 2 of the three free throws. Fairmont was forced to foul and Wayne would make 1 giving the Warriors a 53-51 lead. A bogus foul call late would give Fairmont a chance to tie the game at the free throw line but both free throws were missed but Fairmont came away with the rebound. They had 2 shots at it as but teh first shot was blocked and the 2nd came up short... no bail out this time, Wayne wins 53-51 in double OT.....

Fairmont shot 24 free throws in this game while Wayne shot 9 with over half of those was because Fairmont was trailing and wanted to put Wayne on the line. I hope these officials never do another Wayne game at home as I never saw zebras run so fast out of that gym before.....

Fairmont - 12 12 06 16 02 03 - 51
HH Wayne 09 07 15 15 02 05 - 53

Wayne scoring: Curry 23, Rice 10, Fancher 6, Boles 3, Palma 3, Orwig 2, Mukes 2, Cammon 2, Brown 2

Wayne JV team defeated Fairmont JV 52-42. Wayne JV was up big until Fairmont JV scored 28 points in the final 9 minutes of the game.....

Why don't you get it out of the way by hardcoding it into your name. Vamp - Wayne got cheated by the refs - 2syd

I wasn't at the game but 24-9 is a big delta considering that Fairmont was fouling to stop the clock. I suspect Wayne was fouling as called but there had to be more fouls on Fairmont.

I actually hardly ever complain about officiating... I could care less if it went both ways but last night it was a bit too obvious especially when hard fouls were not called against Fairmont but a touch foul 90 feet away from the basket is. It was tough when the game was going down to the wire with Fairmont going for the last shot and an obvious traveling call is missed by all 3 officials. The home side of the gym was going crazy it was not like one or two was complaining.... it was bad... again, if it went both ways no big deal but that was not the case..... Fairmont was even trying to foul when they were behind and it was not being called, they basically had to grab the Wayne players to get the foul called.....

Thanks for discounting the win.
a win is a win. I just think the Wayne teams the last couple years were a little better. I did like Fancher and Rice last night. I thought Palma should be playing more with his ability to hit the 3 as a big which would have pulled Mo out of the paint for driving lanes.

Basically, this was Wayne's JV team from last season..... anyhow, Wayne has suffered from key players transferring out over the last few years which could of made this years team a serious threat. They lost D1 players in Walker, Kennedy, and Scott just to name a few that are all long gone.

where did they go?

I forgot to give the scoring of the Centerville game.....

HH Wayne 12 13 13 14 - 52
Centerville 17 17 06 10 - 50

Scoring for Wayne: Curry 9 Palma 9, Rice 8, Cammon 8, Fancher 7, Boles 6, Hill 4, Brown 1

Wayne started 3 juniors, 1 soph, and a freshman. Wayne made 14 of 19 free throws including Boles making the final 2 to give Wayne the 52-50 win. Wayne held the ELKS to just 16 2nd half points as they came from behind to win this game....
