Green Bulldogs Football 2025

Nice schedule
I'm excited for IV to come to town. It definitely won't be an easy game for the Dawgs, but it will give our new starters good experience before conference play, and the crowd should be huge. I was hoping the Dover series would be renewed, but the Braves are also from Tuscarawas County and split with the Tornadoes the last two years, so it's probably the closest thing we could have to continuing that series.

I'm not all that worried about Riverside and Tallmadge, though the Blue Devils I'm sure will be extra motivated since it's a rivalry game being played at their place. Louisville is a bit of a mystery, but I think they have a good coach and certainly improved quite a bit in 2024 compared to 2023.

Overall, it's not a bad non-conference schedule, and IV and Tallmadge should win a lot of games in their leagues, which means a lot of Harbin Points for Green if we win. The Tallmadge series needs to be permanent because of the history. I don't love the Riverside series because it's so far away. We've played them 4 times (going 3-1) since 2017, with 2 being one-score games and the other two not being as close. Louisville hasn't been all that good recently, but they do bring plenty of fans. Not a bad choice for a Week 8 game.

Green has outgrown the Tallmadge matchup if you ask me.
I like it because it is a traditional rivalry that will usually provide a good crowd and a good opportunity for Harbin points. Tallmadge isn't as good as they used to be, but I'd prefer that game over an opponent Green has no history playing.

3 out of 4 meetings since the series has resumed have been decided by 8 points or less. I would guess that if the game was played each of the last ten years, the Devils would have won in 2018 in addition to 2022, and it would have been close in 2016 and 2017.

I'd like to see the matchups with Highland, Wadsworth and Copley be resumed at some point. Perhaps it would make sense for Green to play Highland and Tallmadge in Weeks 2-3 for a few years and then switch them out with Wadsworth and Copley.

Local teams like Manchester, Norton and CVCA could also make for a nice two-year series with the Bulldogs, assuming all three continue their recent success. Of course, it wouldn't be very exciting if you catch them in a down year. Barberton would have been a fun matchup except for last year, and Stow is another program Green has a history with. Yes, they've been awful for three years now, but that won't last forever. Basically, I'm in favor of getting as many fellow Summit County schools, as well as former Suburban League foes, on the schedule as we can.

However, there are exceptions. The recent Week 1 home-and-home with Ellet was a waste of time, and I have no interest in seeing Green face teams like Coventry, Falls, or Springfield.

I would like to think defunct Green business Steve's Motel for sponsoring this thread for 2025. Was there an unsolved triple murder there in 1991? Sure, but nobody's perfect! Big things are happening in the Roundabout City this Fall, so shout out to Steve's for coming on board!

Did you know that the City recently received a national award for its roundabout design? Well, now you do...

"The City of Green has a total of 12 roundabouts. Four more are currently in the design process, which "likely" makes Green the city with the most roundabouts in Northeast Ohio"

Did you hear that? Green is Number One! Rumor has it that for every Bulldog victory, a new roundabout will be installed on Route 241 between Greensburg Road and 619!

Looking forward to the opener. The first 2 games against Green and Steuby will give us a good idea about what areas we need to improve on.

I know Kinsey will be back at RB, which will be quite the challenge for the Bulldog defense. Do you guys return most of your other starters, or was 2024 a senior heavy lineup for IV?

Only lost 4 senior starters from last year’s team, IV was super young last year so all the experience they had should help them tremendously going into this season

Are there any upcoming sophomores or juniors that are expected to make an impact this season?
Most of the returning players who got significant playing time in 2024 will be seniors in 2025, but three guys who will be juniors this fall that I believe will be key contributors are LBs Kam Worner and Luke Schall, and K Logan Noirot.

The City of Green produces WINNERS. Take a look at this putt from Green graduate and 2017 state golf champion Maxwell Moldovan to win the ECP Brazil Open.

And check out Garrison Keeslar's go-ahead shot for the NIT champion Chatanooga Mocs

This is the sort of winning behavior that one will not find in North Canton or Lake Township. It comes from a certain way of life unique to the Roundabout City. It comes from shopping at the Giant Eagle Market District and eating at the Town Tavern. It comes from the magic of Boettler Park, of the Akron-Canton Airport, of the Main Street Bridge. The unconquerable spirit of the Green Bulldog is yet again victorious, as it has been in the past, as it will be again this Fall.

Some 2024 stats for returning Bulldog starters:

Tyson Hunka (QB class of 26) 2076 passing yards (57% completion) 17 TD, 661 rushing yards 4 TD

Evan Reed (RB/LB class of '26) 556 yards rushing 6 TD, 277 yards receiving 5 TD, 2 Kickoff Return TD.
48 tackles, 9 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 pick six.

Dario Lombardi (OL/DL class of '26)) 38 tackles, 5 TFL, 4 sacks, 2 fumble recoveries (1 TD)

Anthony McMichael (RB/DB class of '26) 409 yards rushing 3 TD, 158 yards receiving 1 TD
90 tackles, 4 TFL, 4 interceptions, 5 PBU

Kameron Worner (OLB class of '27) 56 tackles, 16.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 forced fumble

Kaden Worner (MLB class of '26): 66 tackles, 7 TFL, 3 sacks, 3 forced fumbles.

Evan Georgiou (WR/DB class of '26) 19.5 tackles, 3 interceptions, 5 PBU, 1 fumble recovery. 190 yards receiving.

People still boycotting Town Tavern?

Your posts are stellar.

What's not stellar is Channel 5 WEWS spelling Massillon incorrectly.

Sigh. Journalism. 🙄

McKinley, Jackson, then either Perry or Lake
That'd be a great year. Can't forget about Indian Valley in Week 1, that's either going to be the toughest, or second toughest (behind McK) game on the schedule. As far as competition level goes, I think scheduling IV similar to facing scheduling Wadsworth, Highland or Nordonia.

I'd like to mark down Jackson as a win, but Green never does well playing at Robert Fife. 4-2 in league play would be a big accomplishment. It's doable, but we'll need to catch a few breaks in close games to make that happen.

You guys just have to get over that mental block that is McKinley. I have seen numerous Green teams that were better and lost that game. Get that first win and you will be ok

I'm 90 percent sure Green would have won that game, and the league, in 2023 if Manson didn't break his collarbone in the second quarter at Benson.

It's a shame Green hasn't beaten the Pups on the gridiron yet, but our guys have just got to tell themselves "Hell, if Jackson can do it, so can we!"

Wow. Forgot IV went 16-0 winning the D4 ship last year.

Was 2023 the year you guys had a 21 point lead? Just look at it as another game. I'm sure the kids are reminded that hey you never beat them so I'm sure that puts pressure on them. It was the same way with Massillon vs Iggy should of beat them several times but couldn't, then after that first win the second came shortly after.

It was 27-7 Green at halftime. 28-27 McKinley was the final.
